I have a lot of feelings about Zanjeerain, and I feel that this might be the safe space to actually let out. Because it's impossible to criticize Zanjeerain on Twitter or Instagram without being insulted.
As a lot of you, I started watching it because I saw the Sarbiya hype on my timeline. However, I did not feel the chemistry that everyone was talking about. Even after the 31st episode, I do not see it. (Please don't kill me). The ship seems kind of rushed, and I do not agree with the way the marriage of convenience took place for them. For me, if an MOC had to take place, it should have been after the jungle track because Zafran's people saw them. After getting married, both of them would have solved the mystery around their partner's death, Sherdil and his wife's death, etc. Then they would have enough episodes to grieve (especially Sarbuland) and then move on, fall in love, have angst, etc. However, now they just feel forced for me. (Again, please don't kill me.)
Farhat Ishtiaq messed up with Bano's death track. Sarbuland and Bano were written and portrayed as childhood sweethearts and even soulmates. (He called her his rooh ke saathi, felt her pain when she died, and they felt each other's presence.) He DOES not believe that she died, yet he is not doing ANYTHING to find her. He saw her dupatta with red stains, but he did not react. Yes, he went to find Bano and then found Rabiya. But he still did make any efforts. After seeing that dupatta, he should have assumed the worst. (She could be in danger, injured, or kidnapped.) Yet NO REACTION or efforts. He was not even able to solve who was responsible for Sherdil's poisoning or his murder.
Rabiya went from an independent, fearless woman to someone who cannot take a stand for herself. She could have run away or had some type of say in this whole fiasco. Now her only project is to spy on Shireen.
Some of the best actors in PTV got wasted in this drama. First of all, Adnan Siddiqui is so good at playing negative characters, yet he was just wasted in this drama. Also, I was so excited to see Usman Javed again. He was excellent in Tan Man Neel. However, he also does not have that big of a role. In the first episodes of the show, he was genuinely scary, but then he became just dumb. I don't know why, but I feel that he will get a redemption arc, or Rabiya will actually forgive him after learning about his childhood. I really hope I am wrong.Samiya Mumtaz is ont of the best actresses, and her only job in this show is to be ill or fall.
The first 17 episodes of this show were amazing, and I still mourn what could have been an actual great show. I am hoping to be proven wrong, but the show still has about 6-7 episodes, and nothing makes sense.
