I also appreciate that they establish so early on just how much Mal values her mother's approval- she seems genuinely happy here, after Maleficent gave her a compliment, "That's my nasty little girl." It's a good setup for her character arc.

IMO, the scene from D1 where the Villain Kids break into the museum, specifically when Mal uses a spell to open the door just as Jay goes to kick it in is PEAK Core 4 interactions--

Mal: *makes a plan and executes it immediately without telling the others*

Jay: *now on the floor after an unnecessary stunt*

Mal: *amused, gives Jay a kick as she passes, reminding him she's in charge* Coming?

Evie: *also amused, but gives Jay a little pet on the head as a sign of affection as she scampers after Mal*

Carlos: *immediate goes to help Jay up, and check that he's okay* Come on, Jay!

Jay: *brushes off Carlos' help, his ego bruised, irked with Mal but also follows her into the museum* I'm good!

Carlos: Just trying to help. *rolls his eyes at his friends and double checks they're actually being sneaky (making sure the guard is asleep) before catching up with the other three*

His motivational pep talks are kinda ass sometimes. But he's doing his best and he loves hard, okay? (He also 100% has problems with establishing boundaries but who am I to say that)

Was rewatching the descendants movies and i got obsessed with another rarepair,,

I think mals transition between d1 and d2 was ROUGH. like shes adjusting to life without her abusive horrible mom. Life where shes given love and and a second chance and shes not held up to her moms awful expectations yet it feels like her mom truley isnt gone. Shes not used to this, life without her cruel and abusive mother. She hates it and shes not used to this. Nothing feels right, but even more she hates that she doesnt like this change that was obviously for the better

What is she supposed to do? Sit with all this unpacked trauma while everyone just moves on, living their new lives at Auradon?? How is she supposed to move on? Life as she knows it has been forever changed and yea she loves ben and her friends but boy is it one hell of a switch. And not one thats treating her kindly. Her friends understand to a certain point, but she feels like the only one truley scared of her mother, truley stuck in her mother's claws after all these years, even when shes a lizard. And its not like she can go to her friends complaining that she misses her cruel abusive mother in some messed up way because its what she thinks she deserves and it's what shes used to.

That one part in wicked world season 2 pisses me off cause wdym everyone is expecting an apology from mal for messing everything up and being 'evil' WHEN SHE WAS UNDER A SPELL??? AND OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T WANT TO BE DOING ALL THAT??? SHE DIDNT EVEN KNOW SHE WAS DOING ALL THAT. Although the best song ever "Evil" did come from that plot line. but still why are yall treating my girl like that😢
