Alright, them together. Hear me out...

So , Jane and Louisa are obviously friends. When Jane introduces Louisa, she refers to her as her friend from concord, which is a city about an hour away irl from Amherst. At the Christmas party, I noticed that Jane tries to show little interest in Louisa when introducing her, despite Louisa’s excitement to be there. Jane tries to play it off, like she could care less about Louisa being there but it got me thinking... What if jane was upset at louisa for some reason? Like maybe she is mad she was gone for so long, or she missed her? Or maybe she’s trying to distance herself from Louisa bc she knows she’s now engaged?

Now ofc, it could just be me reaching for f/f relationships but it makes sense to me. Let me proceed with my reasoning. ‬At the party, Jane looks happy to have introduced her friend to Emily. But I noticed that her face changes whenever Louisa asks Emily on a run, meaning they get to be alone together. Which could potentially make Jane jealous. Louisa also constantly keeps trying to impress everyone with the money she is making, ofc bc she’s poor, but it could also be to get on Jane’s nerves. And to make herself seem impressive to Emily.

Then at the dinner table, they don’t sit together. Jane is about to announce her engagement, which it seems like Louisa already knows about. She shows little interest and instead tries to focus on her book idea. While jane trying to steal the spotlight, doesn’t sounds super thrilled about her engagement or moving to southwick (which is a whole other hour from Amherst in the opposite direction). She even tries to bog down Louisa’s book idea but she just ignores her. And then after that they kind of disappear. ‬

All of this got me think big of potential backstory for their characters and their relationship. Honestly, it makes sense to me why Jane of all people confronts Austin about Emily and Sue’s relationship. She knows they’re in love, and what if she knew what that was like herself? This could also explain one of the reasons Louisa doesn’t have interest in getting married. And why Jane, tries so hard to be against emily all the time, and constantly calls her a freak. Because secretly she wishes she could have what Emily and Sue have...

Anyways, I might write it in a fic maybe mix it in with some emisue, unless anyone wants to read it standalone. But yeah, please tell me what you think bc i can’t stop thinking about them potentially being together!

Can we please talk about the scene when Sue left and helped take care of that guys children? Do we think Alena is going to address this?
