Honestly, after this latest chapter, I kind of understand why Rumi hates her wings. They wee the most painful and troublesome part of her transformation and they get in the way so much that they are an extra reminder of her trauma. She feels about her wings the way some people feel about their boobs. "Yeah they are hot and cool sometimes and can be useful but they just get in the way and make my life difficult and/or give me dysmorphia." She seems to feel differently about her tail, though, which is so cute.

Oh yeah, Rumi's disgust of her wings absolutely stems from what happened during the transformation and what needed to be done immediately after. It was too damaging both physically and mentally to just, you know, not deal with that.

With everything else that kind of happened and the tail being relatively harmless and less likely to get in her way to remind her that she's changed, Rumi came to something of a steady "truce" with it.

Of course, having the girls around and gushing over these parts of her she's hated for a decade has allowed her to look at them through their eyes rather than just the memories she has to live with. Maybe she'd never get used to some of the things she truly loathes, but to be seen as a person and not feel like a monster is almost like a balm on her soul
