Good afternoon, Tulsa! What’s everyone up to this Saturday?
My Heroine | Brynn & Allister
brynnturner
They were all growing up, the years passing seamlessly, but in this moment, she was alive with no worries for what tomorrow would bring. She used to live so much of her life in fear, one could hardly call it living at all. Now, she didn’t waste a second. Being here with Seth, going to meet Allister for some big surprise, this is what life was about.
Putting the car in park, she leaned back, listening to his question and what they had initially thought of her. “All my life,” she began, her mind’s eye taking her back to that moment, “I had been told how scary the Greasers, even the monsters in my bedtime stories were from battles my father had with the Greasers. But the moment our eyes found each other and he smiled, I had never felt more safe. He made me laugh, and I couldn’t stop thinking about that clumsy Greaser kid for weeks. I was more conflicted back then, but whenever I saw him, none of that rivalry stuff mattered. I knew there was no one in the world like him, and I wanted to know him.” She laughed, looking over at Seth with a brightness in here that discovering herself had brought to her. These boys were her life, and she was grateful she hadn’t missed out on them.
“Wow-- That’s a pretty good answer.” His smile brightened. Everything felt paused as he played that night back in his head. How things have changed. “I’ll just never forget the way he looked at you that night. I had never seen so much, I don’t know, I guess-- hope in his eyes? It really was something else.” Seth continued to explain as he stepped out of the car and lead the way towards the empty lot across from where the car was parked.
On one of the car speakers was a small box, untouched by anyone. Seth grabbed it carefully and handed it towards Brynn. “For you.”
In the box was an old photograph of the young couple. Allister was sporting a white dress shirt with a thin black tie while Brynn was dressed to the nines, beautiful as always. The background behind them was filled with balloons taped to the walls and some rather tasteful streamers. On the back of the photograph, Allister’s messy handwriting read
Psffft, the only reason we would ever get dirty looks here is because of our amazing dance moves. We were unstoppable. We are unstoppable. Maybe we can dance here again one day. I love you. Bright Eyes.

Her eyes lit up and her smile spread wide as she saw him, glancing the room quickly for Allister before his absence was explained. Looking back at his partner-in-surprise crime, she couldn’t help but laugh. In all her life, she was never happier than she was doing something with these wonderfully crazy boys, and she’d spend the rest of her life making the most of these friends.
Taking the paper, she read it as old memories reawakened with such vibrancy she might have experienced it only yesterday. Meeting him, how nervous he was, how much she was pushed out of her own comfort zone. He rearranged her life in the most beautiful way. She became who she was always meant to be because he inspired her, supported her, loved her.
“I’ll never forget that night, not ever,” she told Seth, smiling with her whole heart, “let’s go!” Bouncing on her heels, she grabbed his hand, “we’ve got a drive-in to get to.”
“Yeah we do!” Seth cheered as he felt his hand being captured by Brynn’s. Laughter bubbled from his lips as they rushed down the staircase and darted into the parking lot. Hopping in Brynn’s car, Seth quickly put his seat belt on and looked over at Brynn with an enormously large smile. “Let’s do this.” His heart was so happy. His best friend was proposing to this amazing person, Brynn Turner, one of his best friends, and Seth couldn’t be more thrilled. He wanted to be with them through everything. From tonight to their wedding night to every night until they all grow old. Seth’s love for these amazing people would never run out.
Arriving at the drive-in, a small smirk grew onto his face as he remembered the first time meeting Brynn. How things have changed. “If you don’t mind me asking..” Seth’s voice was filled with a slight calm as he looked over towards Brynn, his eyes meeting with hers, “What was going through your mind when you met Allister for the first time? What did you think when you first saw him there, well, after he bumped into you?” Laughter peaked through his words. “I only ask, because I know how the night went according to Allister by heart. We talked about it for a solid week.” He paused, his smile only extending. “See, you were this glamorous girl in our world. We, well, I thought we would never see you again... I’m just happy I was wrong.” Seth’s smile had only extended as he watched Brynn. She was so wonderful and he was so fortunate to have gotten to know her. “So, what was it like in the mind of Brynn Turner, bumping into a greaser like Allister Woods?”
My Heroine | Brynn & Allister
There was always an excitement that tingled violently in her veins whenever she could go over to Allister’s. From the moment she saw him at the drive-in, she knew she would love him forever. He was sunshine, and through the entire year the sun refused to shine, she couldn’t move on because her soul knew its mate would reunite with it again.
All the challenges and painful breakings were worth it for what they had now. They were stronger, individually and as a couple. There was no one prouder of him than her, and vice versa. She laughed to herself, hearing Seth ‘begging to differ’ on that point in her head. Driving over to the other side wasn’t scary anymore when she thought of where she was going. Allister was home, it wasn’t a place, it was a person. No matter where they ended up, if she was with him, she was home.
