I feel like people forget that the Kirkwall Chantry was the place where Anders found out they lobotomized his boyfriend for the main purpose of capturing Anders. Honestly I don’t know how he made it six years WITHOUT blowing that place up

talking to cullen and elthina about ser alrik and not coming out of it an explosion apologist is insane to me. that anders waited 3 whole ass years to do it is a test of patience in of itself. if that were me i would have dropped an actual like straight up nuclear missile on these jokers.

I didn't need any convincing that Meredith was already planning to annul the Circle before Anders destroyed the chantry, but I just randomly talked to Ser Karras in Act 3 after completing Best Served Cold, and he said "the knight-commander has sent to Val Royeaux for the right of annulment". Annulment was already going to happen without Anders doing a single thing. If he hadn't destroyed the chantry and caused all that chaos, the templars would have just slaughtered all the mages in their cells anyway. I assumed that was the case already but hearing an NPC literally confirm it is wild.

This is why I don't understand why Anders discourse was ever a thing.

In any other context we would unilaterally cheer for a character who fought back even knowing it would make him a villain - yes, he knew other people would get hurt but it was going to happen anyway; at least this way everyone had a fair chance and not just the chosen ones - but some of y'all really couldn't understand someone fighting back against the genocide of their people (remember this was less than ten years after the slaughter at Kinloch Hold) because he was (checks notes) slightly annoying about wanting equal rights?

And don't @ me about his relationship with Fenris because he was 50% of the problem.

But if not for kneeling, why kneeling shaped? I think I've painted him pining and yearning, but I really wanted to paint him somewhat at peace with the final decisions, even a tad bit satisfied? and with self-acceptance, because ultimately he is a man who does kneel. (in my head canon anyways) I've also painted him kneeling here. Possible missed detail after the jump~
