Far from the kingdom, across the deep waters of the sea, was the Island of the Bravehearted Giants. There in the warmth of the sun and the shade of the palm trees lived a handsome giant named, “Hunk.” Despite the fact he was respected for his sharp mind and cutting humor, it was something else that was most revered among the inhabitants: The HammerRam.
The women of the island (and many of the men too) would get up extra early to walk by his balcony, hoping to catch a view of The HammerRam.
Despite all of the things that Hunk had going for him, his heart was still sad. It was reported that years before, when he was a young man in his early 20′s, Hunk had been visited in his sleep by a wicked beldame. In her desire to steal his beauty and physical perfection, she had cast a spell on him. When he awoke, he felt a heavy weight bearing down on him and he had suddenly lost the ability to hear the music that once surrounded him wherever he went. He no longer felt bravehearted.
Hunk filled his days by wandering around the island and mopping kitchen floors. Lonely and aimless , he took out his frustrations with physical pursuits. The HammerRam became even more pronounced.
When visitors asked about the name of Hunk’s rotund hindquarters, the islanders explained that the name was given because Hunk was frequently seen using his thick thighs and buttocks to ram into punching bags and hammer vault onto stools.
One day, while walking the seashore, Hunk heard the faint sound of music in the distance. He had not heard music in many years and the thought that music might exist in another land quickened his pulse. He decided to risk everything and set off to find the source. He dressed….
…and dashed into the water for the long swim. As he drew closer to the shore, the sound of the music grew louder.
Before long, the kingdom came into view. When he managed to pull himself onto the shore, he realized there was a huge mountain that stood between him and the source of the notes. So he mustered all of his strength and began to climb. The HammerRam served him well.
When he grew tired, he refused to give up. He discovered he was indeed bravehearted.
After mastering the mountain, the music was even louder than ever before. Hunk broke out into a run through the streets of the village until he found the house from which the lovely refrains were streaming. He pushed open the doors….
And there at the piano was the most breathtaking sight he had ever seen. The Bravehearted Giant had found Tiny. Suddenly, the weight of the curse lifted and Hunk was free.
When Tiny saw Hunk standing at the door, he was speechless. Everything in his life finally made sense.
And for the love, for laughter, he flew up to his arms.