Parking, she hopped out, a bounce on her heels. Looking up at the building, to the window she knew was his, a smile broke on her lips. Taking a few steps, she slipped into a run as she hurried to his door. Knocking a playful rhythm before rummaging through her bag for her keys.
Tonight would be magical, and oh, she didn’t even have a clue just how magical it would be.
Hearing the knock on the door, Seth immediately sprang to his feet with great excitement. A smile stretched across his face as everything jittered inside of him. This was it. She was here. It was really going to happen. “Carol Ferris, my dear, welcome.” He announced as he opened the door for her. “I’m glad you could make it.” He said while closing the door behind her.
“Now before you ask where Allister is, let me explain. He has a late 11 month anniversary date planned out for you. But, he decided to make it memorable for you.” He cleared his throat, before laughter began to bubble from his lips. He tried his hardest to remain as serious as he could. “Okay so, Green Lantern is waiting for you, but you’ve just got to figure out where. So, technically, I can’t really give you the answer to your question. Luckily for you, you do have me as a hint giver.” Seth stuck his tongue out slightly as his smile extended brightly across his face.
“So, before we go to our final destination, we have to go on a little hunt for some more clues– Are you ready for your first clue? Because it’s ready for you!” He laughed as he pulled out a little slip of paper and handed it to Brynn.
It reading: Bright Eyes, your journey begins where we began. The sunset is something eagerly waited for here. As soon as the sun goes down, the entertainment comes up.
“According to GL, they grow increasingly harder with each clue.” Seth piped in as he waited for Brynn to finish reading and to begin the hunt.

“So we’re not going to comic book night at the library?” Seth teased as he helped Allister put the blankets in the backseat of Betsy.
“You’re a real hoot, Flash. A real hoot.” He laughed while closing the trunk. “I think this about covers it. You know where to lead her first right?” Allister asked, a slight look of worry shifted onto his face. His mind was overflowing with thoughts. His heart was beating faster with every passing minute. He was equally excited as he was nervous. It was the pressure of perfection on his shoulders. Tonight had to be perfect. It was the night, the night he had been planning on since the first time he saw Brynn at that drive-in. With those bright eyes staring back at him, he knew in his heart she was the one. This night was the night he would sweep Brynn off of her feet and ask her to join him in spending the rest of their lives together. So, it had to be perfect.
“Yes, yes, yes! I knew it the first time we practiced it. Don’t worry. Just take Betsy and go to the final destination already!" Seth softly pushed his friend into the jeep and watched as he drove down the street.
“Now for my part!” He said to himself as he ran up the stairs to his friend’s apartment and awaited for Brynn. “Boy, tonight will go down in history as one of the greatest surprises in Tulsan history.” Seth mumbled to himself as he sat down and patiently waited.
you’re my peach,
you’re my plum,
you’re my earth,
you’re my sun
Something I've been meanin' to tell you, About three years and a day. I'd very much like to get married, Maybe have kids and move away, 'Cause there ain't nothing like your smile, Your legs and those eyes. I will beg and steal and borrow To keep you safe your whole life.
@Green Lantern
“Uhhh.” Seth bit on his lip for a moment, contemplating. “Well, if I did talk to Brynn… It’d give us time to catch up. I feel like I haven’t seen her in forever and then I could help you out. But, wouldn’t she be a little suspicious? Let’s face it. Brynn is smarter than both of our little heads combined.” Laughter filled his voice as he spoke with honesty. “She can figure stuff out. Do you think she’d catch on?”
“Well, of course she’ll figure it out if you’re not sneaky. So, you’re going to have to act really discrete about it. Just casually bring it up. Don’t be nervous. You can do this, Flash.” A bright grin filled his face as the thoughts of their future continued to fill his head. “This is so exciting.”
@Green Lantern
“That does sound complicated… But, I mean— It’s you and Brynn, it’s you guys. You guys are like chocolate milk. You can’t have one without the other. I mean, we all know independently you guys are great— but together you guys make the most amazing drink in the world.” Seth’s smile extended across his face as their drinks quickly came to the booth. Both having a traditional chocolate milk.
“Yeah, I think I am. I mean, when she and Brynn caught that bouquet at Carmen and Rodney’s wedding— I started thinking about it, more than I already had been. I just, I don’t know. I don’t know if the timing is right— If she even wants to get married— Do you think she wants to get married? I love her. I want to spend the rest of my life with her. But, what makes marriage so different than what we already have? You see what I’m saying?— And oh, god. What if she says no? Do you know how awkward that would be?” Seth’s face was a mix between illuminated and shaken.
