In what, 3 hours?
She just got her back;
and now she lost her again
it’s the 21st day of the 21st year of the 21st century.
you can only reblog this today.
Sorta just sending this message-in-a-bottle out into the aether of the internet, since few if any of my regular followers play guild wars 2;
Does anyone know of any good reputable queer-friendly roleplay groups? Or better yet, RP guilds specifically made by and for queer people. I’ve come across a few RP guilds that say that they’re “LGBT Friendly!” but it just turns out that means they fetishize lesbians and trans women -_- ... I’m always scared to do in-depth RP cuz I’m afraid of finding out my RP partner is homo/transphobic, so most of my RP is casual stuff.
(Edit: okay to reblog/repost if you wanna help spread the word!)
gone and wrote this and i still like it after a couple days of letting it sit! read here if you are 18+ for a story where lappland gets the rocks in her brain removed and texas doesn't know how to cope
(requested by anonymous; explicitly NOT a continuation of previous Lappland posts)
“So…let me get this straight.” The Doctor, Lappland, and Texas were in his office, talking through a particularly complicated matter. “Lappland, you’re in love with Texas?”
“She’s mine if she’s anyone’s,” she replied, inching closer to her on the couch with every second.
He continued. “But Texas wants nothing to do with you.”
“If she tries touching me without my consent again,” she half-growled, “I’m punching her through the wall.”
“Oh, you sure know how to show a girl a good time,” Lappland cackled.
The Doctor sighed. “Did you have a falling out, or has it always been like this?”
“She used to be so much more fun!” Lappland lunged for Texas mid-sentence, which caused her to bolt off the couch. “We’d go out together, have drinks together, massacre the unruly together, make sweet love on her bed together-”
“That was one time, I was very drunk, and I stopped seeing you after that.”
She shrugged. “For a week, maybe.”
“Because you followed me like a lost puppy when I left Siracusa.” Texas sighed. “I want a restraining order.”
“Aww, but what about our kids, darling?”
The messenger’s sword flew to her hand. “I am seriously considering cutting your head off right now.”
“You think you can?” Lappland’s own blade did the same. “That’s more like it.”
“…Well, I guess there’s nothing for it.” The Doctor stood up and walked to stand between them.
Texas sheathed her weapon. “Sorry.”
“Don’t apologize yet.” He sighed. “I have a confession to make, and if this doesn’t go anywhere, that’s fine, but hear me out, both of you, okay?”
“Are you about to say you love Texas as much as I do? Because I would want an apology for that.” Her eyes narrowed even as her voice remained its usual manic tone.
The Doctor shrugged. “It’s a little more complicated than that.” As he said this, he turned towards Texas, hands at his side.
“Doctor,” she spoke up as he approached. “Whatever you’re about to do-”
“This will only take a second, I promise.” He stopped when he was within arm’s reach of her.
Lappland was rooted in place. “Doctor…Are you sure you want to do that?”
“Texas, have you ever loved Lappland, or at least thought romantically of her?”
“I…” She sighed, even as her confusion started to mount. “I did.”
“Do you ever have particularly lonely nights staring at the ceiling, wondering why it is that you don’t simply give in, pay the price of your mental stability with the feeling of her in your bed with you?”
Texas stared. “Maybe.”
“Then I know how you feel. Here’s what I’m proposing.” The Doctor set an arm on her shoulder and gestured to Lappland with an open palm. “We share her.”
“What.” They both looked at him, mystified.
He shrugged. “We both want her, she wants you, and if we can make her satisfied with a new normal, she won’t keep trying to turn you back into some older version of Texas she remembers from your time together before.”
“…I’ll admit, I’ve heard worse ideas from the others in Penguin.” Texas looked back at Lappland. “Well? Does that satisfy you?”
“Doctor, come here for a moment.”
The Doctor complied. “Yes, Lappland?”
“A little closer.” When he was within range, she took a single step forward and kissed him. “Mmm…You should have thought of this sooner.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t.”
Texas looked around the office somewhat awkwardly. “Do I wait, or-”
“Get over here.” Lappland waited for her to shuffle over before kissing her as well. “Now, you two.”
“…Eh?” They glanced at each other.
Their mutual lover shook her head. “Well?”
“I mean,” the Doctor replied, “I hadn’t really thought of it before.”
“The whole point was to make all three of us happy, though…”
“So if that’s what she wants-” “-I guess it couldn’t hurt.”
As their lips met, Lappland saw the spark go off between them and smiled. “And now you know why I chased her for so long, Doctor-”
“We should go somewhere else.” Texas gestured around them. “Something might break in here.”
“Good point. My room?”
She nodded. “That works. Lappy?”
“I haven’t heard that in a while.” Lappland shrugged. “Sure.”
“Alright, v-formation. Texas give me your left hand - in my left - Lappland your right. And three-”
They shared a glance. “Doctor, what are you doing?”
“Taking us there without having to let go of either of your hands.” He restarted the count. “3.”
