The False Beginners Course

This is a 12-week course which aims to expand your ability to use the Arabic language. During this course, you'll learn how to properly formulate sentences in Arabic that are both grammatically and culturally correct. Each week deals with a different thematic topic: weddings, religious holidays, university applications, etc. The aim is to introduce you to different vocabulary from as many different contexts as possible.

We aim to have you master the art of the small talk! And develop an ability to read unfamiliar texts, and use the roots of word to discern meaning.

This course is for someone who has a sound grasp of Arabic beginners grammar. And knowledge of everyday vocabulary.

Time Commitment

This course will require you attend a two-hour class once a week. Further to this, you will be required to do four hours of independent learning during the week. By the time you’ve finished the course, you will have done 72 hours of Arabic learning.

The Framework

The following course has been designed in line with The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, and Assessment (CEFR). The European framework is a user-oriented framework that has six stages; A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. The first two stages are for new learners, the second two for intermediate users and the final two are advanced users. We have chosen to design this course in line with this framework, because this allows for:  A curriculum that you can go back to and revise the way you would any other subject.  Use it to assess (objectively) your competency in the language, and how fluently you can use it in specific domains.  To thoroughly learn grammar/idiomatic constructions before moving on to tackle the next bit of grammar.

What is next?

Providing you pass the exam for this course, you will be able to enroll for the intermediate course.

You'll be provided with all materials. You'll also be provided with links to videos and audio training tapes to facilitate your own learning between lessons.

Cost

£150. This is due before the second lesson.

The Complete Beginners Course

This is a 12-week course which aims to take you from someone who has done next to no Arabic to someone that can confidently express what they’ve done in the previous week, speak about their daily routine, and begin to have discussions on the world around them.

We aim to have you speaking and reading Modern Standard Arabic as quickly as possible through a mixture of different teaching techniques. These techniques range from being asked to make sentences in class, to weekly homework, to correcting each other’s work for grammatical errors.

This course is for both false starters and complete beginners. Commitment is the only requirement.
