The Reaper is already gone, having begun his quest in haste. He knows N'kari is a thing of secrets and of knowing; it will only be a matter of time before the Keeper finds out and not too much longer that he tries to intervene.
Hopefully, that would take the form of a glorious battle. Skarbrand lets the thought push him onwards. It's the Wood Elves he chooses as his first target. Virginity...a ridiculous human concept and yet one that held belief and therefore power in his domain.
It never occurs to him to use Subterfuge. A military minded daemon, the Daemon instead yokes the local beastmen to his cause. An Elven maiden's heart for a great boon.
Within the fortnite, one of the Great Forests is set ablaze, running with blood both elven and chaos. Skarbrand wonders, rubbing his beard....do Beastmen even know what virginity is? Do they know what they are meant to seek?
What a pain.
"I am greatest of Slaaneshi's keepers! The most powerful, the most talented, the most beautiful!"
N'kari is sprawled in the ruined chamber floor, holding up one of Skarbrand's trophie skulls as if talking to it, a bottle of khronate brew he had taken from Khazaan's stash in his other claw
"Don't I deserve true love? Loyalty? A demon of my power and renown, a equal in all but name?"
The gathered demonettes all nod sympathetically. A few dab at their eyes at this greatest of all tragedies.
"He's beneath me. Beneath my notice, beneath my status, and beneath me in power! His only worth the silver i polished out of refuse!"
"I deserve better!" N'kari shouts as he holds up the skull and the demonettes cheer. "A better demon!"
Another cheer goes up.
"A better lover!"
The Reaper should've expected that even with their love and mixing and brewing, a Daemon of Nurgle would only be willing to help so far for so long. The Plague Fiend had tossed a moth-eaten, stained parchment at his hooves and then melted into a puddle of bile, excrement, and squirming things. It had very nearly taken the scrawled cure with it.
The cure to his Keeper Sickness.
It had been a list of ingredients, rituals, measurements; acquired at great cost-- souls taken from Tzeentch's grasp and delivered to Nurgle's "loving" embrace. But that cost was not only to Tzeentch. After all, the Keeper in question would certainly object to what the Reaper meant to do. But that only spurred Skarbrand onward.
There were seven steps and this was the first: virgin hearts, three, one taken from the breast of an elf. Nothing so daunting; not yet, anyway.
Secrets are valuable to the Slaaneshi, and valuable to those who wish to trade with them. It doesn't take long before a nurgling told a demonette, who then traded it to another, and another to another until the entire Slaaneshi grapevine is gossiping about how reaper plans to shed his leash. After all, Skarbrand never thought to make secrecy apart of his bargain.
"The Audacity!" heavy forge tools crash into the bedchamber walls. "The Gall!" A trophy skull shatters on impact with the wall.
The arch-tempter is raging and what few of Skarbrand's possessions is being thrown about the room.
"I grace his pathetic existence with my love, raise him out of his self imposed squalor, and this is how he thanks me?!" The demonettes watch from a safe distance.
"Ungrateful cur! No wonder Kharneth threw him out!" N'kari shouts as he kicks bones loose of the throne. "Exile is too good for him! Kharneth should have reforged him into a rat! So his form may finally match his core! A sneaky disloyal rat!"

Immediate, reflexive disgust from the Reaper, who wrinkles up his short snout. He pulls himself away from the suddenly tight embrace with a growl.
The Reaper's voice bullies itself into N'kari mind and dreams.
Tempter. Wake up.
N'kari expects the blood god to put up a struggle. He tightens his grip even more.
A loud rumbling words shakes the foundations of this reality, but N'kari easily justifies it with the dream logic.
"What would your preicous Valkia think of you now?" He mocks, drool dripping from his maw.

N'kari, who can sleep for years without waking, snores on. it might have been the twitching of his legs that had woken the reaper.
His long hoofed legs twitches back and forth, as if he's running in his dreams.
Thank the Aethyr.
Skarbrand visibly relaxes, maybe a little more than he's intending, back into the other daemon. He is only roused by the twitching of those legs, his mane standing. A Keeper's legs were dangerous....but at the same time, it reminds him of something he might catch Khysk doing whilsts alseep.
Chasing something? N'kari was so lazy most of the time Skarbrand was loathe to believe it.
The keeper's legs suddenly jerks before his whole body tenses, squeezing Skabrand even tighter.
"-aauft you, daddy." N'kari mumbles still sound asleep.
His dreams had been softer. And while he couldn't say he was a fan of such thing, it was better than that one recurrent nightmare about his sire. Bedding with the Tempter had it's upsides.
Some downsides too, the Reaper thought, waking up practically melded into the Keeper's chest.
Dark Gods, he hoped the other daemon wasn't awake.

