“I-I’m sorry…”

She realized that he knew nothing about her. About why she wanted so much to keep all things related to her memories, about why she desperately needed some proof that she ever existed, about her remaining time which less than two weeks.

She shouldn’t have been acting like that. Exhaled a small sigh, she behaved herself back. I shouldn’t requested something that would bother him. She thought so.

She turned her head when he asked about computer and lobby. Come to think of it, she hadn’t been paid much attention towards the surroundings of lobby. She always went straight to her room and start charging.

“If I’m not mistaken, I heard that there’s any, please follow me.”

Oh no, looking at that dejected expression Leonardo was only all too convinced that she hated him now. That hadn’t at all been his intention with his blunt words and he was really regretting not stopping to think before he spoke. He just couldn’t do anything right, could he? A slightly saddened expression appeared on his face as he just followed her in awkward silence.

But fortunately his small suggestion wasn’t shot down negatively, Squinted eyes peeking up a bit at the white haired frame in front of him, Leo felt a rush of heat to his cheeks caused by a feeling of happiness sneaking in. So he hadn’t completely screwed up the situation then, after all, huh?

“That would be great! I can hook up the camera and print the picture right there and then, although it would definitely be quicker to have it printed professionally... But if you’re okay with someone like me doing it then I can...”

Somehow, seeing him acted like that made her think that it would be really dangerous. But, he said every once in a while, means that he ever tasted it, right? This makes Isla become somehow, curious of the taste.

After all her curiosity was the one leaded her to hold a glass of liquor before.

“How does it taste like?” It it tasted really bad, chances of her avoiding it might rise. 

How was he in any position to be telling his junior about these kind of things?! He was rarely ever even drinking himself and if he did it was in very trace amounts! She should probably be hearing this all from a person who actually knew what they were talking about.

“Uhm... Well... That is...” Good going Leo, if you become any more awkward you might become -- who is even more awkward than you? “Just don’t drink it until you get older okay?!”

Cole couldn’t help but smile as the man took the child and the boy instantly attacked the goggles. Anything that caught his attention was for him to grab it seemed and Cole was completely happy with that. Actually, more than happy now that he got his hands on them. Cole was just waiting for him to try and put them in his mouth or lick them.

“You’re doing fine. Careful though he is biting now even if he doesn’t have all of his teeth yet.” He could make a decent imprint if he wanted to though it didn’t seem he could draw blood yet. His favorite thing to chew on was his own feet at the moment. “So how old are you? What’s your name?” Had he given his own? He didn’t think so. “I’m Cole and the baby is Caleb.”

Fighting a bit for his goggles but eventually having to give up and leave them at the mercy of the child, Leo’s attention diverted between the two. It would be a lie to say that he wasn’t afraid to drop the small figure. He wasn’t exactly known for his strength and who know, maybe all it took was a moment of unawareness and lack of balance. He wasn’t sure he was feeling comfortable with such a huge trust being placed upon him.

“Haha, biting, that’s funny,” he commented with a laughter, but then the words really registered. “What?! He bites too?!” What kind of monster was it that he had accepted here?! Suddenly he wasn’t so sure about this whole endeavour and whether it was a good idea. He didn’t want any creature to take a bite of him, not even if that creature was a human baby. He wanted to give the boy back, but alas, his small fingers were already far too entangled in his goggles. “I’m... Leo. Leonardo Watch. It’s, uh, nice to meet you?“

Cole arched a single brow, confused as to if something was actually wrong or if the man was pretending nothing was. It was hard to tell with some people but it was best to not push someone who he had no real inclination of who they were. The city was fairly large and everywhere Cole turned he was meeting someone knew though his roommate still had yet to show themselves. Hopefully they wouldn’t mind him practically running the apartment.

Again, Cole pulled Caleb back into his arms and in turn the boy screamed and tried to again get to the strangers eye wear. “He’ll be fine, you can hold him if you want?” A few seconds would be alright, Cole could chase the man down if he had to.

“E-eh?! Hold him?!” Was this really how you usually went about it? Leo himself hadn’t even considered having children of his own any time soon if at all, so all of this was foreign land to him. Heck, he didn’t even have a lover. Wasn’t there some kind of order you had to do this in? Someone like him couldn’t just walk around picking up other people’s toddlers!

