love will have its sacrifices ►
“Not my fault,” he mumbled, knowing it was entirely his fault, but her being there wasn’t his fault. Besides, it would have only been a matter of time before she would have figured out who he was anyway, there was no use in prolonging the entire thing. Finn was a vampire, she was the slayer and that’s just how the world was working out for them. “But I am sorry, okay? I didn’t mean for you to find out this way.”
Which basically meant he never had any idea of how to tell her, but whatever, he’d pretend he had it all figured out somehow.
He shifted his weight back and forth from foot to foot, she was making him nervous, but not the kind of nervous that came from thinking he was going to die, he knew better than that, but it was a different kind of nervous that made him upset that he didn’t have the right things to say or do in this situation since it had all just happened so out of nowhere for him.
“I think you’re lying,” Finn shrugged.
So what if he was bluffing a little bit? She might go along with it, at least a little bit, because she might be lying, who knew.
“I think you want a lot of things to do with me, you’re just scared of who I am. If you were going to kill me, you’d have done it by now, Kitty.”
Finn narrowed his gaze on her and smiled to himself, “What’s the harm in getting to know each other?”
He apologized, but Kitty knew better than that. It was funny what lengths men would go to to try to convince women that they weren’t who they really were. It didn’t change from men who cheat or flirt with other women to men who were...undead. Fangs didn’t take way any underlying jerk.
During her initial training she took to the books to learn anything about vampires that she could. If she was going to be battling them then she wanted to know exactly who she would be going up against. However, it was through that that she learned the mannerisms that came with it -- and she knew that shifting wasn’t part of it. Hell, they didn’t even need to breathe! She’d store that away for later use.
“There’s plenty of harm. You know...the whole thing about how you want to go all toothy up on this fresh piece of meat.”
She gestured down to herself and then crossed her arms back over her chest.
“What’s up with that, by the way? Aren’t you supposed to be trying to kill me for your Fang Gang?”
Kitty stepped a little closer to him and tilted her head, trying to see underneath eyes that held things really only skin deep. Her voice lowered and she narrowed her eyes, “What do you want to know about me that you don’t already know?”
