my tell: if my beds made that day.
Dear MDD,
I am not you,
you are not me.
We aren’t some Romeo&Juliet wannabe.
Eventually I will break free,
from the darkness you cause me.
I wish you well, you served your purpose but now it’s time.
I’m not the same girl that your grip could keep in line.
So this is goodbye for now,
you’ve used all the energy that i’ll allow.
With peace and love, fuck off. 🫶🏽

Who am I
Who am I if I can’t get by.
Who am I if I can’t fight.
Who am I if I can’t fly.
Who am I if I can’t choose right.

Treasure
by me
I checked in with myself for the first time in a long time, it was like a breath of fresh air after a panic attack.
A second felt like forever as soon as i’m washed over with emotions like a tsunami that’s been waiting to submit to its own weight.
Weirdly, I find peace in the chaos.
Just for a second I let my heartbeat steady as the dense waves carry me through the ocean of uncharted emotions.
Suddenly i’m falling faster than gravity should allow as i’m consumed by the dark aggressive push and pull of the ocean, forcing me to come closer to the floor where I see it..
The box.
My box.
It hold my deepest fears, darkest secrets and most impactful insecurities.
It almost looks treasurable to those who are ignorant of its contents.
The trauma that almost took me lays in this box, that I pulled all my strength together to build and bury.
It greets me, like a flower welcomes the sunlight, it needs me to survive.
I stare down at my box, it’s been a while since i’ve had to confront it.
Knowing that it’s unstable state couldn’t be left untouched, I open my heart back up to it. Letting the contents resonate again within my memories and soul.
This time is different, this time I approached her with authenticity and love for the hurt that I trapped for too long. I welcomed my sense of self back and promised her this time I wouldn’t abandon her. I finally lay her down to rest. I resurface and it’s like I was able to breath for the first time, the air filled my soul with the power of a tornado. Allowing me to control my chaos and live in the eye of the storm. I’m finding my peace.
Mirror Mirror
by me
I look in the mirror and i’m chocked by what I see.
I look in the mirror and the reflection staring back doesn’t feel like me.
Her eyes are wiped of all glee,
She bares trauma scars to the third degree.
I can’t help but wonder who did this to me?
Realization
The feeling slowly crept over me like waves on a shore, but not on a warm sunny day. The motion was forceful and sudden, like all air from my lungs were commanded out at once.
It finally happened.
The emotions i’ve buried, burnt and belittled to stay trapped in the back of my mind finally broke free, but it’s to be determined if they broke me.
Tears now threaten to spill if given even 3 seconds to be alone with my thoughts, all the trauma through ought the years flowing back to me like they’ve been held captive by the tsunami that is my mind.
I stand there frozen scrambling to make sense of the chaos but it’s no help, by the time i’m able to come to my senses another wave consumes and my thoughts are consumed by darkness.
I haven’t been here in a while, it’s almost nostalgic to be with these emotions again.
The most frustrating part being playing middle man with my mind. Juggling the ease of self destruction and the glory of self preservation. I’ve lived too much, grown too far to allow myself to wallow in the depths of my mind.
So why does the thought seducingly dance in my conscious like an itch that needs to be scratched.
Part of me thinks we’re not deserving of the ladder, to see and be the good, for destruction and hurt have followed us every time we start over.
Could it be me? Is this how it’s meant to be?
I refuse to give in but i’d be lying if i said the temptation wasn’t strong.
“Happy Birthday “
Poem by Me
I’m 21 and drained of fun,
i was once… when I was young.
You’ll understand more,
once I tell you why my knees consistently buckle to the floor.
The oldest of five,
my only job was to survive.
I wasn’t a 6th grader who learned to live, laugh and love,
I was focusing on how to mold myself to fit like a glove.
Many wore me,
all stealing my glee.
I thought to myself..
well this is how it must be.
Being told i’m too much,
my alternative personality became my crutch.
I battled long enough to take flight,
however it would be my mind that talked me into forgetting my own light.
I did what they taught us in school,
I followed all the rules.
I told people, I asked for help, I reached out.
But no one reacted seriously to my self doubt.
It left me feeling like my heart was experiencing a never ending drought.
I had enough and wanted out.

