my thoughts on 19x05!! spoilers below

SORRY I CANNOT START THIS WITHOUT ADDRESSING THE GARVEZ SHAPED ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM THAT SCENE WAS SO SPECIAL AND THEY ARE SO IN LOVE AND PENELOPE IS LUKE'S COMPANION IN EVERY WAY AND THEIR EMBRACE AHHHHHHHH THAT WAS SO ROMANTIC IDC GARVEZ IS COMING

seriously though, i am so pleased with the way everyone treated luke this episode and it really reflects their personalities and relationships with him. penelope pushing through his stubbornness of wanting to bury his feelings and really speaking to his heart, because she's a fierce empath and like they both said, she sees him. jj validating his emotions and acknowledging the complexity of grief when he trivialized his own hurt to avoid dismissing hers (this hit hard for me and made me need to hug him immediately because oh boy do i get that). emily guiding him with a kind and generous hand, giving him the freedom to work out the case even when he overstepped because though she knew he was really struggling, she also knew that he could (and needed to) work through it. her affirmations on his work and and her steady support both as a friend and supervisor were a quiet, but strong presence throughout the episode. she's an incredible leader and person and friend and i could go on and on about this for pages if you let me. i love her so dearly.

on a less serious note, emily's frustration with brian is still so funny to me but oh boy am i glad my girl got a bit of a break from him at least for most of the episode. tara mentioning that she's married!! to a woman!! it brings me so much joy happy pride month. also she was so incredibly beautiful and glowy and wonderful this episode too i am going to kiss her on the mouth okay i will stop now

anyway luke alvez you are my dear best friend and i am so worried about you but i know you will be okay if you keep your wonderful little village in mind and close to you (though i have fears). emily prentiss you are my wife and i love you and where are your glasses you need your glasses
