headcanon corner - shouto todoroki celebrating his significant other’s birthday

shouto is definitely unsure about what kind of plans he should be making for when their birthday rolls around the corner. as a child, his own was never much of a huge celebration for obvious reasons. his u.a. classmates would be the first to throw him an actual party.
his special day was no different than any other until he got a bit older. fuyumi would bake him the same cake every year after that; a fluffy white one topped off strawberries, something natsou would always compare to his hair.
so, if they’re somebody that would prefer a simpler means of celebrating, shouto wouldn’t have too much trouble. he’d still consult their friends for suggestions and some help, but it would be something nice and small between them two.
maybe just a birthday dinner and a dessert that he attempted to make for them under his sister’s watch or even the very reluctant guidance of bakugou.
his s/o wanting something a bit grander wouldn’t be a problem either! it just might frazzle him a bit more… luckily, everyone is more than willing to pitch in and help him out with planning the party that they deserve.
it would originally be a surprise until shouto accidentally gives it away to them by obviously asking for an opinion on a decoration.
on the topic of presents, he’s going to ask for advice from everyone close to them. and honestly, he’s not afraid to even ask them themselves about what they would like.

Prompt 3 and 17: Wearing each others clothes,“You’re so cute when you blush.” (700 words)

It was hard to catch Tamaki in a short sleeved shirt, unless it was his school uniform. He was most comfortable in his long sleeves and jackets, the occasional turtle neck, and of course, his hero costume which kept him safe and his body concealed from view.
He was an insecure person, and sometimes that meant his body. No one could see his weak posture and his shaking knees from under his cloak. With it on he was Suneater.
His clothes were comfortable and old, worn soft from years of use and laundry days. He didn't shop much and any new clothes were usually gifts.
Tamaki's style wasn't anything special, he liked dark colors with not many patterns or logos, something neutral so he didn't stand out. Something to make him feel normal and blend in. But once he saw you in his clothes it opened his eyes to a whole new outlook on the simple fabric.
A plain black long sleeve shirt was suddenly much more important to him now that it was on your frame. Two days ago when it was sitting in his hamper he hadn't given it a second thought, but seeing you now, lounging on the couch with his shirt on had him speechless, his eyes wide and palms sweaty, balled up in loose, shaky fists. A fluttery sensation swept through his stomach and chest, rising up in his throat as a low whine escaped past the clench of his teeth.
He scurries over to you, not answering when you greet him with a charming smile and a familiar 'Tamaki'. Your voice was like a soothing salve for his nerves, but it didn't help the growing red hue invading his face.
Sure, he got embarrassed pretty easily but this kind of blushing-embarrassed was different than his so-embarrassed-his-stomach-hurt feeling he usually got in social situations. This kind of humiliation made him feel flushed and sweaty like he'd just performed a song on stage in front of a thousand people. Or like he was high in the clouds in a hot air balloon, dizzy from the thin air and flushed with the cold blowing across his face.
Except right now his feet were on the ground and he was nearly swaying with how bright his blush was getting.
"Um-- that's my shirt." Is all he says, sharp eyes glued to the long sleeves.
You blink up at him, fiddling with the phone in your hand, "Oh! Yeah.. It is. Were you planning on wearing it or something..?" You ask, pinching the shirt in question and tugging it away from your chest for a second.
"..No.." Tamaki admits. "I don't really.. Plan my outfits."
"Oh, cool." Your lips curve upwards, relief evident in your expression. You go back to your device, probably scrolling through social media.
He continued to stand there, shifting his weight between his feet, opening his mouth like he had anymore to say, but it stays like that, open and silent. He probably looked like a gaping fish.
You pat the spot beside you, "Do you want to sit?"
Tamaki sits without a word. He's stiff, for once he isn't slouching, his back straight as an arrow and his hands neatly settled in his lap, knees pressed together to take up as little space as possible.
He feels like he's burning up from the inside, flames licking at his cheeks and making him unbelievably sweaty. God, he's so gross.
You chuckle, turning your attention to him once more, "It's just a shirt, 'Maki. If it makes you uncomfortable I can go change."
Tamaki relaxes at the nickname, shaking his head quickly, still avoiding eye contact. "No, no, it's-- 's fine. I just.. You surprised me, I wasn't expecting to see you in my.. My.." he swallows thickly, his mouth dry and voice low and shaky. "My shirt."
"I'm sorry, I should have asked. Are you sure you don't want me to change?" The warmth of your hand suddenly pressing on his bicep seeps through his clothes. Tamaki shivers, ears erect and as red as his cheeks. He shakes his head a second time. It takes him a second to gather himself but he eventually does, turning his head in your direction, though his eyes stay to the side, safely looking at the ground.
"No, It's okay. I, uh, I like it." Tamaki fights the urge to bury his face in his hands.
"You're cute when you blush." You gently tease, hand sliding up his arm and over his shoulder. In an affectionate manner you squeeze the nape of his neck and play with the fluffy hair at the back of his head with careful combing.
"Oh, stop.." He whimpers, giving in and hiding his face behind his hands, trying to smother his blush in his palms.

