The Table 10/04/2015 Nothing makes us happier than cooking together and sharing a meal with friends! Don't get me wrong, we love eating out, but creating a dish and seeing guests go back for seconds is so rewarding. There something special about bringing folks together at the table whether it's your dining room or your outdoor table. Great conversation, laughs, and the opportunity to just linger over a home cooked meal is what we treasure. Now that temps are cooling down, we decided to have family and friends over for movies under the stars a couple of weeks ago. We had a projector and our screen was just a mattress cover tacked to the deck. Easy and inexpensive! We even had an antipasti platter set up on the deck before the movie and later our cat Tony helped himself to some cheese. A good time was had by all! Last night My husband and I were cooking up a storm! George made an incredible Chicken soup using some our homegrown Russian Kale and dried Porcini Mushrooms from a friend of ours. Next week's lunches are set! I made a pasta dish that was inspired by one of my favorite chefs Marcus Samuelsson. The dish is finished with Arugula and my own adds of country bacon and Lemon Thyme form our garden. Even though we no longer have the abundance of our Summer garden, Our Kale and herbs continue to thrive! You don't have to spend a lot of money to create fun events and restaurant quality dishes. So be adventurous, try a recipe, have friends over, and gather around the table. It 's moments like these that fill the soul!
