Sarge and Fillmore think they're being extremely subtle about their relationship. In reality everyone knows they're together but nobody's said anything cause they think they aren't trying to hide it
Meanwhile Sheriff and Doc think they're being super obvious, but in reality nobody has picked up on the fact they're together
Sorry for anwsering so late, didnt see the ask but heres my headcannons(and canon mentions) under the cut:
(Canon) they met when Luigi poped a tire and Guido just happened to be at the right place in the right time
The love for ferraris and racing has made them close
Guido fell in love with Luigi sooner, like when they were having their first conversation. He was head over heels. Thats why he sold his garage for Luigis dream. Luigi fell in love with him then
They didnt confess for eachother for a long time because they didnt know if the other would repricocate those feelings
They were not aware how gay they looked to others. Almost everyone who even spent 5 minutes with them thought that theyre dating for 3 years by how close they were. It didnt help with the fact how fashionable Luigi was dressing, in which he wasnt aware that society viewed that fashion sense as queer
And that, unfortunately caused people to kick them out of their towns, while trying to conceal the reason why with "unsafety of their tire tower"
(Canon)Guido had lost hope, but Luigi was trying to keep his head up. Luigi said that if they get kicked out of one more town they will go back to italy. Luckily, they've chosen Radiator Springs as last resort
(Canon)Once their tire tower fell again, they thought that they will be kicked out again
Radiator Springs gang being accepting and seing them for their hardwork and character, not their way of presenting themselves; let them stay
They got together after some years passed together in Radiator Springs, when Guido got tired of keeping his feelings in, and let out all his love to Luigi in a heated argument
While they do fit the "old married couple" stereotype, their love has not become less than when they were younger
They always have the best gifts for eachother on valentines day
When no one is watching, they race with eachother in Wiily's butte pretending that they are racecar ferraris