“This is not how I thought my afternoon would go,” Texas observed.
“2.”
Lappland smirked. “Really? This was exactly what I imagined. Down to teleporting into his bed.”
“I like your imagination. 1.”

As per the new usual, the Doctor found herself waking up snug as a bug beneath two wonderfully-warm bodies. For all the outfits she’d burnt holes through, she would have expected Skyfire to be constantly setting the bed on fire, but apparently she’d had enough experience to control herself under those conditions. The Doctor and Angelina both were quite grateful for that.
Speaking of Angelina, she stirred as the Doctor began trying to untangle herself. “Mmm…I’ll start a pot in a minute.”
“Take your time,” the Doctor smiled, patting her on the back. “Amiya’s covering the office today, so we’re not gonna be busy today.”
“Yay.” With this new information, Angie let her off the bed on her side and immediately crawled over to Skyfire, who even fast asleep somehow knew to wrap her arms around her. They were an adorable couple, and the Doctor thought herself very lucky to be their third.
It was a funny story, actually. Angelina and Skyfire had started dating sometime after the Doctor had come back, and while she’d been aware of that, she hadn’t realized just how serious things had gotten until they submitted a request to move in together. After talking with them individually, she’d decided to give them the all-clear, and for a couple months there was nothing to report except they were doing quite well.
Until, of course, the day they asked her to try a threesome with them.
It had already been a bit of a strange day when Skyfire showed up at the Doctor’s office; all the squads were home, the problem children were staying quiet, the cafeteria had served something the Doctor not only liked but actually gotten seconds of…As relaxing as it was, it meant she had nothing to do, so any distraction would be a welcome one. Skyfire, as it turned out, volunteered herself as she walked into the office smelling of smoke. “Good afternoon, Doctor. Staying busy, I hope?”
“I wish,” she sighed. “There’s nothing going on today that needs my attention, so right now, you can have all of it. How can I help you?”
“I actually came here to help you- or, rather, to make you an offer-”
At that point, Angelina burst into the room. “Hey, Doct- Sky?”
“Angie?” The Doctor was momentarily forgotten. “I came to ask the Doctor about that thing we talked about.”
“Oh! I did, too! Well, what do you think, Doctor?”
She smiled. “Skyfire didn’t get a chance to finish yet.”
“Oh! Can I ask her, then?” Angelina was hovering slightly off the ground. “I mean, I know you suggested it, but-”
“Go ahead, I won’t stop you.” Sky rolled her eyes, albeit with a smile.
The courier floated over to the Doctor’s desk. “Doctor, will you have a threesome with us? At least once?”
“…Huh?” She glanced from one brunette to the other. “I mean, I don’t have a reason not to, but I would like to know why I’m being blessed like this.”
“We both think you’re hot, and you don’t have any public relationships,” Skyfire shrugged.
Angie swooped down and lifted the Doctor out of her chair. “Besides, you do so much for Rhodes Island that just having one person to support you just doesn’t seem like it’d be enough. Even if it turns out you don’t enjoy tonight, we still want to be there for you.”
“That’s really sweet of you.” She hugged Angelina mid-air. “Send me over to Sky; I’m not letting her go without a hug.”
“You’ll get more than a hug tonight,” the pyromancer mumbled as she accepted the incoming embrace.
Angie pumped her fist and cheered. “Alright, I’ve got to finish my runs, but this is exciting! See you tonight, babes!”
“Was that plural?” The Doctor wondered aloud as she floated out the door. “Or was she talking to you?”
“I think she meant the plural…Anyway, you know where to find us, so I should probably get going.”
The Doctor pouted. “Do you have to? I still don’t have any work I need to take care of.”
“As much as I’d love to, I do have something to finish before tonight.” After thinking about it for a moment, Skyfire quickly kissed her and made for the door before she could react. “Thank you!”
“No problem…” She watched her dash out of the office before closing the door and licking the transferred gloss off her lips.
After work, the Doctor changed into something easier to slip out of and walked to the couple’s apartment, more than a little nervous. Being sandwiched between them sounded like heaven to her, but it seemed like a rather delicate balancing act, and she’d never been particularly light on her feet.
That first night, however, was enough to push away any doubts she’d had - rather, the first morning after, waking up in a tangle with Angelina’s hair in her face and Sky’s head on her chest, convinced her to come back again…and again…and again. There was one night Angie had to work late, leaving the Doctor and Sky alone together, and that was special in its own way, and a week later when Skyfire had to leave for a conference with King’s Wand, that proved just as amazing, so the day after, the pyromancer returned to find the Doctor finishing moving her stuff from her single dorm to theirs.
Which brought the Doctor back to the weekend ahead of them. She’d have to wait for them to wake up, of course, but she wondered if maybe this would be a good day to ask them about their plans for the future. After all, if things stayed like this, it would be nice to know what they thought about kids…She turned on the water in the shower to give it time to warm up.