Skarbrand takes one whiff of the lava-strewn lands on the other side of the portal and makes a face. He walks around the rip in reality. That was not the dungeons!
Instead of disappearing through the shimmering tear, the Bloodthirster, much more alarmingly, disappears through a yawning ornate archway. He doesn't know where the dungeons are in this place, but he'll find them.
Dig his way there if he has to.
"Where are you going? Get out of my palace! Only allies and guests are permitted within my walls!" N'kari shouts after him ineffectually.
Lovely vases are knocked aside and shattered. Paintings fall from walls. "Stops this at once! You big lout!" The keeper latches onto Skarbrands back, planting his hooves in the ground in a vain.
Skarbrand spits off to the side. The oily black stuff lands on the pristine tiles lining the garden, pitting the stone and blemishing the entire scene. He does not stop walking, sniffing around for exit and flexing his wings. He couldn't fly, but he could still jump quite high.
You know nothing of hardship; whoring, lazy, pastry eating excuse for a daemon.
How many Slaaneshi had jeered similar at him? When they failed to yoke him to their cause? They were dull barbs to Skarbrand.
" Where are dungeons?"
“And you know nothing of me. You know nothing of the Slaaneshi. No wonder both you and your Father fell so easily for Slaaneshi corruption.”
“How silly of me to have thought you different from Khorne. That you had rebelled because you saw his hypocrisy.”
N’kari rips open a portal before Skarbrand. “The sulfuric scent of Infernius leaks through. “But I shall not keep you from your grand destiny. Go on then.”
"Think me fool?" Skarbrand snorts, following the statement with an ugly sound. Every Slaaneshi whore who has approached me has done so with collar in hand. The Reaper points to the clothing the Tempter had brought him.
" Another collar. Not stupid."
There's murder in his eyes.
I do not need this pampering. I will heal. I am not a soft, simpering hedonite. The Reaper steps out of the water, one hoof after the other. His bulkier-- and taller too. Not quite as tall as N'kari, but the height between them isn't so vastly different.
" When gods eyes wander, I leave. You do not follow. Or else."
He shoulders past N'kari. And steps on the offered clothing for good measure.
"You asked for clothing!" N'kari calls out in frustration.
"You asked for pampering too. Was Father's gaze too much to bear? Infernius would have restored you faster. It would have been painful, dangerous, and grueling."
"But you could not handle it. You asked me to return you to sleep! Perhaps my Master's realm had changed you— into this cowardly thing that flees from hardship."
A wave of annoyance flashes across N'kari's face before it settles back into a beatific smile.
"I treat my dogs very differently, I assure you."
When the reaper flees tot he to other side, N'kari hisses. "Though you are acting like a spoiled pup."
"I need your help, remember? In battle. And you are in a sorry state, soft and purple and eating grass of all things. You need to recover as soon as possible, or do you plan to hide out in my palace forever?"
Skarbrand is suddenly very still. The fussing with his bear stops and slowly, the water comes to a boil around him. He does not hear anything the Tempter says after that, but he does feel his annoyance and the hiss is loud in his ear. Loud, and return.
Skarbrand turns suddenly, spilling perfumed water everwhere as he bears his teeth.
"I am not yours. I am not owned. No god, no daemon, no ones."
Especially not an overgrown Slaaneshi harlot.
“I do not want to own you, you big spoiled lout.” N’kari lies.
“Clearly your khornate mind cannot handle subtle conversations. Let me spell it out for you: I wish for an alliance, oh mighty Skarbrand.”
“No bloodthirster had defeated me in battle but you, and it would an honor have you as an ally. Unfortunately, it appears you are not in the best condition. Hence the special accommodations that I had been working on. I would not put nearly as much effort if I were acquiring a mere pet.”
Skarbrand wades and looks and judges. He flicks at ear at what he's being told, not enthused by any of it. Feeling distinctly like a pampered pooch and not the fearsome warrior he still was. He stands in the pool and only the water, now sloshing over the sides, keeps him decent.
"Am not a dog."
He glares at the garments, raising a lip.
" Would rather be naked."
His beard, heavy with water, tinkles and chimes with Slaaneshi sigils and charms and other obscene metallic trinkets. Skarbrand growls, fleeing to the other side of the fountain to fight with them.
A wave of annoyance flashes across N'kari's face before it settles back into a beatific smile.
"I treat my dogs very differently, I assure you."
When the reaper flees tot he to other side, N'kari hisses. "Though you are acting like a spoiled pup."

Skarbrand only un-bristles when the daemonettes leave. When N'kari leaves, he finds the nearest fountain and climbs his bulk into it, skin still burning. And-- and, trying to wash off the musk that constantly slicks his skin in place of his beloved blood.
When N'kari returned, he'd find one purple Woehound sank down to his eyeballs like a hippopotamus.
