I will say it is pretty steep for Idia to be calling Malleus ‘the enemy of mankind’ considering he tried to bring on the actual apocalypse and kill the entire population a couple weeks prior
Idia said that Malleus is almost the enemy of mankind. Also, his plan is to make sure Silver and Sebek solve the situation while in NRC, thus containing the problem within the bounds of Sage's Island, for that title to not be given.
We can give flack to Idia for Book 6 all we like, he's actually being merciful here. Malleus did royally mess up and will have to suffer consequences for it, sure, but don't put words in Idia's mouth.
Now I'm thinking about them. If you think about it seriously, it would probably be a difficult relationship🥺😭😭😭
Jamil works so hard and Riddle is so serious and inexperienced (um Jamil like too?🤨 CRYING), they're both traumatized and like yk... OMG😭😭😭 What if it was love that they both don't understand.. At least I think they could be good friends🛐
BUT Besides, Jamil is really kind and understanding❤️💗 So he could take care of Riddle from some side
No, more seriously, these two are one pair I want to see come to understand one another.
Sure, it will absolutely be rocky at the beginning, no question asked (especially if Jamil goes with his first impression of what Riddle's life could be like, as hinted in Book 4). But there's something neither of them are realizing right now, and it's that they're the most likely to understand how it feels to not have control over their lives (Jamil with being Kalim's servant, Riddle with his overly strict mother), and the notion of having some sort of grade-related expectation (the top for Riddle, no higher than Kalim for Jamil. I like to joke they're both at the top of something, as the normal/bell curve does have one ^^')
Also, Jamil is canonically a good cook, and Riddle wants to try and get better at cooking (as a symbol of his possible independence).
Finally, and no offense to the one I'm about to throw under the bus in two minutes, but for how naive and sheltered Riddle can be, the other best option to tutor Kalim is one slimy octopus by the name of Azul Ashengrotto.
I swear there could be more to talk about, but it was completely improvised, I'm getting tired and thinking is becoming harder.
they should have riddle's dream reference the scene in alice in wonderland when alice cries so much that she nearly drowns in her own tears. because i want to see more riddle-alice parallels and also because i love being in pain and suffering ❤️
don't forget that he also cries in both the game and the manga after he breaks free of his overblot 🥺🥺 riddle is kind of shown crying a lot and now that i think of it i wonder if that's on purpose or if it's a coincidence. if twst does reference that specific scene in book 7 then i suspect that i, too, will nearly drown in my own tears.
Especially since the common meanings of drowning in dreams all fit him to an extent:
Overwhelmed by emotions (mostly anger in Riddle's case, but stress too)
A drastic change in one's life (Like, he had to recontextualize and question himself about what happened to him so far and his relationship with his mother since September. And that's not mentioning the Winter Break talk)
Repressed emotions coming to the surface (Even now, about six months later, I'm not sure Riddle is allowing himself to do what he truly wants due to his responsibilities and stuff...)
Feeling like you're losing control (He's already lost it back in September, and well, the Winter Break talk is still a thing that could be involved in this...)
writing advice for characters with a missing eye: dear God does losing an eyes function fuck up your neck. Ever since mine crapped out I've been slowly and unconsciously shifting towards holding my head at an angle to put the good eye closer to the center. and human necks. are not meant to accommodate that sorta thing.
other things I'm bitching about but which could still be useful as writing advice for 1 eyed characters:
2. they're going to favor their sighted side, obviously, but it doesn't always manifest in the way you think. when I walk down a hall I walk much closer to the wall on my sighted side than on my blind side. which is the opposite of how it might seem logical to do that bc it means the world at large is on your bad side, but the reason is I can't fucking See the wall if it's right next to me in the blind side and I end up knocking into it.
3. door frames and poles are my enemy. If your character is smart this will not be a problem but for me it is. I am King of walking into shit I could absolutely see but couldn't tell how far away from me it was. on this note, their blind side hand is getting bashed into every jutting out thing in a 5 mile radius.
4. having 0 depth perception is less of a big deal than you'd think it is. Especially with driving. I've become a Much safer and more wary driver because I can't tell how far the other cars are from me. however I fucking suck at parking now. because I can't tell how far the lines are from me either.
5. you know how people who lose limbs get phantom pains? that happens with eyes too but like. phantom sights. for me it's like. a lot of bugs. like every so often my brain will just put something suddenly skittering beside me there. hate that.
6. it is completely possible to "get stuck" somewhere because your ability to tell how wide a space is is just Gone. shopping isles especially where bumping something or Someone is matter of embarrassment or potentially breaking something. it can be legitimately paralyzing and also irritate everyone around you because they can tell there is Plenty of space for you to get your cart through even if you can't.
7. if the eye is still in their skull it can still be the normal kind of painful. Glares off of shiny surfaces causing weird sharp pains you can't figure out the cause of are genuinely one of gods greatest tests of my patience.

No, his mother would never do this. No, his mother would never be so caring, wouldn't be by his side in his final moments. As drastic as that is. It reveals that despite all the abuse Riddle has gone through, he is still trying to make his mother proud. He is still trying to prove his worth to her!!
There's something so raw, and horribly real in that. In the thought that what it took for her to actually soften up for Riddle was for him to nearly die. For him to go through something so life-threatening that his mom would actually care for him. That if she just finally saw his pain so blatant, and THERE, that there was no way for her to ignore it. That maybe she would call for him, that she would expression any sort of worry for him. That maybe him nearly dying would be enough for her to finally care, or love, him like she should.
But even in such a mentally gone state, he knows that isn't true. He knows that his mother would not go crying out for him in such a manner. And he's so blinded by his love, or his want to be worthy, for her that he cannot possibly see how any other person would be so desperately worried for him. Or to be the one comforting him. He cannot possibly comprehend WHY, or WHO.

