i don't really learn to drive but i think i'd rather die in oakland. and i'm nervous to be told i never saw me growing old in oakland. foot on the gas i'm just tryna' pass all the red lights & the stop signs i'm ready to go ; i'm really not ready girl that's the problem. rich kid but he act like a gentleman. last one didn't end like it should've been 3 days and he still wanna get it in. saying because of the internet try once then move on to the next thing. ex and the 'o' face on your exes, right? and we can do the same thing you wanna be a mom and i wasn't mad at her i was thinking 'bout me i'd be really bad at it. i took off my 5 to 9 but you still don't have the time to kiss me. if i left you all alone would you still pick up the phone? it's iffy.

“do people actually ask you that?" she’s unimpressed. it’s different if the ones asking are children, but adults? that makes her just loose faith in humanity. “i guess. or they’re unable to seperate reality from fiction ... which is more concerning.”

Personally, Raine didn’t really care about other’s opinions, even though her job was to please the public with her acting and modelling. But the girl had confidence and knew how to assume her own mistakes.  Nodding, she replied ❝ Yeah, good idea. Let’s listen to it, then. ❞

as much as she says she doesn’t, there’s a need to please those around her and her audience is definitely at the top of that list. “alright,” a nod of her head as she hands raine some headphones. more so to protect the privacy of her work and what not. “just be honest after.”

she snorts at the comment. not just because of how snarky it is, but because ali would have, too. god. was she that predictable? hm. “alright, i believe you.” or so she says. there’s always a voice in the back of her mind telling her not to. “that’s the problem. i dunno.”

“i like it - i mean it’s different and there is far to much stuff that all sounds the same so this is really good.” malachi complemented her softly, everyones stuff sounded the same these days and anything was different then it was just a remake of music from when they were all younger with a different verse. “i think so - if they don’t they’re old or full of themselves.”

an eyebrow raises and ali just nods .. not one to really know how to take a compliment to her face. “well people always try to make it sound like it should be on the radio. same sound, same vocals.” a shrug of her shoulders ; not that her stuff was overplayed on the radio, but. “i dunno. old people aren’t that bad, they’re usually pretty good.”

“i just found out that the leafy part of a strawberry is called a calyx… and honestly?? it makes me feel a little uncomfortable.“ the blonde muttered, running a hand through her hair. “i don’t think i’ll ever look at a strawberry the same again.”

eyebrows raise and eyes squint at the others words, because ... what? “strawberries are disgusting anyways.” ali shrugs, not bothering to look up from her phone because the topic of conversation is ( honestly, in her own opinion ) not that interesting. “you’re doing yourself a favor.”

he took the headphones and gave a small a laugh as she began her nervous tapping, he got it, he had been acting for years and he still got nervous whenever he had to watch or listen to himself. “sultry huh?” he smiled before he hit the play button, letting the song get a decent way in before he turned to look at her. “I don’t know why you were nervous it’s great.”

“kind of,” ali shrugs because that’s only the best way she could describe it. she doesn’t have the same tone others singers do, but she knows how to play to her strengths and downsize her weaknesses in her work. it seems to have been working. “doesn’t everyone get nervous when they put out new stuff?” some more than others.

“positive.” the blonde nodded her head in confirmation. “i’m the same way. i feel like a project of mine, whether it be a show or movie, has to be up to my standards you know? but you have to trust your work and believe in it yourself. that’s really all anyone can do.”

“yeah.” she shrugs ; although the other has seemingly nothing but good intention, nothing ali can hear will make her feel better. “it just sucks ‘cause you want it to work out but then ... it’s not how you think it will be. and then you either fix it or hate it.”

nodding at the words, googling did seem the smartest idea, any further response was cut off by the finishing word. “kid?” she parroted with a smirk, masking any trace of offence on her face. it wasn’t as though she hadn’t called people younger than her kid, even if they were only a few days younger, she’d always hated being called kid. “you don’t exactly look old enough to call people kid. unless you have the best skincare routine in the world.” 