Prompt 7: First Kiss (600 words)

Fumikage was nervous for his first kiss with you. It would be his first kiss ever, and he wasn't all that sure if it was the same for you.
Fumikage did not have much of an issue with physical affection, giving or receiving. He was more of a reclusive person, private and happy to be left to his own devices, but that did not mean he was opposed to skinship like hugs and handholding. He quite enjoyed linking pinkies under tables, pressing a hand into your lower back when in a crowded area, and so on.
But kissing.. So far it has not been something to look forward to.
The problem was him. Fumikage wasn't like you. He had no lips to kiss, but a beak that made up the majority of his face.
It's not like he could give you a casual peck without it being too literal. He's had dark thoughts about accidentally pecking you in the eye or scratching you with the tip of his beak. He cared far too much about his beloved to ever try something like that and potentially cause you harm.
He could tell you were thinking about it too, your eyes straying to his mouth when he spoke, tracing the sharp edges curiously.
Fumikage tilts his head, watching the way your irises follow his moving beak. "What is it?" He asks plainly.
"I'm thinking." is all you say.
His eyes narrow in thought, "About?" He probes.
You were sitting in the darkness of his room, a private place he allowed only you to enter. You are his precious exception, a complimentary light to his absolute darkness. The soft beam of the purple string lights casts pretty shards of color on your skin and hair, and the black light lamps made your teeth glow violet. It was peculiar as well as dazzling to watch them disappear and appear behind your lips.
You shift on the bed, fiddling with the dark, heavy blankets. "Kissing you."
Fumikage feels a burst of warmth explode across his face, his feathers puffing and ruffling all along his head.
"R-really?" He murmurs, clearing his throat.
You nod and he nods back. "Yeah. Do you want to kiss me, fumi?" The nickname never fails to warm his heart, it was childish how happy it made him. Something just for his beloved to call him.
"Well, of course I do." He admits after a couple quiet moments of hesitation. "I just don't know how."
A lovely smile spreads across your cheeks, "that's okay. Do you want me to kiss you instead? I want to try."
He appreciated the open mindedness you so casually presented him, the options and solutions he wasn't brave enough to figure out himself.
Who would want to kiss a beak? It's hard and way too firm to meaningfully kiss.
"Right now..?" Fumikage asks softly, realizing you were already drifting closer to his face, your eyes half lidded and gorgeous.
"Yes, is that okay?" Your breath breezes across his face and his feathers twitch. His hands are gripping his knees so hard he's positive his knuckles are white, legs folded crisscross comfortably.
"..Y-Yes." He utters, his own dark eyes drifting half shut, nerves making sweat prickle under his arms.
"Okay." You whisper, gentle fingers raising to comb through his feathers.
His breath catches when your lips sweetly press against the tip of his beak. Fumikage feels hot all over, eyes squeezed shut.
You kiss him again, the side of his beak this time where his mouth opens, and tight after that pecking his cheek, lips meeting warm, soft downy feathers.
You pull away and he blinks his eyes open. His hand reaches for yours, holding your palm against the side of his face. "It doesn't have to be that big of a deal, sweetheart." You murmur. He nods once, blissful. It was so simple.
"It's just another way to express our love to one another."
"I suppose it is." Fumikage agrees while he nuzzles his beak into the crook of your neck.

before anything, he makes sure that you’re always receiving affection from him, physical or not. you’ll soon realize that he’s quite good with his words; sweet names, thoughtful compliments, and reassuring encouragement.
he talks about you all the time. from his family to acquaintances at the agency, they all know how highly he thinks of you.
taishiro just wants to be able to give you as much comfort as he can and that his words have the same effect as a big warm hug would.
if there’s a particular reason or specific event for your phobia, he’s ready to listen if you ever want to talk about it and never pushes if otherwise.
when you’re ready to start taking steps to be able to cuddle comfortably, he’s absolutely over the moon, of course, but also isn’t going to ever put pressure on you to do more than you can handle.

he’s not at all concerned about the lack of snuggles or anything like that. he’s worried about you thinking that you’ve made him miss out on something.
keigo just wants you to feel happy and comfortable around him.
as a man with insecurities and doubt stemming from his rocky past (and present), he couldn’t be more pleased to have you by his side.
he has a whole collection of sappy nicknames for you and can only hope they hold the equivalency of him tightly wrapping his arms around you and caressing your hair.
finding that you’re wanting to try to work your way up to cuddling, keigo’s first reaction is to tell you how proud he is of you. he’s more than ready to support you through your phobia and help you take the steps to reach your desired level of physical affection.
