"And if you need, like, a surplus of extra bombs to throw at the haters, I got you. Just sayin. Just don't tell the boss, yeah?"
Allie blinked, momentarily stunned by the loud voice so quickly followed by a whisper after. Eventually a grin spread across her face eyes lighting up. "Well thank you! You're the dynamite yourself!"
Looking around she lowered her voice and leaned closer to the Vulpera. "I wouldn't turn down maybe a couple. So long as you dont tell the boss too." Straightening she winked and dissolved into laughter.
(( @safrona-shadowsun I'm pretty sure this was from you, so thank you for the ask! ))
Sinful Sunday: What does Allie find to be really sexy about people? Does her own partner live up to that?
"Is it...odd...that I like playful personalities? Like someone who's happy to laugh...maybe its a nice laugh. Just...seeing the raw joy like that is something I'm drawn too. I like it...a lot..." A flush crept along her cheeks along with a shy smile. "And my boyfriend does have a nice laugh."
There was a long pause after that before she ducked her head. Her voice lowered to a squeaked out whisper. "H-hands. I-I like talented or interesting hands...." Face fully red she hustled away, fanning her face.
(( @alastar-wyatt for mentions~ ))
Safrona spoke over the personal courier comms. "I'll have to have you meet another little bird I know, Little Sparrow. She's recently 'flown her cage', so to speak. She could learn a little about making it out here in the world like you, and still be so down to earth. You're such a charming little thing too."
"I'd love too ma'am! Anyone you think I should meet is bound to be an interesting person." The words came as a happy chirp in response.
Musing for a moment she continued, "I dunno how much I could share or teach someone. But I'd be happy to try at least. If there's a good way to make contact let me know! I hope I can make friends with her even if I can't show her very much!"
(( @safrona-shadowsun I'm sorry for the delay in getting this to you! But Allie would love to make friends with @serenas-dawnsinger! ))
motion: How does your OC move? How does their clothing help or hinder their range of motion? Are they flexible, coordinated, clumsy?
((I'll chime in, easier for me to answer than have her answer!
Allie moves like her namesake 'Little Sparrow'. She's quick, darting here and there. But almost always moving in some way! Even when she sits still she moves! A bouncing leg, rocking, fidgeting, etc. She's a girl in motion!
Her clothes tend to compliment that. She likes clothes that fit her without being restrictive. She doesn't have a lot of time for things that are too loose or flowy in case they get in the way of her running around, and by the same token she doesn't want things that are skin tight as it just feels like she'd tear something if she moved too quickly.
To answer the final question: She's pretty flexible, moving with a surprising amount of coordination and balance. If she slows down there's a gracefulness to her movements but generally she just tries to be quick.
Hopefully that answers your questions and thank you for them @losseignol!))
Sweet Sunday - "You make me smile more than you know. I can't help it when I hear your voice. And you are cute as hell."
Allie climbed the stairs to her little studio, humming softly as she unlocked the door. "I'm ho-oh he's not here." The words started a cheerful chirp as she dropped her satchel by the door but stopped when she realized Alastar wasn't there at the moment.
Bustling about she tidied the place and settled cross legged on the floor by the bed. Flipping through mail she opened a few pieces, scanning the contents absently. A thump of the door opening made her look up and flash Alastar a grin as he stepped, arms carrying a bag of groceries. "Welcome home!"
Returning to her mail she flipped to an unmarked envelope. Ripping into it she hummed softly as she unfolded the letter inside. The creak of her boyfriends form settling on the bed behind her, peering at the letter over her shoulder hit her ears as she read the sweet words written.
"Seems like you have an admirer." His voice sounded gruffer than usual, making her tilt her head back to blink at him.
"You didn't write this? Wait..." A grin danced across her face, wicked and amused. "Aw, Alastar, are you getting jealous? I assumed you wrote this sweet note! Obviously if you didn't write this, it was meant for someone else. Don't worry."
Reaching up she pulled him down to peck his lips. "Only one who sends me sweet notes is you."
(( @alastar-wyatt for mentions. But thank you anon! I loved seeing the sweet words! ))
36. Does your character have any medical conditions? Are they serious or minor? Do they affect their day to day life?
Allie kicked her legs, perched upon her spot on a crate. âNotâŠ.mmmâŠwell yes. But recent issues, not something I was born with.â
Sighing she held her feet out, legs straight as she stared at her boots. âSo Iâve never actually had a full medical checkup. By human standards Iâm barely an adult, but when I was youngerâŠwellâŠdoctors are expensive if you donât know someoneâŠand if you do know someone the last thing I wanna do is burden them with checking out my health. Besides Iâm a street bird, not exactly someone youâd see going to a doc.â
Lowering her legs she rubbed her left knee for a moment. âA handful of years ago I learned on my own how to channel lightning. Watched a Master Monk do it, andâŠI put together the piecesâŠbut Iâve never been formally trained to do it.â Raising her hands before her she pressed palms together.