... So how come he foud himself accepting? The boy was surprisingly heavy to the brunette’s small frame, and for the first time he gave a passing thought towards how hardcore this stranger actually was. Looking at him he couldn’t be much older than Leonardo himself, and he was already this far into his life? “Uh, what do I do now? -- Ah! No, don’t grab those!” With hands now full of child he had no way of stopping the boy from taking hold of the goggles on his face.

“Are you alright mister?” He had strange goggles on, something that Caleb seemed particularly fond of and wanted to play with. Was the man allergic to the sun or perhaps blind? They would find out eventually if Cole’s son got his hand on those shiny reflective goggles of the strangers. The boy certainly was trying, nearly tumbling out of Cole’s arms in the process.

It wasn’t that he didn’t like children or anything. He had grown up as an elder brother although it had been an awful long time since Michella had been as young as the toddler in this man’s arms seemed to be, and Leonardo couldn’t really remember that far back. He however wasn’t entirely sure of what to think of handing over his goggles to the tiny human. While they had no actual function, he always wore them and they did kind of help covering his eyes when he needed it.

“No! Ah, I mean yes! There’s nothing wrong...! Uhm... Are you sure that’s gonna be alright?” he asked concerned, pointing towards the kid that was practically trying to escape what Leonardo presumed was his father’s grasp.

“That’s… scary…”

One moment she was hard to convince, later she was pretty easy. But what he said did make sense. After all, not only Kazuki who loves this somehow delicious liquor pretty much. Yasutaka always being scolded by Sherry, and somehow looked…no good as well?

She nodded in understanding of his lecture. Thankfully it did work, though not completely rid her curiosity off from her mind.

“So, that’s the reason why you never try it?”

Nodding very exaggeratedly for emphasis as the while haired girl could finally see his point, Leo was glad to have got through to her. He didn’t know what else he could do if she still hadn’t seen the wrongs of her way.

“Eh? Me?” He however hadn’t expected for the question to be turnt back his way. How was he supposed to look good to her now? He would feel bad about lying over a matter such as this after all. So hopefully he wasn’t being too much of a hypocrite.

“Well... Every once in a while when my colleagues go celebrate something... But it’s not a habit! And I don’t really like the taste either.”

She spoke nonchalantly, but didn’t make any effort to take it away from him. Isla didn’t felt wrong, she wasn’t drunk and she was completely okay, so why he looked so panic?

“I’m perfectly fine, as you can see. It’s not that dangerous at all.”

No, he couldn’t give into temptation. He had to act like a responsible adult here in order to lecture a junior in life.

“That’s not the point, Isla-san! You might end up liking it and then your life will only start going downhill as you become a hopeless drunk who spends all the time gambling and hitting on women! Uh... men?”

He had probably trailed off a bit there in the end, but honestly the person he was basing all his accusations off was exactly that kind of no-good person, so it was no wonder Leo worried for his new-found friend’s future.

“Eh?! Even you, miss Isla?!“ No really, how did people know? He was starting to get scared now, because if this rumour was running rampant then he really needed to do something about it. Certainly he wasn’t expecting this white haired girl to want them for her own sake, but other residents of Koi might not share the same sentiment. The worst thing he could imagine was if they fell into the hands of some evil person. No, as much of a pain as they were, it was also his duty to protect them.

“Say, miss Isla… How did you know about my eyes?“

“Worry not… I wouldn’t do anything…”

The twintailed blonde ghost whom she just befriend with, told a lot of things. About someone with blonde hair who had big round glasses, about a boy who had a pair of beautiful blue eyes, and about herself who’s a ghost.

She knew it might be something confidential. After all there’s no one who would reveal their special power to the other people, especially in this Koi City, which she still considered as remote place she had recently moved to.

“A ghost girl told things to me.”

A ghost, huh? Why did that make him think of one particular person? Nah, couldn’t possibly be. After all, he hadn’t told that person about everything that had happened yet. Maybe it was for his own convenience, that he could pretend that everything was normal -- that he was just your ordinary guy who had an ordinary girl for an ordinary friend.

That was also what he had hoped to achieve in this city. A life where he could live believing himself to be just your average guy.

“You’re probably wondering about a lot of things right now, huh...? Well, my eyes are like this because of... some circumstances. It probably wouldn’t be a very interesting story to you.“
