I've not gone away!
I've been starting a new online class and switching jobs; so adulting has been chewing up my life while launching another muse. After this week I should be more available at a crawl rather than very little. I love you all, I haven't forgotten, and Peggy will kick my butt if I don't do something soon.

“Excuse me…” the aide stated as their eyes were wide and shocked as hell as they looked between Peg and Howard in the meeting that they were in, “I do not mean to interrupt this.. but the person stated that ‘He didn’t give a damn what Stark was wanting done… she’s dying’”
Howard narrowed his eyes, looking at the aide, realizing who the aide must have meant. “Was it Colonel Dugan? What was he meaning by shes dying?”
The Aide looked over at Peg then Howard and bit her lip, “… They’re at the hospital. Something happened to his granddaughter was all the nurse would tell me after they pulled the man from the phone who wanted to do nothing but cuss up a storm.
Howard looked at Peg, his eyes wideneing. Callista. It had to be Callie. Would that witch of a woman Sean married actually try to kill their only daughter? He had seen how twisted the woman was at the Commando get togethers of those left…
“You go. I’ll take care of everything here.” he assured Peg, “Go for the both of us.”
it's painfully strange to look at howard sometimes; to see the oil ink hair turn snow while her own curls are vibrant and her skin elastic and young. howard seemed less alarmed, though he was hardening like flint slowly and surely despite the words from maria that it was really 'all right'.
the conversation about the eventual conversion of the uss hull froze when the aide walked in, her expression a touch gentler in contrast to stark's. however it became sharp eyed and dangerous as she realized the conversation. she turned to howard to exchange looks, "don't you dare add that bar when i'm not around to the blue prints."
a soft joke to try and break up the horror of the idea of a little girl is harmed. she's quick to move on heels, jaunty and bright with clacking. "come, timothy. i've my id and i do expect you to drive like you did during the war..."
Her heart pounded in her throat; her damned throat and she swore she shouldn’t be able to breathe. And somehow, she did, watching the blue flecked eyes widen and narrow. His face was only a shade harder to read than … then 70 years ago. So hard to read him during battle but outside of it? He was book and his heartbeat was ink. And he seemed to believe … something else. That there was another Peggy Carter who had lived (still lives?) and she… she was…
Head shakes, keeping herself awake than refusing to answer his question. “Just barely. At the least how I got… how I believe I got here. Let me see your bracelet. I need to test something while I explain.”
But oh, oh, he was still stubborn and she knew matching bracelets or not – this was still her Steve. She follows, part of it wanting to make sure he doesn’t fade, the other to keep herself awake. “This … was the sort of feeling I had when they let me out of the chamber. Not quite but close.”
Sweat prickled along his hairline but Steve tried to refrain from any other forms of panic, knowing the state wouldn’t allow for a clear enough mind to plan a way out. He could understand the need to monitor THIS Peggy given they already had a Peggy of this time period but why did they bring HIM here? It puzzled him and not having answers bothered him like nothing else could. Pausing in his exploration, he held out his arm with the bracelet for her to check it or do what she needed to do. It could be a trap but somehow he didn’t think it would be. ❝I held up my end. How’s ‘bout you explain your end now?❞ He gave her a pointed look, hope bubbling within him but he attempted to swallow it back down. Peggy lived her entire life WITHOUT HIM and now rested in a hospital bed, shifting back and forth between remembering him or not. The bad days were always some of the hardest ones. ❝This has to be a trick or a test or –❞
how long had HYDRA wanted to capture steve rogers? peggy doesn't recall zola ever speaking about it though it haunted his watery eyes. peggy had known it. or... or had she? doubt was planted, and it never had been there before. all those memories were real, bright, and left healing scars. ... weren't they?
her fingers go to the braclet, trying to ignore the expression on his face. wounded dog that would turn into howling wolf; he acted as if he had seen a ghost, acted like she was old and wizened and no long for this world. "in October of 1946, i was on a joint mission with the CIA to Yugoslavia. it was believed a remaining HYDRA cell had snuck past Prime Minister Tito in their attempt to hide from Stalin and LEVIATHAN." there's sudden pause, her muscles bunching as she tries to pry the bracelet and finding only some give. but not enough. "i was captured."
if steve looked in the files about PEGGY CARTER he would see the dates were true. but Peggy came back in late november, healthy as a horse.
"none of this is a test for you, STEVE. it's not."

“well, no. no, i didn’t. the idea of mongolian beef seemed … bland.”
“That’s exactly why I like it, I can eat as much as I want and my stomach won’t feel heavy.”
“but bell peppers are light, though admit the egg is heavy.”
“dinner with daddy, i promise the baby sitter is fantastic, love.”
“Well in that case, forget these two” Mary slid off the bed and walked over to the wardrobe and pulled out a red strapless red cocktail dress “Wear this instead and who is the baby sitter?”
“do you know something your father isn’t telling me?” a smile rests on lips, “one of your favorite people.”

“Thanks but… I think I’ll pass this time.” Jack replies glaring at her food. “Not a big fan of rice nor eggs… or chicken, mushrooms and bell peppers.” he laughs and shakes his head. “I love mongolian beef and spring rolls… did you bring those?”
“well, no. no, i didn't. the idea of mongolian beef seemed ... bland.”