"I do apologize for the lack of accommodations." N'kari is still chatting when he saunters back into the garden. "It shall be modified to your liking at once!"
"A orchard of Bloodfruits, fed on a steady source of Khronate flesh. A pool of blood for your bathing needs. Mortal warriors set loose for you to hunt and snack on. Doesn't that sound absolutely wonderful?"
"But first, my dear, you wish to be dressed!" The keeper deposits a bundle of metal and leather on the edge of the foutain. They were clearly once of bloodthirster origin, but cleaned and modified to fit a larger form. "It may not be your old armor, but something is better than none!"
Skarbrand gives N'kari a look. He's interested-- the perk of his ears betrays that -- but a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. The Reaper continues eating.
Purple daemon talks too much. Skarbrand grouses, mind to mind with N'kari. His mental content is better than whatever comes out of his mouth.
The daemonettes of the glorious gardens look on in interest. They whisper and giggle; even as a Woehound, the Reaper is recognizable due to his injuries.
Even with his particular mutations too. Skarbrand, quite pointedly, flops himself down so that his nethers can't be so easily seen.
Bring clothing or banish minions. Or I eat them.
N'kari's delight at the clarity of the reaper's mind is far greater than his disappointment.
I shall do both! Small purple ones bad for eating. Make belly hurt.
He claps his hands, drawing the attention of his handmaidens. "This courtyard shall be the new living quarters of our... guest. See to it that he does not get disturbed by anyone."
There are groans of disappointment from the lounging demonettes as they begin to disperse.
Please, help yourself to anything you desire. I shall return shortly.
Skarbrand's eyes, pale gold and pale blue gems, squint in suspicion. But he does move his hooves. He does follow. His gnashing axes writhe and snarl behind him, dragged by silvered lengths of brazen-chain.
He steps through the Slaaneshi portal. One hoof emerges into the soft grasses of the elven island. The oppressive gaze of Khorne and Slaanesh both are far lesser, shielded by the Vortex's raw power.
Skarbrand visibly sags in relief. He also quite casually leans down to feed upon the grasses, wrinkling his nose at how they taste. Not sweet and golden like he's used to, but he's never been a picky eater.
He's forgotten N'kari is there.
They step out into one of the palace's many garden. It was beautiful and lush, and all together too Slaaneshi for N'kari's purposes.
"Doesn't that taste awful? Bitter, gritty, dry? Don't you want to eat something...delicious?" He tempts. This vegetarian habit must be broken at once, if he were to recover anything useful out of this pudgy husk.
"If you wait. I will bring you a treat far more fulfilling. But you must not eat while I am gone. Well you remain strong against that desire?"
"No killing!" N'kari leans back, palms outstretch to show his empty hands. "No fighting. Not with me at least."
"In fact, I want your help." The keeper states calmly.
"The purple lands makes you asleep. This is a bad place, but a bad place that keeps you...awake. Awake so we my talk."
"H...help?" Skarbrand's confusion is genuine. His snarl twists in curiosity and lessens ever so slightly. It takes him several heartbeats to hear and process and understand what he's been told.
Skarbrand looks at the ceiling. They are not in the Prince's realm anymore, this much he knows. He also knows that he watches. Khorne.
" It burns." The Reaper says, almost plaintively. " Do not want burn. Want sleep." He sneers at N'kari. "Do not want talk. Want to sleep. Forever."
"I understand. I, too, desire sleep. But sleep in the purple lands are a lie. Not real."
"But this is a bad place, I see that now. You are not ready, not yet." N'kari stands up, casually dusting off his knees. He tears open a portal to Ulthuan, turning his back towards the reaper as a show of trust.
"Come." He takes a step through gap in reality, and gestures at the purple bloodthister. "We go to new place. No more burning. No more Him." N'kari adds pointedly.
His surroundings are not the only thing familiar, as his rapidly flexing snout is making clear. The daemon tailing him smells like sweet smoke. He's met this one, killed them. Almost been killed by them.
And, the Reaper has no real reason to believe the bastard isn't here to finish the job.
"Why here? WHY HERE?" The daemon demands, aligning his faculties enough to speak. He takes a step forward. Several things are jostled from place, clattering to the ground. His axes, Carnage and Slaughter, drag behind him with a horrid metal sound. Purple, dripping with bloody sweetness-- they are corrupt as their master.
" Kill you. KILL YOU."
It seems that Khornate hatred of the hedonites is still very much intact.
"No killing!" N'kari leans back, palms outstretch to show his empty hands. "No fighting. Not with me at least."
"In fact, I want your help." The keeper states calmly.
"The purple lands makes you asleep. This is a bad place, but a bad place that keeps you...awake. Awake so we my talk."
