prompt 88: ‘after everything, i’d still choose you.’
it was so hard to catch your boyfriend. debuting in all 3 units of nct meant he barely had any free time, between dance practice, performances, fansigns, and filmings. you didn’t have it easy either, with your college entrance exams coming up, you were stressed out, studying till late at night.
that didn’t stop you from searching up mark’s name before you went to sleep though. you put yourself through torture as you read through allkpop speculating if ‘NCT MARK DATING RED VELVET YERI?’ you knew mark was the most loyal boy you’d ever met, but it still tugged at your heartstrings.
‘you up? i’m heading to the han river.’ the message from mark came in at 11.17pm, and you texted back quickly.
‘yeah, do you wanna meet?’ the both of you set up a meeting place quickly, and you pulled on a thick grey sweatshirt, and quickly left the house. it was a pretty warm night, compared to the freezing temperatures you’d had a few nights before. you spotted the familiar ramen blond hair, and the dark blue hoodie.
“mark!” he turned, his face hidden by a mask which he pulled off as he saw you. his face broke into a smile.
“y/n! i missed you so much.” he usually wasn’t one for skinship, but he pulled you into his chest, and you wrapped your arms around him.
“i brought food.” he gave you a bag of macdonalds, as the both of you walked.
“have i ever told you how much i love you?” you joked slightly, and the both of you took a seat, watching the lights of seoul reflect off the water. your head was on his shoulder, as you ate. the picture of yeri flashed in your head, and you abruptly stopped munching on your nuggets.
“i’m not that hungry.” you closed the box, sitting up, and mark shot you a concerned look.
“nuggets are your favourite, though. did you have a big dinner?” mark obviously knew something was going on, but chose not to press you for answers. he directed you a soft smile, and you could feel the words coming out before you could stop them.
“i’m so insecure, even though i know i don’t have any reason to be. you’re so busy, so we don’t get a lot of time together, and you’re usually surrounded by gorgeous girls, with glamorous figures, and oh god, i’m so nervous i’m going to get a text from you one day, ending this, because you found someone prettier and skinnier and just better than me.” this was a serious case of word vomit. the things that’d been weighing down your mind all escaped your lips without stopping. tears pricked at your eyes, and you looked down, not wanting to make eye contact with him.
“hey, hey. look at me, baby.” his fingers tilted up your chin, as your tears fell. he gently wiped away your tears, as he rubbed you on the back soothingly.
“you mean everything to me, y/n. i love you, you know that. i would never leave you, even through a thousand lifetimes, across millions of galaxies, i’d find you. i’d love you. you are so important to me, and i never want you to think you’re not enough for me, or some other shit like that. above all, after everything, i’d still choose you.”