“‘m closer to thirty than i am to eighteen, kid.” the girl couldn’t be older than eighteen, just turned nineteen max. besides ... ali only knows to shut her mouth in certain situations, and a barely legal kid on the street with a kitten isn’t one of them. “so unless you’re pulling  benjamin button shit on me and aging backwards, i dunno what you want me to say.”

“do i want to ask what the strangest thing you’ve ever seen is?” the obvious answer was no, but it never hurt to prepare yourself for what you’d come across in life. she couldn’t deny she’d spent most of her life a little sheltered, and it was definitely odd being out on her own. “i think the attachment boat has sailed already, but i’m stuck with her until i can work out where she actually lives. do you happen to know where the nearest vet is? seeing if she’s chipped is the best place i can think of to start.” 

“nope,” she pops the p to her own version of the word, a shake of her head and adjustment of the bag on her shoulder as eyes are cast downward to keep an eye of where the animal is. she’s not afraid of it, but she also would rather not have animal fur on her clothes. presentable and all that. another hum escapes her lips, along with another shake. “can’t say i do. i don’t do animals ... so you’re better off googling it, kid.”

“sure i’ll give it a listen.” the male nodded with a smile on his face as he looked down at her, he was always looking for new stuff to listen too and sometimes he prefered the stuff that he wasn’t going to hear 15 times in one day on the radiot - music helped keep him calm and distracted when he could find something he liked. “what kind of vibe are you going for?” he asked her quietly. 

a nod as she turns the screen of her laptop towards him ; hoping that getting the full experience would give him a better opinion. most of the time, when she asks for opinions, they tear her down limb from limb. that’s just the way the world works, it seems. at least it hollywood. “vibe?” eyes drift to her nails, tapping them lightly on the table as ali thinks. “’m not sure. kind of like a sultry vibe, i think.”

– SHE ALWAYS WON. in every game of twister they’ve ever played ( save for a few that she didn’t talk about, because she swears ali or tomas cheated ), she was either the last one standing or usually managed to somehow fuck over the others until they caved. ( could she really be blamed? she’s never NOT gotten her way. ) “wait! at least spin the —-” she sighs in frustration when tomas gets up and walks off, looking down at her limbs where they’re currently tangled with ali’s. “this does NOT count as me moving my hand,” she warns, before reaching over to spin the arrow. it lands on left hand green ( or so she thinks, because she can’t really see from where she is ) and groans, before carefully making the move to place her hand there – except she quickly loses her balance and nosedives into the floor. “ow – fuck! —– that’s not fair! i didn’t get a good spin!”

“not gonna happen,” her voice is in a sing-sony tone and she lets out a hearty laugh as esther continues to struggle with holding her weight ; it was almost comical to watch. it was the first time tomas has left them high and dry and it certainly won’t be the last, in more ways than one it seems. “i know it doesn’t,” her eyes roll from the position on the plastic mat. had these thins gotten smaller since she was a kid, or has she just gotten bigger? both, probably. "fuck," she laughs slightly as esther falls face first into the floor. she's concerned of course ... but it's also funny as fuck. ali moves so then she's leaning back, officially waiting for tomas to get back from doing whatever he's doing. "are you okay?" hands move to brush the brunette's hair out of her eyes and she investigates any possible damage.

     𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐍'𝐓 𝐔𝐍𝐔𝐒𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐒𝐄𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐀𝐍  to  offer  his  ear  to  other  musicians ,  both  seasoned  and  newcomers ,  but  he  didn’t  mind .  this  was  what  he  loved  to  do ,  after  all .  he’s  nodding  while  he  listens  to  the  track ,  smiling  at  some  parts  and  frowning  at  others ,  eyes  downcast  as  he  focuses  solely  on  the  record .  “ i  like  it .  it  has  a  really  strong  hook  and  the  chorus  gonna  be  on  everyone’s  mind . ”

“are you sure?" god, she hates being as insecure as she is. why could she not just put out work she was proud of without getting approval? oh yeah, she remembers now .. thanks mom. it was nice of the other though ; to offer opinion, and advice, if he wanted. otherwise? well ... she’d have to find someone else. in hollywood, that’s not a problem, but most have their heads up their ass. “if you’re lyin’ to me i swear ..”
