Today is World Mental Health Day and this is my first time knowing I deal with it. This is my first time sharing but I think it is important for others to hear.
Those closest to me know that the beginning of this year I was probably at my lowest ever. I felt lost, alone, didn’t know how to love myself, and just felt everything was moving on without me. The constant wondering why and what was something I went through. Constantly overthinking and analyzing each single thing.
If something was planned or I had an idea in mind and it didn’t go as planned, I would shut down completely. I would get frustrated and it would so call “ruin my day”.
Talking to my mom, I finally decided to go to counseling. I never thought it would be something I would need because we would toss it up from time to time maybe once a year if that. But however, this was beyond anything I’ve ever felt.
I deleted social media apps off my phone to calm myself down and mainly to focus on myself. I tried painting and other things to keep my mind busy. As the second and third time I went to see my counselor, she was able to figure out I deal with Anxiety & Social Anxiety.
Now I’m sharing my story because so many deal with this and some won’t treat it. I was never the one who cared to go talk to a stranger because I hate crying in front of people, let alone those I don’t know.
But I want y’all to know I’m so glad I took that step to better my mental health. In order to move forward and become a better version of yourself, you need to do things out of your comfort. You need to take care of yourself in every form.
Just please know there is nothing “wrong with you”. There are friends and family to speak too who will understand you. You are LOVED. You are WORTHY. And most importantly you are ENOUGH.
I’m beyond grateful for my father above and of course my family who have been through this with me from day one. The beginning wasn’t easy at all and it took time, but I’m so thankful and blessed. ❤️🙏🏻
