the concept of tai, whether it be her other self or not, enacting violence in the name of keeping van alive and hers, regardless of what van wants (or, feels comfortable with) is sooooo delicious. really calling back to teen van saying she doesn’t know why she’s still alive and tai saying she Needs van. and van agreeing to that, making tai her entire priority and reason for being in the wilderness. but then they get rescued and tai breaks up with her. and suddenly it’s 25 years later and they’re together again and tai is the one who will do whatever it takes. christ.
