BIO

BIO Alexandra is a multidisciplinary artist focusing currently on sound and visual art. She studied Architecture and Urban planning in Romania. After finishing her studies and moving to Prague, she was hypnotized by the practice of live-coding sound and soon joined Kolektiv. With this international open group of artists working in the realm of algorithmic visuals and electronic music, she performed in various venues in the Czech Republic and abroad. 

As an architect and set designer, she looks for new ways of integrating space within a performance, with the aim of challenging audience expectations. When working with sound, she is interested in blending atmospheric sound design with rhythmic structures, finding her inspiration in the religious practices of her native country, contemporary parametric music and experimental sound design.

ROJ performing as part of the Lunchmeat festival openng Repetitive, post-dance, neospirutalism, virtual, autonomous data. Live a/v project by kof, alex, Mb and Joach.  ROJ‘s audiovisual performance is based on the group’s practice of using code in order to synthesize sound and image. The structure of the performance relies on improvisation, layering prepared definitions and autonomous visuals.

Kolektiv, live coding image and sound

Kolektiv is an international open group of artists working in the realm of algorithmic visuals and electronic music who follow in the tradition of live coding, an art form based on the artist writing a code for their performance in real time, creating instruments generating sound or image right in front of the audience. The occasional members of the group are Alexandra Timpau, Michal Cáb, Katarína Gatialová, GND, Alexandra Cihanska-Machova, Kryštof Pešek, Jáchym Pešek, Jiří Rouš, Georgij Bagdasarov, Sara Pinheiro, Petr Zábrodský, Matěj Šenkyřík, Jonáš Svatoš. However, with each performance the group's composition varies featuring between five up to twelve performers.