“Okay, first-- I don’t think there’s ever going to be the ‘right time’. I just think you ask when you know-- But, I’m really not the guy you should be asking. Ask Cain! Or better yet, you should talk to Brynn. She talks to Jamie. You could get an insider scoop from her. Plus-- you could talk to her for me... See where she’s at with the whole wedding idea, huh? What do you say?” He winked, laughter filling his voice. “I mean... It’s not a bad idea... I could talk to Jamie for you.. We could do our famous Flash and Green Lantern investigating.”
@Green Lantern
“Girl advice? Well, I guess it could fall under that category.” He wiggled his eyebrows comically as he nudged his friend. “I need advice… On, well, ya’ know— The future? We just need to talk.” He struggled with his words as he opened the door to the diner. “Have you thought about asking Brynn to marry you yet?” His words seemed to just spill out of his mouth now. Forget a filter.
His jaw dropped a little as he registered Seth’s question. His heart warmed a little bit at the thought, though. In fact, laughter filled his words as he began to speak, as if he had been thinking about it right that minute, “Of course I’ve thought about it. I’ve thought about it a lot. In fact, the more I think about it the more I want to hop down on one knee and pop that stupid great question. It’s just--” Sighing a little, Allister sat across from Seth in their booth. “It’s just complicated. I don’t know what to do about the whole Edwin situation. I don’t want to not talk to him-- But if I do talk to him, it’ll make it impossible for Brynn and me. Plus, I don’t want Brynn to have to worry about her father and just. Socs and Greasers. Can’t we just be neutral?” He laughed a little.
Scratching the back of his neck, he looked up at his friend. “Wait-- Are you thinking about asking Jamie to marry you?” A large smirk spread across his face as he awaited an answer.
@Green Lantern
“GL, we need a Betsy’s meeting— ASAP!”
“Oh, a Betsy’s meeting? Something must be going on. What’s up? You need girl advice?“ Laughter filled his voice before patting his friend on the back. “Alrighty, a Betsy’s meeting it is.”
@Brynn
Her heart stopped as she opened the little bag and pulled out the necklace, tears welling in her eyes. “It’s perfect,” she breathed, holding it delicately in her hand. “We’ll make our tradition…thank you,” Brynn pressed her lips gently to his. The last seven months hadn’t been easy, but it had been the best second chance any two people could have received. However uncertain the future would always be, she knew they would make it because neither were the give up type. They had decided to be fighters, and they would fight for each other forever.
"It’s not much," she whispered as she pulled back and reached in her purse, "not even a gift really. It’s more of a promise." She handed him an envelope, on it was scribbled in her elegant hand the word ‘future.’ As she waited for him to open it, she bounced on her feet before she burst suddenly, "it’s my schedule…for some classes. Um, business classes. I watched my dad when I was a little girl, I know how a business should be run, and I think I’d be good at it. Someday, Tulsa is going to have a center, a safe place, for girls and boys…that I’m going to run. Hailey will teach them to dance if they want, Carmen and Rodney can teach them to be leaders, Jamie will make sure each one feels like they matter, Cain will bring animals in, you can teach them cars, Seth will make them laugh and remind them all they are superheroes, and maybe Bria will teach them self-defense or something. I don’t want the next generation to be a copy of our own, I want them to grow, I want them to feel special…I want them to change the world. And that’s what that is, it’s a start. It’s a promise to you that I will be your partner always, and we may not have all the money in the world, but we are going to do so much more than make money. We did not suffer in vain, we suffered so a few others won’t ever have to face the same. That’s what I promise you."
His love for her was never ending. Every single day they spent together, his heart grew with more and more love. And as she spoke about her plans for the future, a future they would shared together, his heart felt this incredible way of not only love, but invincibility. He felt as if they could conquer the world. Together, they could do anything. He knew she was going to change the world, he knew she was going to make it a better place, and as he opened the envelope, his grin shone beams of light. He was so proud of her. Proud of where they had come from and where they were going. Proud of her ideas for Tulsa. Proud of everything they were. He wouldn't change a single thing. "I don't care if we live in a car, I want to do that. I want that future with you. I want to change the world with you." He paused for a moment as his smile brightened, "I don't think I've ever wanted anything more than that future with you. You're going to change the world and I promise to be right by your side as you do. I promise to never doubt you and most certainly, I promise to never stop believing in you." He leaned in, wrapping his arms around her, as his lips met hers.
@Brynn
"So, uhm, I'm a little late on the whole celebrating Valentine's day thing, but psfft. Who needs a day to show how much they love someone? They should do that every single day." A grin managed to spread across his face as he pulled out a little bag and handed it to her. "So, uhm, this isn't just a gift for yesterday. It's also a gift for the seven months you managed to stick by my side again. For the seven months you've been patient and kind and loving and your overall extraordinary self. I love you, Brynn Turner and I'll always love you."
