上田城　Ueda castle

先週、長野地方の花見を兼ねて信州の城巡りに行ってきました。 訪問した信州上田城は、徳川との上田合戦で有名です。 上杉征伐を中止した徳川軍は、家康が指揮をとる東海軍と、 秀忠が指揮する中山道軍３万８０００とに別れ西行しました。 この中山道軍の行く手を阻んだのが上田城にこもる、真田昌幸、信繁親子です。 戦いの結果徳川軍は破れ、関が原の戦いに間に合いませんでした。 城は天守閣は無く、南北櫓に挟まった東虎口門と西櫓が残っています。 石積みと土塁で作られた高い城壁は一見です。

掛川城　Kakegawa castle

秀吉亡き後、石田三成らと対立した家康は、三成の同盟者上杉征伐に向かいます。 途中小山で三成の蜂起を知った家康は、同行の武将に味方にするかの賛否を問います。 その時いち早く賛同し、道中にある自分の掛川城を開放したのが山内一豊です。 一豊はこの功により後に土佐２１万石の大名となります。 今回はこの掛川城を訪問しました。 高い山の上に立つ美しい小城ですが、珍しいのは、復興天守閣であるのに、木造建築であるということです。 建築後十数年を経過しているため、内部は現存天主と同じ感覚を得られます。 また現存の二の丸御殿は昔の大名の生活がよく判り必見です。

小牧山城

浜松城

今回から、江戸幕府を築いた「徳川家康」に関係のある、東海の城々を巡ります。 最初は、家康生誕の地「岡崎城」です。 復興天守、コンクリート製ですが、外観はほぼ江戸時代の姿をとどめています。 今川義元が織田信長に討たれた桶狭間の戦い後、岡崎城に留まった家康は、 この城を中心に、三河（東愛知）の統一に向け力を注いでいく事になります。 珍しく、ここで家康の「しかみ像」に出会いました。なぜ岡崎城にあるのか不思議です。続きは次回「浜松城」で説明します。
