So far Hongbin apologized 3 times for the consequences of a stupid (& taken oit of context) mistake.

One was the initial apology a day after.

Another apology followed soon after, because the hate didn't dim down.

Then came long ass hiatus. Not even being involved in the 8th anniversary stuff.

And Jelphy posting about him leaving...

And now the third apology... It wasn't even 48 hours ago.

It wasn't for the chat in itself. It was an indirect apology for leaving Vixx.

He didn't even say starlights. He said

"fans of Vixx"

As though saying

Starlight

would hurt him.

It probably did. Leaving this group

Probably did. You can tell me he's happy all he wants, but if he wanted out of Vixx, he would've canceled the contract the second Ravi did.

If he wanted out of Vixx and the hyungs hadn't been in the army, with limited resources, they would have fought for him and pleaded with him and jelphi.

And you can tell me all you want, but

hongbin didn't seem as happy as I saw him in older streams.

It's funny how Jelphy announced this at a time where 3/5 members are in the army & Ravi has business with groovlyn.

…or future fic writers (those who are working on something to post for the future OR working on in private) or those who have retired from fanfiction but have posted it in the past, thank you so much!

It doesn’t matter if the fic isn’t from the fandoms I don’t participate in or read, or if it’s pairings I don’t ship, or even if it’s gen fic and not shippy, thank you so much for your work!

You all have shared so much of yourself in your writing and we are blessed to have seen the work that has come from your heart. Even if you don’t think it’s your best work, or even if you don’t think it’s the best compared to others, you took the time to create this thing and share it to the world and for that you deserve all credit for making that time and courage to share it with us!

Even you authors who are working on things but haven’t posted them yet! You have made the decision to post things that are coming from your heart in the future and I will tell you SOMEONE out there will appreciate all that hard work you have put in and appreciate what you have to write. Thank you for making that decision to take that step with us.

And to you retired fic writers, thank you for sharing that work with us even if fic writing is not your speed anymore for whatever reason. Your works have been cherished by someone out there, even if that person is anonymous and did not comment, and you deserve to be acknowledged for letting us have the privilege to see that for however brief a time.

Tumblr added a bunch of tracking shit to share urls, so now ill teach you how to get rid of them

if you copy a url by sharing on the website, the link will look like this

getting rid of tracking in these is easy, just delete everything after the question mark and you are golden

in the case for the app, its slightly more complicated

first you have to delete at. that appears before tumblr(.)com the other tracking shit on this one has a lot more info, so please, clean app urls. after the first set of numbers, there's a / you have to delete everything after it

It makes me so sad when fanfiction writers come to me for writing advice, and they say something along the lines of “I write fanfic (and I’m trying to get into real writing too)”, “I’m a fanfiction writer and I plan to write original fiction someday but now is just not the right time for me”, or “I’m not a real writer but I write fanfic”

babes you don’t have to justify writing fanfiction to me. you also don’t need to tell me your plans to eventually write original fiction to be worthy of asking for writing advice.

Writing original fiction is not inherently better than writing fanfiction. Writing fanfiction is real writing. If you want to write original fiction too, great! If writing fanfiction is all you want to do, that is wonderful as well.

Do what makes you happy and be proud in the knowledge that writing isn’t easy, and you’re actually doing it!

Fanfiction Authors: HEADS UP

(Non-authors, please RB to signal boost to your author friends!)

An astute reader informed me this morning that one of my fics (Children of the Future Age) had been pirated and was being sold as a novel on Amazon:

(And they weren't even creative with their cover design. If you're going to pirate something that I spent a full year of my life writing, at least give me a pretty screenshot to brag about later. Seriously.)

I promptly filed a DMCA complaint to have it removed, but I checked out the company that put it up -- Plush Books -- and it looks like A LOT of their books are pirated fic. They are by no means the only ones doing this, either -- the fact that """publishers""" can download stories from AO3 in ebook format and then reupload them to Amazon in just a few clicks makes fic piracy a common problem. There are a whole host of reasons why letting this continue is bad -- including actual legal risk to fanfiction archives -- but basically:

IF YOU ARE A FANFIC AUTHOR WITH LONG AND/OR POPULAR WORKS, PLEASE CHECK AMAZON TO SEE IF YOUR STORIES HAVE BEEN PIRATED.

You can search for your fics by title, or by text from the description (which is often just copied wholesale from AO3 as well). If you find that someone has stolen your work and is selling it as their own, you can lodge a DMCA complaint (Amazon.com/USA site; other countries have different systems). If you haven't done this before, it's easy! Here's a tutorial:

HOW TO FILE A COPYRIGHT COMPLAINT FOR STOLEN WORK ON AMAZON.COM:

First, go to this form. You'll need to be signed into your Amazon account.

Select the radio buttons/dropdown options (shown below) to indicate that you are the legal Rights Owner, you have a copyright concern, and it is about a pirated product.

Enter the name of your story in the Name of Brand field.

In the Link to the Copyrighted Work box, enter a link to the story on AO3 or whatever site your work is posted on.

In the Additional Information box, explain that you are the author of the work and it is being sold without your permission. That's all you really need. If you want, you can include additional information that might be helpful in establishing the validity of your claim, but you don't have to go into great detail. You can simply write something like this:

I am the author of this work, which is being sold by [publisher] without my permission. I originally published this story in [date/year] on [name of site], and have provided a link to the original above. On request, I can provide documentation proving that I am the owner of the account that originally posted this story.

In the ASIN/ISBN-10 field, copy and paste the ID number from the pirated copy's URL. You'll find this ten-digit number in the Amazon URL after the word "product," as in the screenshot below. (If the URL extends beyond this number, you can ignore everything from the question mark on.) Once this number has been added, Amazon will pull the product information automatically and add it to the complaint form, so you can check the listing title and make sure it's correct.

Finally, add your contact information to the relevant fields, check the "I have read and accept the statements" box, and then click Submit. You should receive an email confirmation that Amazon has received the form.

Please share this information with your writer friends, keep an eye out for/report pirated works, and help us keep fanfiction free and legally protected!

NOTE: All of the above also applies to Amazon products featuring stolen artwork, etc., so fan artists should check too!