The sound of bare feet running across the floor to join her in the bathroom nearly made her laugh out loud.

“Doctor?” Pramanix glanced up from her shrine bench. “Are you here to pray?”
“Nope. Figured you’d be free to talk about now, so I took my lunch.” The Doctor’s hood and mask were down as she squatted to be on Pramanix’s level.
The priestess shrugged. “We can talk. What’s going on?”
“Your brother’s what’s going on. He doesn’t know I’m a woman, and he’s made it his mission to have me continue the blood with one of you.”
“…Son of a bitch.”
The Doctor smirked. “Are you allowed to say that as a priestess?”
“I’m on break.” Pramanix shook her head. “If he knew you as well as I do, he’d probably want you for himself. He’s gotten real greedy since he left Kjerag.”
“Yeah, he’s a handful, but I think Kal’tsit and I know how to deal with him. Besides, so long as he thinks I’m a guy, he won’t have any issues with the two of us hanging out.”
The priestess shrugged. “You know all I do is priestess stuff and sleep, right?”
“And drink coffee…which, if you’re free now, I think we should go do.” The Doctor smiled. “C’mon, whaddya say we blow this popsicle stand and get some coffee, hmm?”
“I would, but I’m really comfortable where I am right now.”
She pouted. “Aww, come on, Pram-”
“Sorry,” Pram smiled. “But I’ll pay you to get coffee for me and bring it back.”
“…I decide how you pay me back.”
“Okay.”
The Doctor nodded and sprung to her feet. “Double-caff, five sugars, four creamers, shot of vanilla and a dash of cinnamon?”
“Yeah? Doctor, did you memorize my-”
“Yep!” She dashed off. “I’ll be back!”
In less than half an hour, the Doctor returned with four cups of coffee and a white paper bag. “Two cups apiece and some donut holes to go with them. The ones with Ds on them are mine.”
“Thanks, Doctor…mmm, it’s so sweet. Just perfect. Am I paying you back for both cups?”
“If you want to; you only need to for the first one, second one’s a gift.”
Pram smiled. “Alright, if you say so. Can you pass me the bag?”
“One sec.” The Doctor grabbed four donut holes, holding each between two fingers, before handing over the bag. “You can have the rest.”
“You’re so generous, Doctor. So, how did you want me to pay you back?” The priestess popped a perfect sphere of glazed donut dough in her mouth with a serene smile.
She smirked. “Yeah, that bit…it can wait, honestly.”
“If I’ve learned one thing from my brother,” Pram replied, “it’s that interest on debts can only ever be a bad thing. Let’s settle now, while it’s still fresh on my mind.”
“If you say so…I want a kiss.”
Pramanix sat perfectly still for a moment before taking one more sip of her first cup and setting down. “I’m guessing you’d take my brother up on his mad idea, then, if he was right?”
“It’s not about that.” The Doctor blushed. “I just…I really like spending time with you. You’re always out here, minding the shrine, and even if that’s just sitting here relaxing on a good day, you still come out here to do it. You’re literally the highest religious icon of a nation, and yet you’d rather spend your time here, at Rhodes Island, helping us with our work when we need you. Whenever I’m around you, I feel completely free to be myself and speak my mind, which I don’t get to do a lot working HR and battle strategies - whoever thought that was a good combination of duties should be shot - and I…I dunno. I’ve always just kind of wondered what it’d be like to be even just a little more than friends, you know? Like, not even friends with benefits, just friends who kiss each other good night or…something…Am I digging myself into a hole here?”
“I…I don’t know.” The priestess was staring at her cup of coffee.
She sighed. “Brilliant.”
“It’s not like that, Doctor - I’d love to follow through with your idea, but the problem is that as the Karlan Priestess, I can’t just play around like that. We’d…we’d have to get married.”
“Seriously?” The Doctor chuckled. “Just to kiss you, I have to wed you?”
Pramanix nodded. “And even though my brother would obviously agree, if we don’t have any children, he might get suspicious, and then he could use his power to try and break our union apart…and then I might not be able to stop myself from freezing him solid.”
“Woah. Like, that’s a bit extreme for an imaginary marriage.”
“Maybe…but it’d be nice if it wasn’t imaginary.” She looked over at the Doctor. “Doesn’t Rhodes Island have some connections with Rhine Labs?”
She nodded. “Yeah, we do.”
“And they’ve done some work on genetics, if I remember correctly?”
“Um…sort of?” The Doctor sighed. “I’m not sure where this is going-”
Pramanix smiled. “Doctor, there might still be a way for me to have your baby.”
“I- wha- hang on- That- I- You-…you really want to be with me that badly?”
“It’s…yes.” She nodded. “On a different day, I might not have told you, but after such an honest confession, I couldn’t help myself. So…what do you say?”
The Doctor blinked. “Is this the most casual marriage proposal ever?”
“It’s us, Doctor. What would you expect?”
