I am new to the concept of otherkin (my culture has a similar concept though) and was wondering - I am a fantasy writer an often develop my own characters and fantasy species. I get extremely attached to some of them and then I become kin with them. Is that normal? and Is that welcome in your discord?

I’ve been trying to figure out how to answer this as it’s a pretty complex question and I’m bad with words. Otherkin is involuntary, and not just a connection but BEING that thing. Kintypes can potentially develop, depending on the situation, but it isn’t a choice. It’s involuntary. Copinglinks are characters that you CHOOSE to “link” to or “be”, and otherhearted/fictionhearted is an involuntary* but strong connection—but you aren’t that thing, it is just a connection.

This discord is mainly geared towards past lives, and it is possible your writing is actually related to  past life(s) of yours that found its way into your writing (This happened to me quite a lot before I awakened), but since I don’t know you or your situation, I can’t say if this is the case. Only you can figure this stuff out. Meditation is usually the go to I think, but there are some other methods. Just make sure to be critical of yourself and try to avoid fluff.

*at least I think it’s involuntary, I could be wrong, I’m not involved in that community but I suspect I may be otherhearted with bunnies, I just haven’t really looked into it much.

Back from Unannounced Hiatus

this is Mod Riven. Basically, due to a mental health crisis I basically took a break from social media. I was still checking on the server to see if there was an emergency, but I neglected the blog while I tried to get back on my meds (due to a miscommunication between myself and parents, I was unable to take them--but now I have control over the medbox =/). I will hopefully get through asks today and tomorrow, with the majority being done today (? there are a lot).

How good is your chat at maintaining and encouraging correct use of terminology, introspection, progressive thought and constructive questioning in regards of one's kintype(s)?

i personally trust people to be critical of their own kintypes, but if someone is saying kin is a choice (which hasn’t happened yet as far as i can remember) i will correct them, things like that.

yea sure, go for it :) we post applications privately, (unless its by mistake in which case we try to make it a private post as soon as we see it), but whatever makes you comfortable is fine.

The FAQ is currently being developed so this question is a super good one. No, we don't have any rules or guidelines about your kin(s) as long as they are not factkin! Thank you for asking!
