you need to lean into this time that you have it is actually every thing you wanted it is time for yourself where no one is asking anything of you. i guess You are asking a lot of you but like. Cant stay overly worried about that the whole time. focus on moving and getting out because actually looking at it, its not that impossible. you have moved before. you can do it again.

the thing about poisonous people is that theyll stay in something toxic until it kills them. better to stay in something corrosive until the foundation gives and everything comes crashing down. then your heart can be justifiably broken with no remorse because things ended badly and bitterly rather than before-it-got-bad. your heart doesnt have to suffer the torment of the head which ponders, incessantly, on what could have been. yet both the heart and the head know that there is no what could have been, destruction was the only way this could have ended

EDIT: part two here + the letterboxd list
edit: part three here
i saw someone say nobody needs to know what a .txt file is anymore. what the fuck is the world coming to
unironically i think we need to bring back computer labs because APPARENTLY some people WERENT taught basic computer literacy and internet safety in school
things about computers/the internet i think kids should be formally taught in schools because theyre important to know and the amount of soon to be grown adults i know who know NOTHING about any of these is quite frankly almost all of them (and resources to learn if you dont know these things, because its never to late to get better with computers)
how to troubleshoot by yourself when you have a technical problem
what common file types are
some very basics on how to use ""developer tools"" on your computer (because i cant think of a better way to refer to them) like task manager and command prompt (and their mac equivalents, terminal and activity monitor ofc)
how to read and understand a privacy policy and what your personal data is, as well as what it being collected actually means and steps you can take to keep it private
how to understand terms of service (hey. if you have trouble with reading legalese and worry about being able to understand these policies anyways, here's a site that gives basic summaries of privacy policies and ToS)
what a cookie actually is
internet privacy and your digital footprint!! seriously i dont know why we stopped teaching people that they shouldnt be putting their entire real identity online in a world where your online actions can ruin you irl
basic safety measures like antivirus software (and why you should use it or if the built in one on windows or mac is enough for you) and backing up your computer (also a mac guide)
common keyboard shortcuts (and on mac)
as an additional note: things i think everyone should know on computers and the internet but schools may bit hesitant to teach about for whatever moral/legal standards schools pretend to operate on
vpns and adblockers! (btw for most of these where you can pay for things im purposefully not recommending any specific software but seriously just use ublock origin for an adblocker)
how to not get a virus while pirating something
what a temporary email is and when to use one
red flags that you shouldn't trust a website (and how to quickly check the security of a site)
what javascript on a website does and how to disable it to get around paywalls
ok one last addition! if you want to take it one level higher, i think learning the very basics of at least one programming language is good for people. it makes computers less scary and it makes you feel very cool, and a lot of people get discouraged about it because it seems overly complicated and hard to learn outside a formal classroom setting, so heres some resources for learning the very basics of python (because i consider it the easiest language to learn and knowing one language will make it easier to learn others)
an online compiler so you dont need to download anything or worry about running code directly on your computer if that makes you nervous
a basic video guide to introduce you to python and walk you through beginner steps
a guide to some syntax and commands you should know (this was literally my lifeline in my first CS class)
some performance tasks to give you things to code to practice and assess yourself
Privacy Resources
Interested in taking tech privacy more seriously in our current..situation? It can be ridiculously overwhelming. When I set the intention to work on having a more private tech set up this year, it felt honestly kind of impossible. I'm not "techy" - I know some HTML/CSS from my neopets days and that's kind of it.
So I wanted to share some resources that have helped me along the way.
The Cyber Cleanse
This is a 21-day guided series to taking stock of where you're at and moving toward a more private set up. It's very easy to follow. Some of the steps may take a while - I haven't finished everything on the list - but it's been key to helping me understand how the component parts of privacy fit together.
Privacy Pack
This is a site that helps you visualize what services you're using that could be security risks and what some of the common alternatives are. It's constantly being updated so even for the categories where there aren't many options, it's worth checking back later for more. By having the names, you can poke around and research to see what's right for you.
Into to the Fediverse
Corpo social media is a privacy nightmare. They don't just collect what you post but they stitch it together with your real world travel and purchasing behaviors and manipulate you to stay on their platforms longer. What if there were social sites that *didn't* do that? There are! It's called the Fediverse. This linked video will get you up to speed. Neocities is also worth checking out!
I'd also recommend The Hated One on YouTube with a hefty dose of take what works. He's got some very good tutorials on phone privacy, how VPNs work, and other basics for those who like a video format.
It's process. Anything you can do helps you and people around you - so it's not just people the government hates using privacy methods and making it easier to target folks.
Hope this helps you on your journey!
everything is a distraction (ig reels) but weed helps you get out of thought patterns sometimes
climate and geographies around the world
You waste so much time regretting the mistakes of your past that you squander your time in the present, and then regret that later too. Live in the NOW. your past does not exist. You feel very bound to people’s opinions of you, specifically your family and people who have known you awhile. You are embarrassed that they are seeing the rebrand but also ur parents were always like but “you’re not like this you’re like that” and you listened to them because you didn’t know yourself.
idk the dissonance of how I perceive me and how i am perceived by others is so frustrating to me.. like y’all got me fucked up but also again in the waysthat I have no sense of self
Idk what can I say.. everything that I thought would happen did..
And my friends won’t believe me but he wasn’t heartless he was devoid and definitely abusive, but even abusers used to be scared little boys who want to be held unconditionally and weren’t. I’d know.
He acted uncaring and unbothered but always noticed when my stomach growled.
The only thing other than sex that he seemed even a little passionate about was cooking, and maybe it was the only way he knew how to show anything.
I thought he didn’t like kissing, but he never kissed me as hard as he was when he was trying to make himself come.
Perhaps the only truthful thing about him was his love for his cats, which I came to view as extensions of his heart. He would never admit to his rapt interest in me, but his cats gave him away—always—sniffing my shoes, my bag, the strings on my pants. Yeah.
I saw a boy who weathered the same mental war as I, but maybe his scars ran deeper, made him more daring. Or maybe he was as contorted as the tissue that stitches itself together again and again and again.
Whatever it was, I don’t think I am capable of that life, but I want to be.
Reading this while a kind of rly shitty guy laying on my shoulder it’s not lost on me
Idk it looked like he had fun wanted to see how the other half who don’t think about genocide or systemic oppression life how the side who litters out the window live, how the kind of people which mysterious income live, how peiple who don’t rly give a shit about other people live. He was a collector of experiences, he was hungry for life and did whatever he had to do in order to get it. I guess I wanted to see if I could live that way.
But in the process the life left his eyes. Sex work is good money if you can decompartmentalize enough. My friend has this skill too, the ability to detach from his emotions, and was offended that I pointed out that he and the abuser had the same skill.. “I am NOT him” my friend said over the phone. But in humanizing the abuser I see how anyone could become him.
Why do I I need to humanize an abuser. Why do I need to humanize evil people. Learn them from inside out but it’s a waste of time
Alo he said hed let me fuck his butt but it would have to be worth the clean out but he’s lowk into ittt. I am out of topping practice 😵💫
Relationships scary bc it will end and the point of this guy was supposed to be it doesn’t matter if it ends but now I am attached why we sleep skin to skin