“…Fair.” She turned to Pram. “Of course I’ll marry you.”
Pramanix clapped. “Hurray! Now you can have that kiss.”
“Wait, so was it the betrothal and not the…I’m confused.”
“Oh, that’s easy.” She left her spot and walked over to the Doctor, leaning over with a bright smile as she cupped her face. “I needed my goddess to say yes first~”
“Hmm…Ch’en fell asleep at her desk again.” Hoshiguma sighed, setting her jacket over her friend’s shoulders. “She’ll work herself to death if she’s not careful-”
“Hoshi…” the sleeping swordsman mumbled.
She stopped, still hovering over her. “Yes?”
“Hmm…” Ch’en pulled Hoshiguma’s jacket tighter around her. “Hoshi. Heh. Nooo, I’m trying to work…Okay, but not for too long…”
“What is she dreaming about?”
As if on cue, she attempted to cuddle the desk, frowning when it didn’t meet her expectations. “No, don’t leave yet…where are you going?”
“I’m right here,” the real Hoshiguma whispered in her ear.
“Hoshi?” Ch’en drowsily sat up. “Hoshi- Oh!”
The oni smiled. “Did you have a nice dream, Lady Ch’en?”
“Did you hear…anything?” Clearly flustered, she nevertheless pulled the jacket tighter around her.
“Some.” Hoshiguma squatted so they could be on the same level. “You know, I get worried when I see you asleep at your desk like this.”
Ch’en shook her head. “Don’t be. I’m doing just fine.”
“If that were true, would I be able to hear you moaning my name while you sleep?”
“Th-those weren’t moans.” She blushed. “…Were they?”
She laughed. “No, but that you asked tells me enough. I’m here to protect you, my lady, including from yourself, so please find a way to sleep in your bed more often. As cute as you look mumbling my name and clutching my jacket, it can’t be good for your back to sleep like this.”
“…Hoshi, would you be willing to help me come to bed?”
“Of course, Lady Ch’en-”
“You can just say Ch’en, Hoshi.” She stood from her chair, fully putting on Hoshiguma’s jacket. “After all, I’m asking for you to be more than just a guardian.”
Hoshiguma shrugged. “In a way, I’m simply doing my job. Any and every threat against your wellbeing has to be defended against.”
“Hoshi, I…never mind-”
“Come on, then.” She picked up her counterpart, even as she instinctually began to wriggle. “Ch’en, stop squirming. I can’t carry you off to my room if you keep thrashing around.”
Ch’en stopped. “Your room?”
“My bed can take more stress than yours…although I’m not sure if it will last the night. We have a lot of pent-up tension to release, after all.”
“You’ve felt it, too, then.” She sighed in relief. “I thought I was imagining things.”
Hoshi laughed. “Did you expect me not to notice those glances? I’m an oni, Ch’en - I know when someone’s eyes are on me. Especially when mine are always watching you.”
“For my protection or-”
“I need to know you’re safe,” she replied, “and you look amazing in and out of the field. Remember that dress you wore for the festival?”
Ch’en blushed. “That was almost a year ago now.”
“And I’ve been thinking of it ever since.”
“I- This could not have gone better.” She hugged Hoshi’s neck. “I love you, Hoshi.”
The oni blushed. “Love you, too…” With that, she began charging down the halls towards her room, Ch’en holding on for dear life and giggling. If there’d been anyone around to watch, they’d probably be surprised that either of them could be so at ease.
Of course, once they got back to Hoshiguma’s room, their neighbors woke up, but that wasn’t quite the same.
(requested by anonymous; I needed a name, and for the service Neji-Pan does our community, it only seemed fair. Look up their Pixiv if you want more fem!Doc content, and you won’t be disappointed [NSFW warning here - not for the Arknights side, necessarily].)
“Doctor,” Dr. Kal’tsit entered her office with a knock. “You’re due for a check-up.”
“Ah, yes. I’ll be right over to the medical bay, I just need to finish this first.” Her hood was down, exposing the long scar of Originum which ran across her left cheek.
Her physician shook her head. “The room is already booked, and considering your condition, any delay is unacceptable.”
“Hmm…Understood.” The Doctor saved her work and followed Kal’tsit to her office. “Are these check-ups normally conducted in your office, Dr. Kal’tsit?”
“Yours are of special concern to me; should one of the other medics find your test results, they may do something…rash.”
The patient cocked her head. “Rash, Dr-”
“Call me Kal, if you would.” She reached into her desk and extracted a small, empty syringe. “If you don’t wish to extend the same courtesy, I can continue to use your title.”
“…No, I would prefer you call me Neji.”
Kal’tsit nodded. “Neji, before I take a blood sample, I do have a few questions I need you to answer. These may seem unusual, but they’re important for monitoring your mental state and prolonged recovery.”
“I’ll answer any question you have…although,” Neji thought aloud, “I do have a few myself.”
“After the examination, perhaps. Firstly, have you noticed any additional crystal growth?”