The smell of ozone filled the air as she pulled her hands apart and emerald and blue arcs of electricity danced between her palms and around her fingers. It lasted only a few moments before it stopped and she closed her hands into fists.
âI figured out I could channel that into my muscles, cause its all impulses anyway right? So I can move my body faster, hit harder, that sorta thing. WellâŠagain I dunno if Iâm doing it right but I have some numbness and tingling at the extremities. Fingertips, my feet, sometimes my arms and legs. Probably not normal ya know?â A grin tugged at her lips. âBut if I limit how much I do it doesnât get too bad. So I keep a timer in my head when I do it! If I go over, sometimes my heart doesnât feel right.â She shrugged.
âI can manage it though and its fine! ItâsâŠmy leg that is probably closer to what yer askinâ about. I gotâŠmm, its not a big deal on the whyâs, but my left leg is probably a problem. I hit a mine, got lucky but my leg was all cut up and while being a prisoner of war for a bitâŠdidnât have access to anyone who could tend to it right.â A brief frown crossed her face as she looked at her left leg. âI can walk on it, run on it, and can still kick with itâŠbut sometimesâŠit gives outâŠand it hurts. Iâm used to it by now butâŠits something I worry about. Iâm all healed and have a lot of scars from it soâŠ.not sure what could even be done and its probably going to be expensiveâŠso its fine for now!â Â
Her cheerful tone returned as she smiled and shrugged. âIts probably not anything to worry about. Doesnât effect my day to day much. So Iâm fine! Promise!â
((Thank you for the ask @nixalegos! I'm sorry for the delay!))
(Sweet/Sinful Sunday) We all talk about romantic love a lot, but what about platonic love? Tell us about your best friend(s), or about a bond that has persisted through time. What was it like to realize someone was that important to you?
âWell. Am I allowed to say that my best friend is also the man Iâm romantically involved with?â Her lips quirked into a slight grin. âI have other friends as well but Alastar and I haveâŠa longer history than most Iâve come to know. PeopleâŠcome and go from my life. Things get busy, there is constantly some cataclysmic event going on, or wellâŠpeople move on.â
Breathing out a soft breath she continued, âRealizing someone is important to meâŠthat was the easy part. I seek out those kind of bonds and closeness. Iâve never looked for romantic but it found me anyway. But I wanted to findâŠI donât even know how to describe itâŠa home I guess? Iâd love to have family, you know the maternal, paternal, siblings, crazy extended familyâŠbut Iâve been abandoned enough. Iâll find thatâŠwhen it finds me I guess.â
âBut finding people who are important to me? Again thatâs the easy part. I cherish every bond Iâve made. Alastar, my Boss, Rosie, SmokeyâŠjust to name a few. I even have bonds starting to form, more to share my heart with! The Madame, Alastarâs friends, and more. But I recognize people become important to meâŠâ Her voice softened and she looked at her lap. Â
Fingers picked at a loose thread, winding it around and giving it a yank. With a quiet snap lingering in the air of the broken string she sighed. âBut Iâm scared to lose them. I donât haveâŠmuch to offer. And Iâm as hard to pin down and flighty as my name sake. So I think Iâm pretty hard to keep things going withâŠsorry getting sad here. Anyway, I treasure all of my friends and bonds. Iâm not shy to say I love themâŠ.probably notâŠ.okay maybe a little with some of themâŠlook you tell your boss you love them and see what happens! IâŠcould tryâŠwhatever. Look, come be my friend too okay? I have a big heart unlike the rest of me so plenty of room for another!â
((Thank you for the ask @astralfox0893 I'm sorry I'm so late in getting it done!))
FFAF:
Does the little bird feel trapped in a cage sometimes?
Freezing in place Allie stared ahead and then looked down. She tried not to squirm, tried not to touch her back, tried not get caught too much in her head. Finally she sighed, shoulders slumping slightly. "Yes."
A wry smile crossed her lips as she nodded. "Caged by my childhood, by my mother, by my health." Her hands spread slightly.
"I have a brand calling me useless and its hard not to think of myself like that when I have a very physical reminder. Doesn't help that I keep making mistakes in my life...and then from my mother..." A bitter laugh slipped from her lips, "I was already kinda in trouble with the law. But once I became her daughter....well it escalated. Now I have a whole file and record and then she disappeared...."
Shaking her head the smile returned, "Sorry, yes I do. Sometimes its all in my head, sometimes it seems very real. I'm hoping that one day I can be free of the cage even if I'm the one whos built it."
((Apologies for the delay! Thank you for the ask @nahisummerhold!))
"Well that's easy. Am I allowed to be cheesy about it and just say you, smokey, and the fuzzy you?" Her eyes danced as she dissolved into giggles.
Waiving a hand she took a moment to still her giggles.
"There's lots of things that make me happy. Apples make me happy, being my favorite food!." An apple was produced from her satchel, tossed from one hand to the other. "It's nostalgic and I like the taste! Even if people look at me funny about it."
Humming softly she considered. "My loved ones make me happy. People like you, my friends at the office, the people I've met and who have come to cherish someone like me."
