As soon as he saw that face, he knew. He could tell. That wasn’t his real brother. It was certainly Felix- after all, he was a mirror image of himself. Same hair, same face, same almost everything. Though this Felix- this Felix was different. He carried himself different, compared to his true brother, he seemed more tired, more… miserable. Not even the ghost of a smile was on his lips, and he didn’t exactly seem… friendly.
Ted slowly approached the other Felix, his hands pulled to his chest meekly. He gave shy smile, waving at the boy. He was a little nervous about speaking, after all, this intimidating Felix didn’t seem to be as nice as his true brother. He didn’t see any other option, for he didn’t have any other solid form of communication with him.
“ … You’re not… my brother… are you? “ Ted choked out, each word coming in broken stutters, as if he struggled to simply get the words out. “ … are you okay? You seem tired… “ He came closer, looking over the other blond in concern. He was worried for this complete stranger, of course, but still, he wanted to find his real brother. “ Um… have you seen anyone else that looks like us around here? “ He sputtered softly.
It seemed at first glance that his brother was approaching him, and for that moment Felix felt the slightest bit at ease after feeling strangely panicked for a while, for no logical reason. But then after looking a bit closer, and finally hearing what looked like his twin speaking– It was evident it wasn’t Teddy. Not his Teddy, at least. And his frown deepened on his face as the weird part of his chest tightened again.
——— “ I suppose not. ” He answered, his eyes narrowing. “ And you quite obviously are not my brother either. ”
That stutter of his wasn’t something Felix was used to hearing. Not on the level this Ted had, apparently. But as much as a part of him was screaming to brush him off and find his actual brother, Felix stayed. Only to get rather caught off guard at the comment about him being tired, once he figured out what Ted had been saying.
——— “ Okay? Of course I’m okay, why in the world would I not be? ” Felix took a step back, scoffing as he immediately went defensive. “ I am not tired. Even if I was, that’s not even important, so don’t bring up that utter nonsense. ”
He thought for a moment. Had he seen anyone who looked like them…? No, because then he would have either found Teddy, or encountered what he assumed might be this other Ted’s brother first instead of him. “ I’m afraid not. ” Felix shook his head. “ You’re the only one I’ve seen so far that, well, looks like my brother. How unfortunate. ”
Ted frowned a little when Felix confirmed his suspicions, that this Felix wasn’t his true brother. His little form wilted and his eyes grew sad, and he almost looked like he was about to burst into tears.
Ted wanted his brother. He wanted and hug and he wanted to hold his hand and he wanted to hear his comforting voice. This Felix’s voice was not comforting. If anything, he was... scary. Ted flinched when Felix scoffed and sharply insisted he was okay.
“ Ah- Sorry- “ Ted choked out, barely able to spit out the simple word through his stutters. “ I - Sorry, if you’re okay, I believe you... “
Ted slowly grabbed the end of Felix’s sleeve, looking up at him with big, innocent eyes. His eyes looked as if they had never seen any horrors- it was almost a childish sparkle.
“ I’m sure you miss your brother... we can look for them together, if you want... “ Ted gave a shy little smile, his expression warm and gentle. “ We can find them... you and me. “
