It would not be at all unfair to say that I’ve neglected this blog over the past year. Whilst I could give a number of reasons for this, such as changes in professional and personal circumstances, I’d say the largest has been my attitude to the content that I’ve allowed myself to post.
When I started alliseeiscolour, it was all about investing in new equipment (DSLR, filters, tripod, etc), learning how to use it, and tracking my development. As such, I’ve left this space reserved purely for images capture from my DSLR in manual mode, post processed through GIMP on the mac.
It’s this approach that I feel I need to shake up a little. Whilst I love the level of control my DSLR gives me, it’s not something that I frequently carry. For instance, when I travel on a luggage allowance, or head to the countryside for a hike with friends, I often find myself leaving it at home. Purely because, if I’m not heading out to solely shoot imagery, it’s big, it’s bulky, it’s an inconvenience.
In sharp contrast to this, however, is my phone; this I have with me always. What is testament to this, is the library of photos that I have on there, from adventures both domestic and overseas, that, whilst I’m proud of, I’ve simply not shared here because of their origin. Add into the mix the myriad of photo editing applications that are available on operating systems other than MacOS, and it becomes apparent just how much I’ve been limiting this page.
Anyway, as you may have gathered from my ramblings, I’m going to attempt a change in approach, in order to breathe new life into this project. I’ll continue to focus on composure and post-processing, but I’m not going to limit myself to the aforementioned platforms.
