How to Lift a bag? Ive been meaning to for a while now. i just dont know how

This has worked for me at three different stores: Target, H&m, and Francesca’s. I have been in a few different Francesca’s and the store sizes vary from teeny tiny, to very large. I don’t recommend doing this in a small Francesca’s!!!!! Please don’t!!!

Things to remember: 1) I usually pick out a purse that is the only one left. (It would be easier to spot someone lifting a purse when there’s also 10 other duplicates of as opposed to lifting the very last purse. I hope this makes sense)

2) I bring a Victoria’s Secret bag and put everything that I would keep in my purse in the VS bag. So chapsticks, mascara, a bottle of water, tampons, little bottles of hand lotions, bracelets, kleenexes, granola bars, a small bottle of ibuprofen, my wallet, headphones, and anything that looks like trash. (If you say you don’t have wrappers, receipts or random papers in your purse you’re lying)

3) I bring lots of other shopping bags too and also a jacket.

Holding your shopping bags in one hand and having your jacket on the opposite arm, grab your purse of choice. At your blind spot put the bag on the crook of your arm. Put your jacket back over the arm kind of covering the purse (but it’s not a huge deal if people see the bag, you just want to make it look the same as how you walked in the store) Move the other bags up to purse and jacket arm. Pick out some things to try on in the dressing room. Detag if needed, (The stores I’ve done this with haven’t tagged their bags but you will always want to double check) and then put all your little items (#2 from above) in the purse. If someone or LP thinks you’re sus and ask to search the purse they think you stole, you’ll have a bunch of shit in it already from home so it will look like just your regular purse. Make sure you have bras or panties or some shirts in the VS shopping bag after you took out other stuff to put in the purse you’re lifting.

Someone told me that this was too much to do and too extreme for just lifting a bag but one of my friends also got caught lifting a purse when they asked to search her and the purse was empty it was kind of a dead giveaway. This has always worked for me. What works for someone might not work for the next person but I hope this helps you!

I have a post on the pamphlet method that I posted pretty recently. I actually came up with it my self! Basically you get a pamphlet that they usually have In Most stores have them either on a new line of products or a store credit cards. This can also work with magazine! So basically you just walk around with the pamphlet open like you’re reading it and pick up the item you want (better for thinner items) and put it on the pamphlet and just close it! You don’t even have to conceal it but it won’t look strange if you just pop it in your bag!

i do this but i use it with the pick up two item method, make up is a fave especially thin things. i pick up two slide one behind the leaflet then read the box and all that shit and decide i “don’t want” it and put it back while i conceal the other 💫

ok so alottttt of you ask how I do my “scarf trick” and it’s so hard to explain unless I actually show you.. so here we are

straight forward af, first

tuck the scarf under your arm your holding your bag so it completely covers your bag

select two of the same item (not as obviously as I did in the video clearly)

put them both behind your phone, pass one to your hand sort of through your scarf and slide it in your bag

pretend to read the other item decide you “don’t want it” and put it back which is literally all that looks like on camera and they can’t see you conceal behind the scarf I think it’s pretty fool proof I don’t go lifting without wearing one!

Hopefully y’all are watching for this stuff, never lift in front of another person. If someone is sitting in front of the dressing room “nonchalantly”, see if they look a you, and if they do, are they looking at what you’re carrying? (This happened before, she looked like a normal customer with bags and everything, the LP was tryna stop some other girl and I easily heard her talk on her phone, which was a stupid move on her part cause it made it obvious she didn’t suspect me). Is a customer conveniently wherever you are and you see them repeatedly?If so, try losing them and then see if they are looking for you, darting between aisles quickly, etc. I always watch for the “sticking around the aisle you’re in” trick, like if someone looks like they are not really processing what they are looking at, but they just wanna be near you. If you move, they follow closely behind and then stare at some other random aisle nearby. Honestly, the best way to “test” LP is to try to lose them, they’ll try to follow you. Another way is to stand in line and see if they line up too, and then get out of line quickly and walk away. In that situation, they either will need to follow you out of line or call back-up, but they want to make apprehensions so they’ll most likely personally follow you.

People that use magnets have purchased them from AliExpress, Ebay, & Amazon. The most popular one is the N52 neodymium magnet.

Many stores have magnet detectors!!!

Checks for tags EVERYWHERE. Some are hidden in seams of clothing! Some are hidden underneath bar codes! 

Unless you’re a pro, avoid these stores: WalMart, K-Mart, Kohls, JC Penny, Target, Macy’s, Dillards, Belks, Neiman Marcus, & other department stores.

NEVER shoplift at church sales, thift stores (except Salvation Army lmao), & yard sales. NEVER rob people.

First Week As LP

The things I’ve learned. Too fucking extensive guys. LP is a whole new WORLD.

Let me share with you some of the more lesser known things since taking this job.

1.) Companies ARE aware of the lifting side of the internet, they DO read our posts for clues.

2.) Lifters are usually on their game when they think they can identify LP. Those posts about like “you know it’s LP when ______such and such happens_____” they’re DEADON

3.) Know at Târget, cameras are always watched by one or two people and they communicate with at least one or two plainclothes by texting.

4.) SO, if you notice someone near you twice in a store and they are texting and not really shopping….BIG CLUE.

5.) LP make bets on how many lifters they can catch. It is a boring job, we mostly watch the cameras and find honest people.

6.) Catching a lifter gives us an adrenaline rush. It’s a cat and mouse game. Making yourself obvious only fuels us to hunt down others.

7.) Acting SUS will get our attention immediately. Distraction may work to divert our attention.

