“Listen. I’ve got this, Allura,” Pidge said, standing on the top portion of the ladder that said ‘Do Not Stand’. “We just need to move these two wires and voila, instant fix.”
Allura stood off to the side, watching her girlfriend warily. “I mean, if you say so, Pidge.” She bit her bottom lip, eyeing the sway of the ladder. “I just don’t think that crossing two wires will fix the entire machine that, you know, fell off of the roof and completely broke apart.”
They stood in the middle of their backyard among the shambles of her work, looking at the disemboweled lion. It had been a science project that had quickly gotten out of hand and grown, quite literally, larger than life. The beast of a machine had been almost as tall as their house and weighed half as much despite its full range of mobility. Then, somehow, Allura would never know. The lion had ended up on top of their house and fallen down, spilling spare parts and gears across the yard.
“Don’t call her a machine, babe, her name was Green.” Pidge squeaked as something spurt oil down her back. “Maybe a little more than two wires.”