Or maybe he just doesn't realize how much he matters to other people. Or how important he is as a Housewarden, as a friend, as a person. Or maybe his mom's treatment of him has screwed up his perception of how he should be treated by other people that he cannot possibly think of anybody else.
Punishment, and strict discipline is what it means to be cared for. To be loved.

What if another reason why he couldn't think about anyone else is because he was (at least subconsciously) now painfully aware of how most of the dorm hates him (as showcased by the riot before the overblot), and Trey also went against him as he was mentally falling.
Who would want him to keep on living after what he's done, both now and for the past year, after all?
Not realizing (because of his too far gone state, and perhaps how warped his sense of love is) that Trey went against him when he went too far because he cares.
The pure abandonment,,, thee agony Riddle must've went through thinking he was gonna die alone (in both the "overblotting kills!" sense, and the "everybody here hates me. Now I'll be known as a failure of a mage to them, and my family. Etc" sense).
He's supposed to be surrounded by peers, his childhood friend was supposed to stand by his side through all of this, yet he has never felt isolation like this since his childhood. He's never been so pulled away from the people that were suppose to BE THERE FOR HIM. So now he's discarded cause of.. what?? Convenience?? Pride?? Ego??
Or is it because he's so hated, even by Trey, that even he isn't willing to call out for him. Everybody Riddle hoped would be there for him when he needed them the most, are just gone. Without a word. Without even left-over hope that in some desperate fragment of his psychic that they would call for him. That someone. Anybody. Would be there.

hi... something so interesting to me abt Rollo is that while we don't know exactly what happened to Ortho (I think it's implied he mightve still been alive but they couldn't feasibly separate him from the phantom and sent both down?) and we don't know exactly what Idia saw. Rollo recalls no one helping. Rollo literally hears his brother's voice begging him for help in glomas, so it's implied he watched his little brother burn from start to finish.. isn't that tragic?

I do agree Ortho’s death is a little vague, but from what we know, Idia saw him get attacked + then blacked out and assumed he was dead
but it does seem like Ortho must’ve been in a state between life and death and unable to be removed from the phantom, eventually getting fused with the other phantoms..? definitely gruesome either way
but yeah 😭 Rollo’s brother manifested his magic at an age too early than he could handle and ended up burning alive in front of Rollo
which is part of why Rollo being mischaracterized in the fandom is really upsetting to me
“he hates malleus because he’s a fae! he’s racist!” No. He hates mages because none of the ones around him bothered to help his brother as he was burning alive. He hates mages because he ended up manifesting as one and becoming the very embodiment of the thing that took his brother away from him. He hates himself more than anything and he projects this hatred onto Malleus simply because he’s one of the most powerful mages in the world.

I went for Apollyon here. Some of my new followers may not know that Apollyon is not his birth name. He was given it in his first year. I wanted something vaguely religious, but not too close to Diablo. I settled on Apollyon because the only religious figure that we’ve seen thus far is Hades, who is Ancient Greek. (Is he even considered religious in that way in twst?) No, Polly was not impressed when he found out what his new name meant.

I went with Harriet for this question! She is 18 and her birthday is February 15th. I’m not sure who she’s closest in age to, but she did get collared once when Riddle told her not to patronise him, as she was only 6 months older than. The question “Six months what?” Was not amusing, apparently.
... Is that the first time I actually celebrate a blorbo's birthday with a drawing? I don't remember doing so with Alcryst and Tee doesn't have an official one...

Billy is in the same class as Vil (3-C). They're also clubmates but that's besides the point.
They usually keep a healthy distance between each other, not interacting more than necessary, while keeping an eye (or a Rook in Vil's case) on the other. Also, they have the weirdest dynamic in Flight class of 👑: "Could you please take this seriously?" 👁️: "Alright, what do I need to improve to credibly look worse at this?"
As for previous classmates... I'll admit I never thought about it. Despite the potential concept of someone being in the same class as him back in freshman year, and so knows he's way better at flight than he would like to make it look.

Cyfrin is in the same class as Malleus (3-D). Throughout their time together, Cyfrin was mostly curious (if a bit apprehensive, mostly due to how they share the same country of birth)... Without spoiling, this lasted until Book 7.
I could see a previous classmate of his (probably freshman year?) to be Rook. That could help cement their relationship within the Science Club, as they could have joined it together.
As an aside, he also happens to be classmate of three years with Arley Whittaker (@flanpuddle 's OC). We call them "the classmates ever" in a Discord server, due to how they're close via their interactions (Arley being one of the few to be able to handle some of Cyfrin's usual hijnks) but would deny being friends. Arley was also the victim of the Hat Fight.

Billy's hobbies include playing the piano, spontaneously singing "We'll Meet Again" and sometimes trying to invent something. That last one works 1% of the time (until Cyfrin intervenes).
Lowkey, I would pay for a Billy and Azul piano duet. It probably would cost me an arm and a leg, since it's Billy and Azul, but still.

Cyfrin's hobbies are journaling, chasing cryptids and making logic puzzles. Usually involving ciphers of some kind.
While I don't see many people who would join him on the first, I could see Rook or Lilia tagging along for the second. Being with Rook gives that patented "Science Club excursion" vibe, too.
As for the third, following the Incident in September, I could potentially see Riddle being one of the people who would try and solve them. Once he has some time to spare. Or really needs a distraction like right now.
