breathe!!
Being that this week is one of the lighter weeks, I’m using it to get ahead on the work for the next couple of weeks that way I have the time to concentrate all my energy onto the upcoming exams this month. Choking down the nerves for the next peds exam I am trying to stay positive and work my hardest! This week we have 1 day off for Easter break. I plan on enjoying Friday with some friends and taking a break from school work. It’s important to step away from the stress and the work for a day to yourself or some time with friends!! This semester is flying by! That just means on semester closer to our BSN (:

and we’re done!!! thank you dupont for all the opportunities and experience you gave us!!🤍
Catching up
It has been an overwhelming past couple of weeks to say the least. Between two exams back to back, studying for them from sun up to sun down and then having a horrible reaction to my second round of the COVID vaccine was a lot to take on at once. I’m thankful that I did well on both exams and I was able to quickly get over the side effects that I was experiencing. For the next two weeks I plan on taking the time I need to relax, and get ahead on upcoming work that way I can focus on my next exam with less pressure of there being two in a row. Nursing school is definitely not easy and some days it’ll get the very best of you, but it is always important to stay focused, take time to rest, stay hydrated and ALWAYS find time to do something fun. Thats what keeps me going.Â
First Day of Clinicals
Today we had our first on site clinical at Dupont Children’s Hospital. I am on the Cardiac step down unit. I had the opportunity to work with / shadow the RN over her patients for the day. As much as it is heart breaking to see such a small child in such critical care, I loved every bit of being there. I loved having part in doing whatever I could to help the children on this floor. Whether that was holding them, rocking them and making them more comfortable. Keeping track of their vitals, playing with them, or putting on Moana and just sitting with them to make them feel close to someone. I feel it is the little things and the small smiles you get that makes being a nurse all worth it. As I know the reality of being a nurse is having both very hard days and very good days. I look forward to the many years I have in me of doing what I can to help those who need it most. Today opened my eyes even more to the passion that I hold in being a health care worker. I can’t wait.Â
Day One
Today starts the very first day of the spring semester. To say that I’m overwhelmed and stressed would be an understatement. The first week/weeks are always the most overwhelming. There is information being thrown at you from all different directions from multiple classes and it can all get to be a lot. I sit here staring at my laptop as if I had never left. Winter break was over within a blink of an eye and I’m right back to my desk and my long days of studying. I know this semester is one of the harder ones, and I feel that I am as prepared as I’m gonna be for that, but I hope that with all my efforts comes success and achievements. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and seeing familiar faces! I’m also very grateful to have met the group of friends that I have through this program, from the very first day. I’m ready to take on this semester one day at a time and work my very hardest to achieve the goals I have set for myself.

ICU nurse Caitlyn Obrock has treated hundreds of COVID patients but one patient stands above: 28-year-old Monique Jones, who came to the hospital deathly...
Our job as nurses is to cushion the sorrow and celebrate the joy, everyday, while we are "just doing our jobs".