The patient shook her head. “No, the pre-existing crystals are the only ones present.”
“Any unusual aches or pains?” Her eyes narrowed as the Doctor was hesitant to answer. “Any at all?”
“Yes…but I believe they may be the result of ill-fitting clothing more than anything else.”
Kal’tsit blinked. “Where.”
“My…my chest and shoulders, particularly after my workouts.” She sighed. “I’ve asked Orchid for advice, but I need measurements for her, and asking for someone to help take them is rather embarrassing.”
“I see. Seeing as I need to conduct a physical exam of you regardless, I’m willing to do that for you.”
Neji’s eye lit up. “Thank you, Kal.”
“…I haven’t heard you say my name like that in some time.” The doctor closed her eyes and sighed. “The rest should be self-evident. Let’s begin the physical portion.”
“Very well. Um, to what extent do I need to strip for this?”
If anyone who knew Kal’tsit well had been in the room, they might have noticed the subtle change in her expression; unfortunately, the only person who had held that position had just asked the question. “You can keep your underwear on…for now.”
“Hmm?” The Doctor had already removed her jacket and was working on the T-shirt beneath it. “Did you say something, Kal?”
“No, please, continue.” She dabbed the corner of her mouth with a tissue as Neji finished preparing for the examination, going so far as to fold her clothing…Kal’tsit had always loved her fixation on order.
The physician rolled her desk chair forward, held down on a lever at the bottom until it became a flat bed for her patient to lay on, and patted the top. “Lay down on this, please.”
“Your chair is rather remarkable,” Neji observed as she followed Kal’tsit’s instruction. “Perfect for your line of work.”
“You had a hand in designing it, actually. Where should we start…Do you remember anything from before your recovery from Chernobog?”
Her patient sighed. “Some, yes. Random information, nothing I have found useful yet. It raised a question about our previous relationship, however.”
“Oh?” Kal’tsit was doing her best to ignore the tragic incapability of the Doctor’s bra to perform its designated functions and conduct a facsimile of an exam. “You can ask it, certainly.”
“Was our marriage legally binding?”
She stepped back from the chair-turned-hospital-bed. “You…you remember?”
“I have clear memories of the two of us wearing white and holding hands in front of Pramanix in something that looked like ceremonial garb…that was a marriage ceremony, correct?”
“It…it was.” Kal’tsit sat on her desk. “Neji, I’m sorry for what I was about to do.”
The Doctor sat up, kicking the lever to return the chair to its original form. “Honey, do you want to know something funny?”
“Honey?”
“A term of endearment - I don’t remember the old ones.” She stood up and wrapped Kal’tsit in an embrace. “Why did you keep quiet for so long?”
“I…I was scared.”
Neji chuckled, which created a new distraction for Kal’tsit to deal with. “Oh, Kal, you should never be scared of me. If I was willing to marry you once, I’m willing to do it again to make sure it takes.”
“You are?” Kal’tsit pulled back just enough to look her in the eye. “But you don’t remember anything about that time-”
“I remember you brushing my hair and humming songs I never learned the names of, but I asked for ‘the slow one that starts on C minor’ and you would hum it for me. I remember taking you to a Lungmen restaurant and accidentally ordering a bowl of ramen too spicy for either of us to eat, so we asked to take it to-go and gave it to a homeless Infected girl…who, if I remember correctly, later became one of our Operators, but who she is or where she is now I couldn’t tell you. I remember a conversation on a beach where you said you could never love anyone else. I remember being struck by a small chunk of Originum which fell from the sky, and you crying as you and Nearl tended to me. The look on your face was heart-breaking…But most importantly, I remember this sensation of holding you to my chest, of feeling your cheeks warm as you tried to think about anything else but how much you wanted to give me a thorough ‘exam,’ of waiting for just the right moment to-”
At that point, she licked her neck and pressed even closer, lifting her wife by the thighs and after a well-placed kick laid down with her on the “impulse” chair, as Neji had called it when designing it. Kal’tsit’s ears began twitching as she reached one hand for the Doctor’s head to scratch behind her drooping Cautus ears and settled the other below her waist, lost to the world as euphoria and memories entangled themselves in an intoxicating fog over her mind…
Any pretense of medical necessity was thrown out the window, but the next hour could still be considered a physical exam. This was repeated several times throughout the day, in a number of private locations, and by the next day, it was clear that the fire had been completely rekindled. Their co-workers, for the most part, were thankful that the sexual tension that they’d emitted for some time now could finally be released healthily. It did make company meetings a little awkward sometimes, but that was a fair price to pay - and, for some of the Operators, made for a good distraction, as watching one trying to ignore the other’s wandering hands during a brief was far more engaging than the presentations themselves…

“Tiny!” The Doctor called out, chasing after Grani. “Don’t think you’ll escape that easily!”
