The Beiger Mansion, Mishawaka's premiere event facility and bed and breakfast.
Here’s the link to the Beiger Mansion website. Currently it is run as a special events facility and also a bed and breakfast. The website also has a very detailed history page if you’re interested.
This video offers a brief history of this 110 year old home. It was created by the current owner of the Mansion, Ron Montandon.
The Beiger Mansion
So I guess the smart way to start this blog is first just saying what the Beiger Mansion is. It’s a piece of Mishawaka, Indiana history. It was built by Martin Beiger, who built Mishawaka’s largest factory, Ball Band, later Uniroyal. Many of the people that live here today came because there was work at Ball Band. The Mansion was the home that he built for his family. The home has 22000 sq. ft. of floor space. Originally built in 1903 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It was burned to the ground in an unsolved arson case in 1975. Since then we’ve been picking up the pieces and restoring the building, a labor of over 25 years, for the current owners. As an employee of the Mansion, I feel that its history is interwoven with the history of our beautiful city and that this history should be shared. This blog is one way I’m trying to spread it