I’m here now writing this so that’s how that went…
..now I look back and regret how much hateful energy I spent.
Slowly but hopefully I move forward because I found a reason to stay.
It didn’t come from a mythical man who told me to pray.
It came from a voice within myself that made me sway.
I swore not to live another day,
but it told me life was like clay,
you need to be led astray,
to ultimately delay,
the growth that is coming my way.
after much dismay,
it’s my time today,
to watch my life back on replay,
finally understanding my almost decay would have stopped me from meeting my long coming hooray.
Happy 22nd birthday.
Feeling absolutely broken and betrayed by my own self. It’s a whole different kind of pain when you slowly watch yourself walk through the chaos that is your life. Hiding but never escaping, avoiding but never forgetting. It follows like a shadow desperate for company. I want nothing to do with the destruction that is my own reflection on my best days that are masked by what I choose to show others. Everything happening at once, most of it my fault because of my love for unconscious self destruction. The time without my shadow is bright and easy but I know it never last long before i’m back to cleaning up the mess thats caught up. It’s almost foolish to think that it ever truly disappears and gets better but i’ve already seen the change. It’s small but it’s there, it’s hard to move forward but I do. Because I love more the piece of me that believes in the good. I so desperately want to be the good, and spread the love but the biggest challenge is believing that I am actually capable of it myself. So we get up and try again tomorrow.
Why are we afraid of the things we want the most?
From childhood, we all originally wanted the same thing. Stability in our home life and our relationships. Reciprocated genuine love in our relationships with other’s and ourselves. Emotional availability from loved ones. Simplicity, life without constant twists and turns. We want consistency. We didn’t want to have to walk on eggshells around other’s emotions, we didn’t want to feel misunderstood with our feelings, and we most certainly didn’t want to feel as if we had to seek validation from those we would never receive that from. We didn’t get to choose our blueprint. But we do get to choose how we grow from it. As adults, we often end up taking the fear we held as a child with us into our adulthood. Even if we don’t even remember having this fear, let alone keeping it around. It affects our relationships, it affects our home and financial stability, and it affects the relationship we’re meant to have with ourselves. We often times, in one way shape or form, expect things to not work out for us…so we anticipate that in every relationship and opportunity that comes our way. And this fear can stem from issues with rejection, abandonment, commitment, etc. When we go into things with that subconscious mindset, they do tend to seem as if they don’t work out for us. Because even if they do, we will self sabotage to support the underlying fear of things simply just not working out for us in the way we’d like them to. If our fear doesn’t find us in situations, we create them for validation within ourselves. It’s like when you walk into a dark room, you anticipate something hiding in the corner, so often times our brains create strong theories as to what’s in the areas we can’t physically see and deem as safe. So we begin to imagine all the things we’re most afraid of in a physical form, only to turn on the light and realize there was nothing there to begin with. We made sure our own fears were validated, even though that ended up hurting us for no reason. We look for our greatest fears in what we want the most, and if it doesn’t show itself like we expect, we create it ourselves. Because our brains will also be hyper aware of what we fear the most, and since all we want is to feel validated, we learned to depend on ourselves for that. And too much of anything, is always a bad thing. So do yourself a favor, and the next time you feel as if the end is coming, ask yourself, is my own response to these situations what’s been creating this problem all along? You aren’t constantly rejected, you take it that way. You aren’t constantly abandoned, you take it that way. Not everything is a big and scary commitment, you take it that way. And when you take it that way, you act that way…you manifest your own biggest fears. And if anything, that should be comforting, knowing you can change you. -t
Take a second and realize that you don’t have any problems, you’re simply facing a challenge that your mind, body and would are more than capable of simplifying and realizing that the solution is to just live.