“You can try, Doctor, but you won’t catch me like that!” She sprinted past the marker and handed a small stick to Courier, who took off like a bolt of lightning; the Doctor, in a last ditch burst of speed, reached Angelina and passed off her stick, leaving the two runners to watch the rest of the relay from the sidelines.
Grani watched her opponent take deep and heavy breaths. “Alright there, Doc? I’ve never seen you run that fast.”
“I’ve been practicing,” she replied, smirking. “No wonder you’re a Vanguard; if you can move your legs like that, you can run circles around anyone in Reunion.”
“They only announced this exercise a few days ago, though. What were you training for?”
The Doctor shook her head. “I’ll tell you when I meet my goal. For now, could you do me a favor?”
“Of course!” Grani bounced to her feet, still full of life. “What is it?”
“I’m really thirsty. Can you go get me some water?”
She nodded and jogged off, giving the Doctor enough time to think through her next attempt. When the mountless cavalier returned, she gulped down half a bottle of water and glanced at the sports drink Grani had brought with her. “They still sell that flavor?”
“Only in a few places,” she nodded, handing her the bottle. “You like these, right?”
“Yeah, thanks.” The Doctor didn’t open the bottle, simply setting it next to the other and sitting for a moment.
Grani scooted a little closer. “You’re sure you’re okay?”
“Oh, yeah, totally fine.” Her deflection was almost immediate, but she had a plan at last. “Are you doing anything after this finishes up?”
“Dinner - I could eat this whole field right now.”
The Doctor chuckled. “Alright, and after that?”
“No, that’s about it. I have a couple books I need to finish, but…why do you ask?”
“Do you play chess?” She wrapped a few strands of silvery-blonde hair around her fingers. “I mean, you fight like I imagine a knight would, but I wasn’t sure if you knew the rules.”
Grani smiled. “You wanna have a game night?”
“Exactly.”
“Sounds like fun!” She reclined over the back of the bench, stretching until she felt a satisfying pop. “Sooo after dinner, I’ll just come up to your room?”
The Doctor suddenly realized she had something to do before she could eat. “Uh, yeah, sure! Your team’s totally crushing us, aren’t they?”
“Well, you let SilverAsh be team captain, after all.”
“Right, right.” She glanced off the field and back to the complex. “I uh…I’ve gotta go, urgent stuff. I’ll see you tonight?”
Grani nodded. “Can’t wait, Doctor! I’ve been wondering what your room looks like.”
“Huh?”
“N-nothing!” She waved her off. “Good luck!”
The Doctor grabbed her gifted drinks, took a deep breath, and flung herself forward, sprinting from the track their “field exercises” were occurring on all the way to her room. If she’d ran like that, maybe she could have won after all…
A few hours later, after a deep clean of her room and herself, the Doctor greeted Grani at the door in her usual casual outfit with a beaming smile. “Right on time, as usual. Come on in. I know you just ate, but can I get you anything?”
“Water, please!” Grani glanced around the small apartment and whistled. “It’s all so clean! You didn’t have to do all this for me, Doctor.”
‘Oh, you have no idea,’ she thought to herself with a mental sigh.
As the Doctor brought her guest her water, she stopped inspecting the decor and sat at the table. “Okay, Doctor, I hope you’re ready to lose!”
“Oh, you think you can beat me twice in one day?” The Doctor began setting up an…unusual chess set. “We’ll see.”
“Wait, Doctor, is this custom-made for Rhodes Island? It’s still the normal layout, right?”
She nodded. “Kal’tsit’s the White Queen, and I’m the Black Queen.”
“You said earlier I was a knight,” Grani continued as she examined the pieces, “but I’m the Black King. Any reason for that?”
“Uh, no, none in particular.”
Her opponent raised her eyebrow with a knowing grin. “Sure, Doctor. You’re first.”
Three games of chess later, and the Doctor was thoroughly defeated; she had poured herself a glass of wine, set it on the table by her couch, and collapsed into said couch face-first, staring into the leather with incredible focus.
“You’re really torn up about losing to me…” Grani observed, still sitting at the table. “We were just playing, Doctor-”
“But if I can’t beat you, how am I supposed to ask you out?!”
…what? “Huh?”
“You’re fast, and you’re smart, and you’re brave, and you’re so humble and hardworking. How can I possibly compare to that?”
“But…” She was still at a loss. “How does that prevent you from asking me on a date?”
The Doctor pounded the couch with her fist. “Because people don’t like people weaker than themselves, Grani! Sure, you’ll protect me all day, but that’s not the same as wanting to…to…I’ve said too much already. You can just go.” Fortunately for the heartbroken Doctor, Grani not only didn’t understand that line of logic - well, not logic, exactly - but didn’t care…Besides, there was one thing the Doctor had that Grani didn’t.
“You know, Doctor, there’s something you have I never will.”
“What?”
Grani took a seat at her feet. “Two things actually.”
