So the beyond is boring, can I crash on your couch? | (probably not a) Sin City AU | Natasha and Kitty
Natashaâs circuit of the house continued but her steps turned from exploratory to predatory. She prowled from room to room nearly silently, sharp eyes watching shadows and hiding spots. The house is, for the most part, silent. In the kitchen the refrigerator hums and somewhere down the hall the internal air kicks in to funnel a cool draft down the hallway, but there are no sounds of life.
It was why the thwack of Natashaâs notebook being dropped on something in the kitchen immediately catches her attention. She swiveled and marched directly back the way she came, striding into the kitchen to stop very short.
"You," she said evenly. "Are not recently deceased Evelyn Williamson, aged 63."
"Probably a good assumption." Kitty fought the urge to smirk. She was half tempted to move back, sit on the counter, but she was still determined to stay intangible as long as she could pull it off. Just to be on the safe side in this.
"Unless she somehow went back to her better years to haunt for the rest of her very existence. Which I don't think is how that works, but, I mean, you would be the expert to ask there, now wouldn't you?" She arched an eyebrow, on hand resting on her hip, because she was pretty sure they both knew the answer there.
This wasn't the first sham psychic she'd run across. Of course, this was the first one that had been called on her.
"Though, I can save you a little time and tell you that Evelyn has, most definitely, gone into the light. There's no one else here but me and the friendly little schmucks who pay for the place."
