July 25th: The Last Supper

This was our going away celebration dinner at a nice seafood restaurant in Cannes. We had a free AND delicious three course meal with wine :) 

It was bittersweet- I was sad to be leaving all the wonderful people I met behind, but I was looking forward to the travels ahead with my mom and brother!

July 24th: One of my last day's on the beach :(

I'll miss this beach forever! Next time I'm coming back in full force with tubes, boogie boards, and goggles.

FOOD at le College International

The cafeteria at le College was a little different than most college dining centers. We had a salad bar for lunch and dinner, but the main dish was served family style to each table. Since it was served this way, there was a vegetarian table where all students with dietary restrictions had to sit. 

Since I was gluten free, they served me my own plate twice a day, everyday. For the most part the food was very good. It was usually lacking some salt and pepper, but I couldn't complain. They even made me a gluten/dairy/egg free crepe! ^_^

Hotel de Ville

This is Paris' city hall. The city's politicians work in this large and historic building. It's usually not open for public tours, but we got lucky! It's a beautiful (un-airconditioned) building where they welcome many international politicians. Obama once stood at that podium!

So the only thing this has to do with my trip is that the French loved Amy Winehouse- at least her music. One night I sat on the beach while some people played guitar. To my happy surprise, they played a bunch of Amy :)

July 19th: Paris by Bus

Right off the plane from Nice, we got onto a huge tour bus and saw much of Paris through a window. It wasn't ideal for taking pictures, but we did get to see a lot in a short period of time. In the second to last picture you can see my friend Hailee biting her nails :P 

I had a lot of fun trying to take double exposures through the bus window. However, there are better pictures to come!

We drove past the Catacombs, the Jardin de Tuileries, across the Seine, past the the Tour Eiffel, around the bastille monument, and finally to our hotel.

July 17th: Les Plages Electroniques: Bass Music

My third and final festival :( What an amazing experience. The stand-outs this week were Gramatik and Pendulum featuring MC Verse. I say this every week, but again, it was AMAZING. Toward the end of Pendulum, he got everyone to crouch on the ground, and nearly everyone in the crowd did it (except for a group of people directly in front of me). It was very impressive. 

This week I went with my three friends- Maddie, Sanan, and Jenna. Elles sont tres jolies, non? :) I MISS THEM ALREADY!

July 16th: Nighttime pique-nique

Who knew it could be so hard to find a functioning bottle opener in the land of wine? I ended up pushing the cork through with a knife. For the first few pixie cups I had to pour with the knife in to keep the cork down... We had to get really creative trying to eat and drink on this rock-isthmus thing. Thankfully we all made it back safely!

July 15th: Lebanese Restaurant

I cannot for the life of me figure out what this restaurant was called, but it was pretty good! Me and a small group of American's walked to this restaurant from the college for dinner. It was right along the beach, along with plenty of other restaurants.

The decorum was amazing- the walls were lined with mirrors and everything else was covered in embroidered blue upholstery and pillows. Needless to say it was a beautiful restaurant, but I can't say as much about the service. The place was practically empty, but the 6 of us were there for 3 HOURS! 

Once we finally got our food, it was all pretty tasty. And there was a belly dancer! After her first performance she pulled all of us up and got us to dance :)

July 14th: Bastille Day

This is France's Independence day- just another reason for us to sit on the beach and watch fireworks. A large group of American's and I went out to watch the fireworks on the beach across from the college. If we would have gone downtown to watch, they would have been a lot more impressive, but we love our beach :)
