Not gonna lie, I really miss the friends I don’t have anymore. I miss celebrating their highs, comforting their lows, enjoying the in betweens. I miss the wealth of things I would talk about with the friends I still have, the closeness I had with others.

Western history loves to brag about their geniuses, philosophers, thinkers, and innovators throughout history but as far as I know, nobody talks about geniuses in non western history. Why can’t an Aztec community have their neighborhood Einstein who loved to study engineering and physics and helped build an efficient-running town?
The fact that western culture is more comfortable with the idea of Egyptian pyramids being either A: unexplainable or B: built by aliens instead of just assuming ancient Egyptians were smarter than us and figured out how to build really fucking insane architecture way ahead of its time in way shorter time periods really says something about how systemically racist western culture and understanding of history is
“We still don’t really fully definitively know how the pyramids were built, so we can’t say the Egyptians actually built it” fucking yes we can, Dave. They were like, the civilization living there at the time of course they were the ones who built it. They were just really smart accept it.
Like, when we talk about how poor people have no choice but to shop at walmart, that's because walmart has put hundreds (at this point maybe thousands) of other stores out of of business over the last few decades.
If you live in a smaller town/city in America, your parents or grandparents probably remember when the first Walmart got built there and entire shopping centers went under within a year.
In the early 90s I knew Walmart as a store about an hour away that had seemingly better, cooler things than Kmart or our other major shopping chain, "Ames". I got excited to go because they sold a wider array of different toys, like the Trend masters Godzilla action figures, and their store brand food and candy was all more delicious than the same things from anywhere else, though they didn't yet have a grocery section. It was the "nice" store only some towns were "lucky* enough to have lol
I remember when my home town celebrated the new Walmart being built in the next town over. They thought ‘this is it, this is going to improve our lives and bring us out of poverty!’ …and then the shops on Main Street started struggling worse than before. Some immediately folded, and some tried to hold out. Walmart didn’t hire a lot of people from our town. And the ones that did, didn’t get the pay that they thought they would. But it was too late. Walmart chewed that town up and spat it out.
I asked and people seemed interested, so here's a breakdown of Din's armor!
Please note that not all of this is 100% screen accurate and comes mainly from my own experience drawing him and cosplay experience! So keep that in mind.
I tried to get multiple angles on the more complicated stuff, like the chest plate and the gauntlet, cause those are the ones I personally find most difficult! But other than that, I cannot recommend using 3D references enough! Specifically I use this model and this whenever I draw Din and used them a lot for this tutorial. You can spin him around right on the webpage so you don't need to download software or anything!
Other than that I really recommend just drawing him a lot, from lots of angles! That's the best way to get comfortable with drawing this funny tin guy.
Depending on the response, I might do another reference for the soft bits/extra armor/belts! Just lmk on here or in the tags if you're interested. Oh and also one for Boba or Paz!
