Summary: Shuichi finds the scariest thing at Halloween has nothing to do with monsters or tricks.
Kokichi shows him that might not be such a bad thing.
Excerpt:
“But do you wanna be something else?” Kokichi asks head tilted back.
“I…” And that’s the question he really doesn’t have an answer to. A holiday all about being whatever you wanted to be, and he couldn’t come up with anything. Everything seemed too silly or too cool for someone like him to pull off.
Kokichi laughs. “Aww, Saihara-chan is so true to himself that he isn’t good at being anyone else.”
“I’m not sure that’s it. I just… couldn’t think of anything else. Guess I am just… boring.”
They fall into silence. Well, almost. Next to him, Shuichi can feel Ouma’s feet tapping against the wood and the faintest sound of humming over the light wind. The cool air seems to be doing its job of sobering him up. The overwhelming feeling of spinning and warmth had settled into an almost pleasant numb buzz.
Kokichi finally breaks the silence, his face and voice oddly blank, “What about me, Saihara-chan?”
“W-what do you mean?”
Kokichi’s head tilts, “Do you think my costume is boring?”
