Looks like two heavy bamboo machine guns, probably more. I need to get a better look. - Sledge, Leyden.

Korean war memorial
The Korean War (25 June 1950 – 27 July 1953) was an armed conflict on the Korean Peninsula fought between North Korea (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea; DPRK) and South Korea (Republic of Korea; ROK) and their allies. North Korea was supported by China and the Soviet Union, while South Korea was supported by the United Nations Command (UNC) led by the United States. The conflict was one of the first major proxy wars of the Cold War. Fighting ended in 1953 with an armistice but no peace treaty, leading to the ongoing Korean conflict.

On June 12, 1944, members of the 101st Airborne Division walk through the streets of Carentan. Securing Carentan allowed American forces on Omaha and Utah Beaches to link up.

Today is D-Day +81 years. For some people, that’s a lifetime come and gone. For others, it’s a moment in history that we read about in books, and watch in films. For all of us, it’s a day that we stop and remember the ultimate sacrifices made by the men and women of our armed forces as they fought for freedom. It’s our job now, to keep their memories and their names, alive. To remind the world what they fought for, and that they did not die in vain.
Lest we forget.

Recovered in June 1944 from the port of Bastia, the wreck of a half-destroyed Fiat RS 14 seaplane illustrates the chaos into which the armistice plunged Italy after September 18, 1943.