8.) BIGGEST RED FLAGS:

–> Drag queens, transvestites, people who seem like they are in wonky clothes or dressed beyond their gender. If you look weird, we will watch you whether or not we think you’re lifting. It’s simple human curiosity and entertainment.

–> Minorities. Especially minorities in large groups.

–> Large groups of pre teen girls

–> Anyone with a big bag

–> People with baby bags and strollers

–> People who wear beanies, hoods, hats, or other accessories making their face hard to see.

–> People who avoid sale sections

9.) Internal theft is investigated a lot more than shoplifters sometimes.

10.) It’s a lot harder for us to see you conceal when you’re walking in a straight line and using your hands discreetly. Walking will make us have to zoom and adjust to your movements, it’s a pain in the ass.

11.) We have to follow protocol to make a lawful stop. If we don’t see you conceal, but pick up on the other 3 warning signs, we can’t do shit.

100% new to lifting. Never done it before. Any/all advice would be sooooo helpful! Mostly wanting to get highend makeup (palettes, etc.)

Makeup is pretty difficult to lift Imo, due to the high security in the stores. But it has, and can, be done.

Please know that all my advice is for my area and jurisdiction.

Ok so for makeup you have pretty much two options if you live where I do. Ulta and Sephora. Ulta is so much easier than Sephora, I don’t even bother with Sephora. There’s lots of helpful posts for those! I won’t try to help with Sephora, like I said I don’t bother and I’m no expert on it. But I’ll try to put it all concisely here for you,

Ulta:

Try to find a store that’s untagged. Some Ultas use soft rfid tags on their palletes/ expensive items. They can be peeled off but that’s super sus.

When you walk it, try to scope out the cameras. Don’t look directly at them, and if you need to move your head up, pretend to look at a distant display. There’s usually come cameras EVERYWHERE, but there are a few blind spots. They depend on the store.

Blind spots are areas where cameras can’t see you. For my store the only blind spot in the little area between the low end haircare aisle and the next. Only conceal in these areas!! Don’t conceal on camera!! Ever. If there are no blind spots, you can make one by facing the opposite way of the camera, or standing behind a partner. This is easier in winter with lots of coats and stuff to cover your hands.

How I do it:

Wear something fashionable. Do your makeup well. This is the time to break out your brand named items… Look expensive. Look like you can by that whole store out if you wanted to.

Bring a big bag, one that has structure so SAs can’t tell if it’s full or not. Lots of lifters like the Michael Kors Jet Set or Selma tote. I use a jet set with “MK” printed all over it… Ugly as sin but gets the point across that I paid an insane amount of money for it (but I didn’t lol).

Walk in, if you’re greeted, say hello and smile back. They’re less sus if you are nice.

Grab an Ulta shopping bag. They’re grey and you can see through them. Place it in the crook of your elbow. Leave your purse up by your shoulder until you can get to a blind spot… SAs look for purses in the elbow and will follow you.

Test stuff! Look like you’re shopping, because you are, you’re just not paying for anything. Don’t just walk in and walk out.

Put some stuff in your Ulta bag. Grab some things you want, and some you don’t. You want to fill it up with items so that if you take some items out, it won’t be as noticeable on camera.

Find your blind spot and move your purse to the crook of your elbow. conceal. Do this quickly, don’t linger in the blind spot. LP, if they’re watching, do look for people that are in blind spots too much and send an SA or a manager.

Leave! The stuff that’s in your Ulta bag that you don’t want, put it back. It looks like you just changed your mind.

How you know you need to bail:

Ulta does watch their cameras, and if you’re sus, you’ll get customer serviced to death. This includes: employees asking if you want a bag, complimenting you to let you know they’re watching you (omg I love your bag!), if you hear some suspicious stuff going on on the intercom (they usually alert their managers to come to the front either on intercom, but some stores have headpieces!).

Ulta has a no chance policy but they will take down your license plate # if they see it. Park far away.

If another customer sees you conceal. People love to tattle.

That’s it! I can take so much stuff this way. Just don’t look around suspiciously, keep your head forward. Walk slowly but with intention, you know where you’re going.

Some tips:

I always say this but DO NOT MAKE A BOOSTER BAG! If you’re caught with one you can be fined/arrested ON THE SPOT even if you lifted nothing.

If you test stuff on your skin (swatches), ask an employee for some makeup remover. It makes it obvious that you tested their products, that you’re not afraid of the employees, and that you know your shit. If they act pissy, fuck them, who wants all that shit on their hands anyway?

If you have a bad feeling, ditch and go. It’s normal to feel nervous but my gut has been correct so many times in the past, that I just listen to it a lot now. Do not try to do anything if you think that your safety has been compromised.

The fool-proof way to scope out a store

Okay so this is how you can scope out a store without looking sus at all!

1. Get a bottle (just plain water or something) 2. Go into the store 3. Tilt the bottle (and your head) upward to drink. Ta-da! Now you can look up at the ceiling for cameras, without anyone thinking it’s sus. Just make sure to not have your head tilted upward for too long at a time. Also drink slowly so the bottle doesn’t become empty too fast.

Here are a few more tricks I use

Look the store up in Google maps, go to the photos section. A lot of places will have photos/videos with a view of the cameras

Go to the store outside of business hours, when no one is inside. Come up to the window and look for cameras

When first entering a store, hold your head up to take in the entire ceiling. This doesn't look suspicious if you pull off the 'wow what a beautiful place' vibe

Go up to a mirror and get really close to it. Pretend you're fiddling with your hair/makeup. You now have a full view of the entire store behind you, with no one able to see what you're looking at

I took an ordinary, unassuming starbucks cup, washed it out, cut slits in the bottom, and lined it with foam so I can just slip stuff like makeup and panties in there.
