well fuck its been awhile.

the king in the north had been filled with a mixture of joy and anxiety the moment he knew that his old friend was coming for a visit to winterfell. david was now the seasoned king of misthaven, and for that robb couldn’t have been more proud. still, while this was a business meeting between two royals, it was much more than that. this would be the first time he was seeing the man since he married snow white, where he had to stand by idly with a fake smile and watch the man he loved once marry another. he wasn’t bitter, it was all politics, and snow was a lovely woman, still his mind often wandered to what could of been. a bright smile lights up the moment david rode in, and robb waited for them speak alone, boots crunching under the light snow that led into the private gardens of winterfell. “ you look good, david. ” robb comments, cobalt eyes gazing over at the fair-headed man, as they walked deeper into the garden. “ marriage and a daughter agree with you evidently. how are snow and emma? ”

nerves mixed with a sense of guilt seemed to fill the royal’s veins. sure, this was just a business meeting about trades this and that, but it was the first time in a long time that he’d see his first love. robb was his first, everything. even before he met snow, robb was the first person he truly fell for, and he fell hard for him. but where they lived, their respected families and kingdoms wouldn’t dare allow such a thing to happen. even though he truly loved his wife and his daughter, the pain that was given to him when he first said goodbye to robb was still there. and it seemed to intensify the moment he saw the other. and yet, there was also that light and airy feeling alongside it. that feeling of happiness, that warm feeling on his cheeks that brought color to them. all of it seemed to come back at full force. “i was just...going to say the same about you.” he said with that charming smile of his before he bowed his head slightly. “they’re good..wonderful actually. and what about you and your kin? how are they?”
