While three seems to have been a common number this laying season, the size of a clutch can vary. Some clutches consist of but a single egg, while the largest number we have recorded is five. The specifics of the egg-laying process are unknown.

with the whole hist aspect and ceremonies surrounding mating hinted at in the Murkmire dlc of eso, i just started assuming argonians mate like fish (dumping genetic material) and that like, the large eggs baby(?) argonians emerge from are just like, not developed inside any argonian body. Just a slurry of hist and biomaterial all out in the open at the bottom of a hist tree, and you wait for that to produce magic tree-reptile-eldritch-abomination new members of the species.

While I cannot verify the specifics of the process (as we don’t have the specifics), I don’t believe this is correct. Argonians possess what they refer to as a “thtithatei”, or “egg-stomach”. If I had to guess, the eggs appear to be designed to compress, and most likely grow to some degree after being laid (as many real eggs do).
