Well, 2 is 1/2 of 4. Take your final number, 8, and multiply it by 2. (Because 2 is the inverse of one half, and you're going backwards to solve)

Your x value is 16.

In problem 1, take 14 and divide it by 4.2. That should get you 3 1/3. Then take your value of 10 and divide it by 3 1/3.

Do the same for the other problems.

So the issue with problem 53 that threw me for a loop is the 4.2. I mean, I would make a fraction out of 4.2 / 14 and think nothing of it, but IIRC that’s something you’re Not Supposed to Do in math, and that’s where I had the WTF moment. So to conquer THAT, I set it up as an equation and multiplied everything by 10:

You could get rid of some of the zeroes there at the end, but x = 3.

Here’s a fun one, try 60.

I can’t do calculus. I’m good at math like this, but I took advanced math instead of trig or calculus in high school.

Well, let's turn .60 into 3/5, because Fractions.

5/3 x 3/1 = 15/3, or 5.

Then, we take 4/5 and multiply it by 1/5, which is 4/25

Right? I checked with a calculator, it came out as 16%, which is equal.
