Honey, I think I broke the doctor
Today I got to experience my first case of confusion from a medical professional over my name and gender in comparison to my medical requirements. I am a trans man that has only socially transitioned so far (I have not undergone anyĀ ātreatmentsā including HRT). I am also terribleĀ at making decisions. I needed to getĀ āthe morning after pillā from the pharmacist and in doing so has managed to put today on the list for one of the most amusing medical visits Iāve had.Ā As the pharmacy was required to ensure that all the necessaryĀ information was known by me prior to taking the medication I had to wait for a face to face meeting. I had a brief discussion with the pharmacist consultant before she filled out the required form. The first question was about my name. As I said it wasĀ āMichaelā I could almost see the cogs of confusion turning, she seemed to be struggling to know how to respond. I almost felt bad as I imagine itās not all that often a young man comes in asking for the morning after pill.Ā I would also like to note that I have suspicions that I had an allergic reaction to the pill.Ā
