Science is magic in real life
I must swallow down the pain in my heart. There's nothing else I can do with it
— The Sleeper, Edgar Allan Poe
[text ID: At midnight, in the month of June, / I stand beneath the mystic moon.]
“Spend your free time the way you like, not the way you think you’re supposed to. Stay home on New Year’s Eve if that’s what makes you happy. Skip the committee meeting. Cross the street to avoid making aimless chitchat with random acquaintances. Read. Cook. Run. Write a story.”
— Susan Cain (via quotemadness)
"But hugging her was different, somehow. As if one wants to nestle in the heat. As if for a moment , one doesn't have to worry about anything or anyone."
Fake has become so acceptable that people get offended when you keep it real.
You have to remember that the people you’ve seen,
And the people they’ve shown you can be,
Are no more than figments of fleeting existence.
There are no meaningful moments,
No grand finales,
No last hurrahs.
Life is theater, and some are addicted to the spotlight.
gods i am so excited to buy my first little home and decorate it with thrifted furniture and antique mirrors and fresh flowers and paint the walls soft pastels or neutrals and invite my friends and family over for the first cooked meal and plant lavender and strawberries in the small garden in the back yard and cultivate an orchard full of apple and pear trees and pad through the hallways barefoot at dawn into the cosy kitchen to make a cup of tea with my black cat weaving through my legs affectionately.
one of my favorite things to do as a reader is go into goodreads after finishing a book and read five star and one star reviews and just have a good time over other people’s thoughts
idk but when i discover new books and music i’m just excited to be alive again. yes a bit dramatic but that’s how i feel when i discover them
“I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.”
— Oscar Wilde (via quotemadness)
But the truth is that everything is magical. The world around you, the wind and the rain, the lightening and thunder, your ability to sing and see colors.
Unicorns and dragons may not be real but have you ever observed a sea shell or a jelly fish and wondered how it would appear in a world where they aren't real? The aurora and flashes of lightening remain mystical as long as we don't understand them.
Maybe we humans are obsessed with the idea of the unknown, so we tell each other tales about mermaids deep in the oceans, fiery dragons and werewolves that howl at the moon
For the days you had too much and just want to sink in and relax
The best thing about falling in love is that it doesn’t always have to be with people. Let yourself fall for a color, a story, a moment, a dream or an art form. Shed light on the crafts that you hold close to your heart—the love for these things will help sustain you when heartbreak does come knocking.