“What?” The Doctor looked over her shoulder. “Grani, what are you-”
“One: you have curves. Do you know how many people think I’m a man when they first meet me? That’s not why they call me Tiny, but still…”
She sat up. “But that’s because I don’t like leg day.”
“Two, and I know this one will convince you.” Grani hopped across the cushions until she landed directly next to the Doctor, their thighs touching. “You have my heart. I don’t care about any of that other stuff, Doctor; I like how focused you, how stubborn you, and it amazes me that little old me could have this kind of effect on you…and you’re really cute when you’re trying too hard.”
“You think so?”
The Operator set her head on the Doctor’s shoulder. “I really do. Getting to stare at your butt while you were fussing was a nice bonus.
“Wha-” She sighed. “I’m glad you liked it. So, you wanna go on a date?”
“We kinda already did, didn’t we? I mean, I’m already here, after all.”
The Doctor shrugged. “I didn’t think of it as one.”
“Well, that’s an easy fix!” Grani leaned in hard enough to knock her new pillow on her side and rested her head against her chest. “There we go…Do you mind if I take a nap? It’s been a long day.”
“Y-you don’t want a blanket or anything?”
She shook her head. “This is fine.”
“O-okay.” The Doctor tentatively reached out her hand and began patting Grani’s head. “You’re sure?”
“Well, if you want, you can carry me to the bed.”
And with that, Doctor.exe completely crashed, and a smiling Grani stayed the night with no further issues.

The Doctor laid back in the patient’s chair, watching Gavial study an X-ray of her currently-splinted right arm. “What’s the verdict?”
“You got thrown to the ground during training and broke it; best bet is to set you up with a cast and let nature take its course.”
“A cast? Seriously?” She groaned. “I thought we had all this awesome healing tech for a reason, Gav.”
The croc doc shrugged. “The quick fix isn’t always the best, and you’re a noncombatant, so you have time to heal properly. If you need to go out before the cast comes off, we’ll do it the other way, but trust me, this is better.”
“Fine. How soon will it be off, do you think?”
“With your body?” As Gavial grabbed the stuff for the cast. “A month.”
The Doctor raised an eyebrow. “With my body? What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You heal faster than most people, Doc. Not enough to get you out of this, but still, it’s pretty impressive.”
“Uh-huh.” She watched her walk around the room with a smile. “Is that all that’s impressive?”
Gavial gave her a sideways glance as she rolled her fully-stocked tray to the patient’s chair. “Does this really seem like a good time to be asking that question?”
“I mean, you have to finish the job either way, and I’m not taking any sedatives, so why not make small talk? Besides, if you tell me what you think, I’ll give you the same courtesy.”
“Fair.” She undid the splint and began wrapping the Doctor’s forearm in a soft white stockinette. “Honest answer?”
That was music to her patient’s ears. “Obviously.”
“You’re in better shape than most of Reunion and some of the town guards who asked my father for my hand, and that scar on your cheek suits you nicely. It’s weird you don’t have a boyfriend, or at least a boytoy; back home, a woman like you would’ve been snapped up like a gazelle at a watering hole, but you’ve either turned down every offer and they’ve taken it rather well, or no one’s asked you out…A real shame, honestly.” As Gavial finished with the stockinette and worked on immobilizing her wrist with padding, she didn’t notice the delighted look on the Doctor’s face.
“SilverAsh offered to take me on a boat trip once, but I turned him down, and I guess they heard what I said to him and took it seriously.” The patient sucked in a breath between her teeth. “Too tight there.”
Gav loosened the padding just enough and finished the first layer. “What did you say to him?”
“I told him I had someone in mind already, and that even if I didn’t, we wouldn’t be very compatible, him being a guy and all.”
“Ah.” The doctor nodded to herself as the second layer was finished. “That would do it. Can you move it at all?”
The Doctor shook her head. “Not an inch. So, you wanna hear what I think?”
“Lay it on me.”
“Oh, I would right now if my arm wasn’t going to be out of commission for a month.” She smiled as Gavial stopped working to look her in the eye. “Come on, you said you had guys propositioning you back home, right? I don’t know a lot about where you’re from, but I can at least say they have good taste - you look like a supermodel, can fight like an arena fighter, and those eyes of yours feel like they could melt solid steel with a single glare. Not to mention, I know we sort of have a uniform here at RI, but like, whoever let you walk out onto the battlefield in that must’ve thought you’d be eye candy enough to keep their attention off the people swinging swords at them, because damn you look good in a skirt. I could go off like this for another half-hour if you need time to apply the plaster.”
Her doctor blinked slowly before unwrapping her arm at double-speed. “I think it would be better to heal this myself.”
“Oh? And why’s that?”
“Because if I don’t,” Gav admitted, her eyes flashing, as she grabbed her staff from across the room, “the next half-hour will hurt you more than I’d like it to.”
The Doctor smiled. “You don’t wanna take it slow for the next month, get to know each other while you feed me soup from a spoon?”
“Do you want to wait a month before I can hold you at night with my arms and my tail at the same time?”
