So what I’m getting at is that the creators either don’t know the difference between race and ethnicity, so they think being a latina was a whole other race they gotta continuously emphasize by making her biracial-mixed(yes they emphasized she is mixed both with the stupid werewolf/human plot and she is latina). Or her mom is just an ambiguous brown woman.

Either way, I am tired of these people making Black characters as the main leads, but they have to be mixed or have different backgrounds of some sort so they have little to do with their African American culture

Because it is only then they decide it’s acceptable to give them a personality other than “sassy black girl”

Her dad is black and Haitian Creole, her mom is black and Mesoamerican. It hasn’t really been developed as her mom was only just introduced in the most recent episode. Clawdeen isn’t African American, she’s African LatAm/afro-latina. That’s her background, and it’s a part of the story and her identity as a character. That being said, they’re still barely doing anything. There is so much more they SHOULD be doing and as the show develops, hopefully they get their shit together and listen to what issues people have with it.

There are a lot of issues with what could be done better and what’s really poorly done, but the show has been running for a month and the movie has only been out for a bit. I’m really hoping that they introduce more black characters, especially African and African American characters. Even in g1, almost all POC characters were from latam or indigenous American. There are so many African monsters and legends that deserve to be brought into the story, instead of just Cleo and Nefera being the African rep but being light skinned Egyptians. I’ve submitted suggestions to Mattel Ideas and complained to Mattel’s social impact department ([email protected]). Is it going to do shit? Probably not, but if more people do it then maybe! In order to make change we need to start forwarding complaints to somewhere where the dumbasses at corporate can read it.

In G1, every character was flat. They had one or two interests and never got the attention and writing they deserved to have genuine character arcs and grow as a character, not as much as they’re all having in the animated show now. The showrunners and writers are really communicative on Twitter and have a board of fanart and comments from the MH community in their writer’s room. They’re listening and getting involved in the conversation.

worst part of the mario movie is gonna be right before the third act when they arbitrarily have mario and luigi fall out and luigis gonna say "thats not very super of you, mario" and walk away into the rain and mario is gonna be like "luigi wait" and then toad is gonna shake his head sadly and follow luigi and yoshi is gonna be the only one still there and mario is gonna be like "can you believe those guys" and yoshi will just look at him like 😕 and mario will be like "yeah... yeah youre right" then its gonna hard cut to like, a tonally completely opposite scene of bowser freaking out about an aspect of his plan that is experiencing delays because somebody accidentally stomped on the goomba who was in charge of it and that will be the only actual reference to the way mario works except for jokes about mushrooms and fire flowers until the finale when mario starts swinging bowser by the tail in the final fight and then luigi grabs on and starts helping too and they both nod with the dreamworks face

If I may add, as an ADHD person if you insult (even jokingly) something I enjoy, I will no longer enjoy that thing as much. Every time I watch that show you called cringe I remember that you did that. You said the writing was unfunny, so now I don’t laugh at the jokes as much, even alone, and I feel like I shouldn’t enjoy it anymore if it’s bad. (And then I also believe you think I’m unfunny and my sense of humor is just bad) So I have to rationalize “Ok I know this part is awkward but I like it a little sometimes” in my head to justify my enjoyment, and that just makes the whole experience less fun. I’ll never express strong interest in something around you again. 

Sharing hyperfixations is a VULNERABLE act of trust, and if it goes badly, we just go right back to being ashamed of being happy.
