happy pride month
Ok i know that too some people it will just look like a question mark but i am in love with this new emoji apple added it dosent even feel realdo the people know about this
I somehow hit the jackpot and grew up being raised by a mother who was actually good and liked me (while she was poor and disabled nonetheless! Big Fascism is always saying poor and disabled single mothers who aren't evil can't exist, get #owned lol), and that actually made me extremely anti-adult from a very young age. every single friend I ever made from ages seven to nineteen would constantly tell me crazy stories about what regularly went down in the penal institutions that passed for their homes, and that was all considered normal and fine and the gold standard for what nice suburban families were meant to be, meanwhile if I said something like "my mum lets me read any book I want and all movies and tv are allowed as long as we watch them together" then I'd get un-invited from every birthday party because I was deemed a corrupting influence (which, to be fair, I was, because I would spend a lot of time convincing my friends that if their parents' rules sucked and were unfair then it was okay to lie to get around them). and whaddya know I'm twenty-four and still get on really well with my mother and talk to her as much as I can and this is the case for literally no one else I know.
ive invented (note: dubious claim) something i call the bear diet which is mostly fruits and vegetables with fish as the main protein source and something like once a month you eat a few hyperprocessed foods of your liking because that is when you, the bear, raid a dumpster in the suburbs
after the hyperprocessed foods, do you take tranquilizers to simulate getting captured by animal control and returned to the wild?
i would settle for melatonin gummies but well. knock yourself out
has anybody else noticed that the classic sci fi novel Don’t Create The Torment Nexus features a Torment Nexus? that’s pretty problematic of the author
I hate this saccharine, cloying, infantilizing way trans men are talked down to by their own community when speaking about the words they choose to describe their experiences and oppression
‘Oh yes, you do experience a valid intersectional form of oppression - but you’re just so fucking stupid, that you’ve chosen a terrible word to articulate your experiences. So we aren’t going to listen to anything you say! You’re just so silly and stupid, you can’t possibly be trusted to articulate your own thoughts and experiences, let alone be trusted to do your own research. In fact, don’t even think or talk at all! Leave all the thinking and talking to the smart people whose suffering actually matters.
Also, no your experiences aren’t unique at all, negating the previous statement of you experiencing a valid intersectional form of oppression’
The tone of voice is no different than when people try to manipulate trans men into detransitioning - overly sweet, infantilizing and concerned while also being incredibly backhanded and demeaning
Nothing will ever be good enough. I just roll my eyes at this shit now
That post that's like "afab housing reveals the difference between transmisogyny and transandrophobia: trans women are denied housing while trans men just have to misgender themselves to get housing" is so stupid. I think the only thing it reveals is these people's view that trans men getting misgendered is simply not as big of a deal as when it happens to trans women.
Like, in this hypothetical scenario, both the trans man and woman have the exact same choice: get misgendered or get denied housing... Except a trans woman getting misgendered is framed as worse than being homeless while trans men should just like... Shut up and deal with it, I guess.
This is actually a really good example of an issue all trans people experience and should be able to relate to each other about, but these people are too busy sniffing their own oppression Olympics farts to think about what other types of trans people go through.
flashback to when I got a little too gnc in my new profile pic, and my mom caught on that I had The Gender (which she was super supportive about, tbc), but didn't want to ask about it outright. so she started making up never-before-seen euphemisms
one thing that irks me about "just do diy!" when i talk about how expensive it is to get on T legally is like. i don't hear that with any other illegal/controlled medications. i take concerta for my adhd and have not once heard someone tell me to just go get street adderall
People in my notes of my youth liberation post keep asking me if I think kids should be allowed in bars, and it's driving me up the wall for two main reasons:
1. My original post was talking about the ways I watched my mother get harassed for bringing toddlers to *the grocery store.* Jumping to "omg so you think kids should be allowed in BARS?!" is a hell of a stretch.
2. If you have to be 18 or 21 to get into a bar/club, duh, that's not a place for kids. They check ID at the door for a reason. But not every bar is like that. My favorite local bar is actually a brewery and family pub with board games and big tables for game nights. They host food trucks and have a nice outdoor seating area. I have been up there for multiple community events that welcome kids and families. I have literally held a toddler at the pub while their mama got herself a glass of cider from the bar as an "I just stopped breastfeeding and can have a drink again" treat. Family-friendly establishments that also serve alcohol are, like, 100% a thing. Hell, *Applebee's* has both a kids' menu and an alcohol menu.
"Do you want trans men to be treated like a different kind of men????" Hmmmm yea. They have uteruses and vaginas so they need different medical care. They also have high rates of sexual abuse and there's no laws in place of protecting trans men being physically abused. Like yea, we do need them to be treated like a different kind of men because they are a different kind of man.
Always a good time to burn down yet another village!

when you’re a little girl boys will say “so if boys and girls are equal that means I get to hit you right?”
and then you grow up to be a trans man and people will say to you “oh i thought you wanted to be a man, that means you have to put up with [abusive behavior]”
and they will tell you these 2 things do not stem from the same desires of gendered punishment and control
I reject the premise that trans women are the "main" targets of transphobia. I reject the premise that trans women are victimized more, worse, or more intentionally by transphobia than trans men. I reject the premise that trans men are only accidental or secondary targets of transphobia. I reject the premise that trans men are merely splash damage casualties in attacks against trans women. I reject the premise that trans men are only accidentally harmed by transphobia.
I should not have to post about transmasc issues with a disclaimer that "of course" trans women are hurt worse by this. I should not have to apologize for posting about transmasc issues instead of transfemme issues.
There is nothing accidental about transphobia. Every facet of it is intentional. Trans men are not bystanders in the genocide against all trans people. Trans men aren't accidental targets of trans genocide.
"they own one, maybe two or three buildings and often live off the cash flow"
I'm sorry but it's hard to emphasize with SF landlords, I really don't care. We shouldn't prioritize these families when so many are homeless
Landlord voice: "it's so hard to be rich, people want to live in houses that are empty but I can't afford to relocate them, and that person might not want to leave the house I own in a city I have visited twice"
Taxes apartments that have been vacant for longer than six months.
The obvious solution is to make it more expensive to leave the units empty than to maintain them as actual human habitations.
“The last thing Grace sees from Earth is a rainbow. Culturally, rainbows tend to represent hope and renewal in various mediums and media. In the movie, this meaning is adopted through Grace as we see him with rainbow motifs. It is a representation of his metamorphosis as a person and his arduous journey—
My dumbass: THE UNIVERSE IS CALLING HIM QUEER
this is the funniest thing ever because every 6 weeks the trans internet circulates a photo of a 15~ year old trans boy wearing any even slightly alt fashion and mocks them relentlessly.
and then they get mad at us for not using our privilege to break down barriers of what a man should/can look like whenever they catch a guy who looks like a normie cis man
