what are your favourite things to lift in the uk without using magnets/detachers and where from? I'm talking clothes, makeup, perfume, books, ANYTHING .... I'm visitinf the uk soon and i don't feel comfortable using magnets or anything bc I'm over 18 so this info would really help! thx xx
for books, waterstones would be the easiest major one - never in my experience have they tagged with rfids and there’s always a few blindspots in stores (plus they do cute totes you could lift). there’s also the works which ive never seen have camera but books there seem to be more outdated and its never worth it imo
clothes - m&s only has rfids in their price labels and new look does cute clothes (it can be a bit hit and miss, some shops tag and others don’t). debenhams has concessions and some like warehouse and levis tag and others dont (plus, they do ted baker stuff like bras/sleepwear which ive never seen tagged). john lewis is also hit and miss tagging, i think it depends on the concession but they take stuff off and count so you’d have to conceal on the floor - john lewis is also where i got my ted baker purse so if you want a higher end purse you could get them since they tag some and leave others
for perfume i’ve only ever lifted from debenhams, they have a cellophane wrapper on which has an rfid so just take that off in the changing rooms and put it in a pocket. i tried from boots but the perfume was on offer and a woman came up to me offering a free tote so got sketched and left (also, high end perfumes are mostly kept behind glass to prevent theft)
makeup - you can get stila from m&s which i know some people lovvee and you can also get it from boots (ive always found boots has a larger selection). m&s also do their rosie collection which is where i get my fave lipstick from. boots does a lot of higher end makeup and if tagged, its only a soft tag which you can peel off easily. they also do lower end makeup if thats more your thing! if you go to superdrug (more lower end than boots), they tag ALOT more stuff which freaks me out a bit tbh.
lift of blind spots based on stores -
m&s - lingerie/sleepwear department. ive found most SA dont care at fitting rooms but dont take this as gospel
new look - if its a smaller store, fitting rooms are less likely to be monitored so its easy to conceal whatever you want. if its larger and has multiple floors, go to the floor with shoes/mens/kids and use those fitting rooms - they’re less likely to have a SA counting. sometimes they do count, other times they don’t
debenhams - lingerie has few cameras and the fitting rooms there dont usually have a SA
john lewis - i normally conceal on the floor. homewear is goldmine for blind spots - hardly any (if any) cameras, and some parts of womens fashion dont have cameras
waterstones - there’ll be some around the staircase if its multiple floors, and check the kids section for them!
boots - seasonal section and use the white pillars around the store as a blindspot
superdrug - ive only ever found one in the deodorant aisle
if you need anything else please let me know and be careful, i feel like its so much more risky visiting a country and lifting than living there xx
