Took a break from Wormmon to work on the cape so I can get ready to start on the armor.

That is one of the skirt panels for Belle’s dress with the top folded in to make it narrower.

I stitched the pieces together in the back and hemmed the top edge, then put gathering stitches in the shoulder area. Then I took bright yellow quilts binding and pinned it around the edges.

Once the binding is stitched down, the only thing left for this piece is the collar and shoulder armor.

Finished Wormmon’s head today.

Two 11 1/2 inch lengths of craft wire. 4 metal washers. Two 9 inch fabric triangles. I wrapped one end of the wire around the washers for some weight.

I stuck the fabric wrapped wire through slits in the top of the head and stitched it in place, looping thread through the washers to keep them anchored.

His mandibles were made the same way as the head, but stitched closed in the back.

Mandibles stitched to the front of his head and some back stitching added for detail.

Decided to work on Wormmon a little today.

The pieces for the head and tail sections along with the snout half of a resized dragon head pattern. I’ll cut the black band for the tail at some later point.

I sewed one of the stacks together and partially stuffed it so I could place the embroidered eyes and forehead marking.

My bobbin of 960 was very luckily a close enough shade of green to stitch the forehead mark in place. The eyes were attached with 310.

The next step will be to remove some of the stuffing so that I can get the antennae figured out.

I also have the weird gray thing on the front done and stitched down on one half of the front. I’m probably going to put snaps on the other side to secure it over the zipper.

The show will go on...

I found out that the convention was canceled, but that only removes the deadline for completing my costumes. I’m going to continue to work on them, because I have to believe that there will be other conventions in the future.

I have the sleeves completed for the Kaiser, but I have not attached them to the bodysuit yet. I have the craft foam cut for the belt. I have the pant legs ready to be put together. I have the materials for the cape and for Wormmon. The only thing I would conceivably have to leave my apartment for is another bag of poly fill to stuff Wormmon with.

I have pieces cut for another costume, one that goes with one I completed prior to FanX 2018 that I will be sharing pictures of at some point.

I’ll also be sharing my photos of Elsa at some point.

I decided to spend the day getting my digivice painted, mostly to take a break from the sewing machine and partly because I wanted to watch Disney+ while I worked.

This is what I had a week ago.

Still need to touch up a couple spots, clean up a couple others and attach a clip to the back, but all in all, I feel like it turned out pretty good.

Got quite a bit of work done on the bodysuit.

Pattern is Yaya Han’s ultimate bodysuit, though I did have to alter the center front, sleeves and pant legs. Photos of those sections coming soon.

Will you ever call me Digimon Kaiser?

Yep. That’s the first of my convention series. Couple of firsts on this one. First attempt at embroidery...

First time playing with a 3D printer...

First time making a plushie that isn’t a dragon, though I am modifying pieces of the dragon for Wormmon’s head, tail and legs. No pictures of that yet, but he’s going to be my purse. So I guess this will also be the first time I’ve made a purse out of a plushie.

Underskirt made of cotton. I recall that the pattern said something about a single lined underskirt, but I kept the skirts separate to make two unlined underskirts instead and hemmed them with lace (not pictured).

I’ll try to get the overskirt and skirt drape up next, but I’ve got the pieces cut for my first cosplay for Anime Oasis, so the two photo sets may overlap.

Rebrand

I realize that it’s been quite a while since I’ve done anything on any of my blogs, and I sincerely apologize for that. I’ve been thinking for a while about rebranding, and decided it was time, so I’ve changed the name of this blog to reflect a pattern that I’ve noticed in my portfolio.

Seeing as how we’re hovering around convention season, I’ve got some new costumes in the works for AnimeOasis 2020 that I can’t wait to share.

I’ve also got Belle finished, along with Elsa’s ice dress, so I’ll have some of those photos up soon.

Apologies for lack of updates on Belle’s dress. I haven’t been able to do much with it, as my sewing machine jammed. The minimum quote I was given was roughly equal to the cost of the machine, and so I decided it would be cheaper to replace it. I found one for a very good price on letgo, and will be picking it up on Thursday, so I should have pictures of the skirt construction on Friday.

Got the bodice drape done tonight. First deviation from the pattern directions, unless you count using satin instead of embellished organza...

Directions say to make a fabric rose to put in the center there, and at intervals along the skirt drape. I’ve seen this movie several times, and there are no roses on that dress. There are little round things that could be beads, so I put beads there.

I didn’t get as much done today as I’d hoped, but I did manage to recover all my photos from my old phone, so those will be coming soon.

I did get all the interfacing done on the bodice, yoke and waistband, and I got the outer layer of the bodice stitched together. The lining for it is pinned and I’m hoping to get the stitching done within the next day or two. Pictures will come soon.