Her words ended with a crunch as teeth sank into the flesh of the apple. A few moments of rapid chewing, a hand covering her mouth. "Mmm, an' ah 'ike..." A brief pause as she swallowed. "I like being active. It makes me happy. Running around on rooftops is one thing, but hiking, exploring, sparring. Just...keeping moving and staying active really!"
Bringing the snack to her lips she paused and grinned around it. "There really is a lot that makes me happy. I'm a simple girl with simple pleasures."
âNonsense, Doc, we owe you, butâŠI'm afraid it's a bit more complicated than that.â
For a unit praised for their ruthless efficiency in stealth operations, their footfalls resounded loudly in Selise's ears as they escorted her into the command center. She could hear Nick's voice in her head, why would she willingly get wrapped up in the boy's problems again?
He'd be furious when he found out.
She followed their instructions obediently, being led into the directorâs office where he was already leaned back in the chair behind his ornate desk. He started speaking just as her escorts stepped out and closed the door behind them.
âMy wife tells me you want to collect on our debt.â
For once, Selise was pleased to hear her services garner such consideration. âI do, but she seems to think my request wonât be possible?â
Devin leaned forward and glanced down as he flipped over a few papers. âThis has to do with the increase in unsavory business at the brawl pub?â
Selise nodded. âI have a family member that's gotten swept up in it and no way to safely get them out.â After a moment's pause, she added. âIt's also been negatively impacting my place of business.â
The director sighed and motioned towards a chair in front of his desk. âWeâre aware of the situation,â he started and watched as the doctor lowered herself into a seat. âHow exactly is your family member involved with this group?â
Selise folded her hands in her lap. âI don't know the extent of it, only that I'm afraid they might not make it out.â
Devin drew in a breath. âI know our arrangement, but this operation is large and I can't compromise it.â
She felt the finality of his statement, but pushed forward regardless. âWould their information not be useful?â
Devin narrowed his gaze on Selise. âYou're well aware of where you're sitting. I have an entire building of agents if I want information.â
Selise crossed her legs as her lips drew into a thin line. âYet you don't have enough information to close your operation.â
âCareful.â Devin rumbled, then eyed her with something akin to resentment. âWhat's their name?â
A silence followed, longer than Selise meant it to as she tried to guess what Alastar might be doing. That was the easy part. It was the âwhyâ that she didn't understand. She let out a breath. âA few conditions first.â
Devin swiveled his chair straight, his attention fully on her now. While his look had become less sharp, the gesture of his hand for her to continue was impatient.
âThis only works if you agree to give them immunity. Iâll tell you their name, you get them out. You get your information and then they leave with me. No charges or arrests. It's not worth it to me if their freedom is compromised by your organization.â
Devin let out a low whistle. âDid you think this through, Doc?â He followed up with a hint of amusement. âThatâs a big ask. Some might even say you're withholding information from SI7 in their own building.â
âA debt, I believe those were your words,â she stated matter-of-factly. âThis is merely a business transaction.â
From what Selise knew of Devin, he seemed rather straight laced for a spy master, at least compared to the others in his field that she knew. In fact, she had enjoyed the increased income as well as being able to help agents from a division that seemed to be doing the right things. Putting their business relationship in jeopardy had not been in her plans.
âTheir name.â He finally repeated, causing Selise's breath to catch for a moment. âAnd you have my word they will walk.â
Her eyes scanned the man's face for any hint of deception, even if it was a futile effort, before she responded. âAlastar.â
Devin sighed and relaxed in his chair as he pulled out his communicator. âTom.â While they waited for an answer, his dark eyes flickered back to Selise. âI don't want any more complaints about after hours calls either,â he grumbled.
She smiled nervously as she heard Nickâs sharp reply in her head, but nodded.
âWhat's up boss?â The sound through the comm was clearer than any Selise had heard in the past.
âIs there a kid there? Alastar?â
âI meanâŠI wouldn't call him a kid compared to some of the others. Why?â Tom sounded skeptical.
The implication of Tom's statement made Selise look at Devin sharply. He ignored her. âWould he be a useful canary?â
There was a long pause from Tom. âFrom what I've seen, yes. Been talking to higher ups. Heard he had private meetings with the big guy.â
Devin shot Selise an equally sharp look. âJust swept up in it, huh?â He sighed and pressed the button on the communicator again. âOkay. We're going to pull him out discreetly. Let me know if he has a tail, otherwise stand by.â
âRoger.â
The office fell silent again until Selise and Devin's gaze met across the desk. âI can control my men, but I do not have authority over the entire organization. I suggest you make contingency plans if my betters catch wind of this.â
Selise ran her tongue along the inside of her teeth. She had pushed him far enough for one day. A small nod came in response. âIf you don't want to make a scene, it would be best to give me details. He's a bit skittish.â
âWe'll be in touch,â he leaned back in his chair and motioned towards the door. âMy people will see you out.â
Selise inclined her head and then got to her feet. âAlways a pleasure, Director.â When she opened the door, her same escorts fell into step with her until she left the command center grounds.
