Writing question for people who read Steve Saga fics
Iām writing a huge Steve Saga fic behind-the-scenes, and Iāve been debating on how to write the names of the Steve characters.
Iāve been debating between these three options:
Option 1: Name all Steves by their full name. So Iāll call Blue SteveĀ āBlue Steveā or Illusion SteveĀ āIllusion Steve.ā
Pros: Calling them by their full names will help distinguish them from their powers and appearance. Ex: Reading āIllusion Steve uses his illusion powersā is less confusing thanĀ āIllusion uses his illusion powers.ā
Cons: Seeing the nameĀ āSteveā in every other sentence might get tedious real quick.
Option 2: Name all Steves by only their unique first name. So Iāll call Blue SteveĀ āBlueā or Illusion SteveĀ āIllusion.ā
Pros: The fandomās already used to calling Steves by only their first name, so a fanfic that calls Steves by only their first name will probably be easier to read.
Cons: Itāll be hard and confusing to differentiate between the Steveās first name, powers, and appearance if theyāre all in the same sentence or scene, since they would all be called the same thing.
Option 3: Start the first few chapters by naming all Steves by their full name. Spend the first few chapters getting the readers used to the Steves, their personality, appearance, and powers. Then, Iāll switch to just calling the Steves by their first name and call them that for the rest of the fic.
Pros: I get the pros of both options 1 and 2, and probably overcome the cons of options 1 and 2.
Cons: The switch might be too strange to read, and very very noticeable.
Rn Iām learning more towards option 3, but Iām not sure if I want to use that idea. Do you guys think I should do option 3?
If you guys read Steve Saga fics, which option do you prefer me to use?