“…Okay, you’ve got me there.” She flexed her arm as Gavial fixed in several seconds what would’ve been a month’s work for nature. “Much better. Honestly, though, at least let me take you to dinner first.”
Gav set her staff back in its corner, looked the Doctor over with a thoughtful expression, before finally sighing. “If that’s really what you want.”
“Trust me, darling,” she replied, getting up from her chair and kissing the croc doc’s blushing cheek, “dessert will be much sweeter this way.”
There’s a saying about Archosaurians I’m a little hesitant to repeat here, but I’d be remiss not to: once you go green, you’re living the dream. You’d be hard pressed to find a better example of that than this Doctor and her crocodile queen.
Scavenger and the Doctor were heading back to the office from lunch when Provence walked down their hall in the opposite direction. “That is one massive tail.” Scavenger muttered as they stopped, watching her pass them by.
“Sure is,” the Doctor replied, a smirk beneath her bandana. “Not the only thing I’d want to fluff about her, though. You could die happy between those thighs.”
“You’re not wrong…”
Her walking companion nudged her with an elbow. “Hey, Scav, I get it, but we can daydream just as well in the office.”
“Yeah, yeah.” She sighed as they continued on their way. “I wish she didn’t remind me so much of Lyla.”
“Who’s that?”
Scavenger shook her head. “No one you need to know about.”
“Alright, be like that if you want.” A moment’s silence. “Your ex?”
“My love.”
The Doctor shrugged. “The difference being it wasn’t either of y’alls’ choice to break it off?”
“Like I said, you don’t need to know,” the Zalak mercenary emphasized, “so don’t worry about it.”
“Scav, take it easy. I’m just trying to make conversation.”
Scavenger shook her head. “Not in the mood.”
“Fair enough.” They reached the door, and the Doctor inserted the key to unlock it but left it unturned. “Sorry. I’m just curious about your tastes, is all.”
“What do you mean by that?” Scav stuck her scabbard and sword against the back wall before sitting on the floor, her back to the Doctor’s desk.
Her boss sat across from her on the floor, ignoring the small pile of assignments on her desk. “What do you think it means?”
“Are you asking what kind of girl I like?” She rolled her eyes. “Don’t you have work to do?”
“In a minute. You know what I meant, so tell me.”
Scavenger shook her head. “Why do you want to know?”
“Because I’m curious, like I said,” the Doctor replied, pulling off her hood and bandana and releasing the mane of scarlet hair she’d buried in her jacket. “It’d be nice to have someone to talk to who knows I’m not just ‘one of the guys’ for once.”
“You, one of the guys?” She laughed. It’d been awhile since someone had gotten her to do that, but the idea of people thinking the Doctor was anything but a woman’s woman was ridiculous. Sure, she rarely wore anything but her uniform outside of the office, but when she did, people took notice.
“I’m serious. Hand me my brush, would ya?” Scavenger tossed her brush to her with her tail. “Thanks. You laugh, but trying to talk to most of the other Operators about wanting to go down on Hoshiguma just gets me weird looks from the other chicks and whistles from the raunchier dudes. Like, what, Gravel and the rest can gossip about Matterhorn’s muscles, but if I want to talk about your abs, I have to go talk to Midnight and Flamebringer?”
The response wasn’t what the Doctor had expected. “You want to talk to me about my abs?”
“Oh shit, I used you as my example, didn’t I?…I’m just saying-”
“You’re not getting out of this that easily.” The mouse metaphorically pounced on that comment. “You just want to know if I think you’re hot, don’t you?”
She sighed, her freckles darkening as she blushed. “Yeah, I do.”
“Well, I do.”
“Figu- wait.” The Doctor stopped mid-brush. “What?”
Scavenger leaned forward, smirking. “Lyla was like you - she knew what she wanted and was frustrated that she couldn’t have it. I found out too late, after I came back from exile and had to learn it through the diary she left me, but I guess I’ve never stopped looking for her in other women. Provence is more of a guilty pleasure of mine, since I know I’ll never have a body quite like that, but seeing your eyes light up when you’re freaking out about that band you follow, or watching you flip your hair half a dozen times so it falls just right after being pressed against your back for hours at a time, or listening to you hum while you’re typing away…It takes me back to being around her, stealing glances apparently in between her doing the same.” She chuckled, wiping a stray tear from her cheek. “Guess you’re even more like her than I thought.”
“Damn, Scav, I didn’t mean to make it so deep.”
“That’s alright. You helped me realize something, at least.”
The Doctor raised an eyebrow, her eyes wandering across Scavenger’s frame. “What’d I do?”
“I missed my chance with Lyla,” she replied, crawling forward, “so I can’t let myself repeat that mistake with you.”
“I’ve never heard you say something so cheesy.” Nevertheless, when Scavenger went for the kiss, the Doctor pulled her forward, wrapping her legs around Scavenger’s waist as they fell together…
